Eguchi Yosuke [江口洋介]
he's a great actor!

amethyst's dramas (38)
Beach boys [ビーチボーイズ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
A great comedy about life's ambitions.
Beautiful life [ビューティフルライフ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Deals with the society's view on hadicapped people. A beautiful love story that goes beyond lust.
Brand [ブランド]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Romance between a young man and an older woman, who is also his superior. Gets a little draggy in the middle with an unexpected ending but nonetheless well filmed.
Dekichatta Kekkon [できちゃった結婚]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Hilarious initially. Wonderful to see Takenouchi Yutaka in such a role. Well complemented by Hirosue Ryoko. Gets rather sad as the story progresses but has a happy ending.
Food fight [フードファイト]
Rating: 5/10 (Watched)
Each episode is a story on its own about Mitsuru trying to win that prize money for the orphanage he grew up in. Some stories are touching, others amusing and the rest plain unrealistic. An interesting note: Kimura Takuya was the voice of the crow Kyutaro.
GTO [麻辣教師]
Rating: 8/10
Funny, touching, shows unity within a class and how a teacher tries to "break into" their class.
Hatachi no yakusoku [二十の約束]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Love that blossomed between penpals but hampered by a tragic past. She lives in Boston and he in Tokyo. When they finally meet at 20, many obstacles were thrown in their way, especially from her father. The drama ends in a tragedy but the last scene, though sad, is beautiful.
Hitotsu yane no shita 1 [ひとつ屋根の下 1]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Shows the struggle of 5 orphaned siblings. Touching.
Hitotsu yane no shita Season 2 [ひとつ屋根の下 2]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Continuation of part one. Carries on the tale of the 5 siblings but with one of them, Masaya, away for most of the episodes, and some additions to cast. Ending I watched was the re-filmed one, which was absolutely dumb! Spoilt the entire show.
Hoshi no kinka 1 [星の金貨]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
A love story and sibling rivalry. Beautiful story about a mute girl but too slow.
Hoshi no kinka Season 2 / Zoku hoshi no kinka [續。星の金貨]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
A continuation of Hoshi no kinka 1. Starts in snow-covered Hokkaido, where Aya had returned to. Takumi had turned up there unexpectedly and has changed from being rebellious to a sensible young man. Then they had to go back to Tokyo to attend Aya's friend's wedding and many tragedies happened.
Ienaki ko Season 2 [家なき子 2]
Rating: 5/10 (Watched)
Suzu, a young girl who stays in this rich man's house and is constantly being bullied by the other girls. A continuation of Ienaki ko 1. Here she is without a mother and is trying to find out who killed her.
Imouto yo [妹よ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Aptly named Tokyo Cinderalla Love Story in English. About a woman from a poor family falling in love with a rich man and both their transformation mentally.
Jinsei wa joujoda [人生は上々だ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Story of 2 men who struggled through life and how they built this unlikely friendship.
Kamisama mou sukoshi dake [神様、もう少しだけ]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Watched because of Kaneshiro Takeshi. Got through it also because of him. Though the storyline is very touching, it is still quite unrealistic, especially towards the end when she got pregnant. But I think the main focus was how both he and Fukada Kyoko grew up.
Kekkon shiyouyo [結婚しようよ!]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Started out as a marriage of convenience, where both parties needed to get married for their own agenda. Eguchi Yosuke acts as a divorcee who is fighting for custody over his son, Ren, but eventually reached an agreement with his ex-wife to let her have Ren when he reached 7(I think). A predictable, happy ending.
Kenshui nanako
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
A hilarious take at interns. Sato Aiko's performance here is superb. She's one of the rare Japanese actresses who seem to disregard her image. All of them have their ups and downs and I think the ending is great.
Kimi to ita mirai no tame ni ~ airu bi bakku [?N???]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Drama with a unique storyline and filming technique. Although the story keeps on repeating those 5 years, it never fails to intrigue me since each lifetime is spent differently. Then the twist happens and things start to fall in place as the characters try to get out of the cycle. Domoto Tsuyoshi scores once again with his superb acting!
Kindaichi shonen no jikenbo 1 [金田一少年の事件簿 1]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Based on the manga series. A great show filled with suspense. Comical at moments, and also the unfolding teenage romance between Kindaichi and Miyuki.
Kindaichi shonen no jikenbo Season 2 [金田一少年の事件簿 2]
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Follow up from part 1. Also adapted from the manga. As great as the first one, but now the stories tend to last 2 episodes instead of 1. But the new theme song by Tsuyoshi sounds terrible.
Koishite Shinitai [恋して死にたい]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji Season 2 [救命病棟24時 2]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Goes inside an ER through the eyes of 2 interns. Many issues are brought up in this series. Haven't watched the first one yet so can't compare. Acting is also well done here. The entire cast complemented each other well. A happy ending.
Love letter
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
A beautiful love story and a journey of unexpected discovery. A bit too slow though.
Love Revolution [ラブレボリューション]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
Esumi Makiko looks fabulous in this drama! The story revolves around her looking for love. Romantic comedy. Good for light-hearted viewing. The last episode showed what happened to each character, some were very amusing, some very predictable.
Mahiru no tsuki [真晝の月]
Rating: 5/10 (Watched)
About a rape victim walking out of her fears and falling in love with a man again. Delicate acting but a bit draggy at times.
Manatsu no Merry Christmas [真夏のメリークリスマス]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Takenouchi Yutaka acts as a gangster who tries to turn over a new leaf. A new role for him and he really looks the part. Storyline isn't much to talk about. Basically about orphans who grew up on an Okinawan island and their struggles in Tokyo. Focus mainly on Haru.
Natsu! depart monogatari [夏!デパート物語]
Rating: 6/10 (Watched)
Set in Isetan, story revolves around a group of trainees for the store. Each episode is a complete story. Has a lot of that "ganbatte" spirit.
News no onna [ニュースの女]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
About how a strong career-minded female newscaster bridges differences with her stepson and a meddlesome family friend.
Over Time [オーバー・タイム]
Rating: 8/10 (Watched)
A story of a love rectangle (is there such a term?). Beautiful ending, sad but realistic.
Saabisu [サービス]
(Watched)
Cannot remember much of this show but it is about a woman in her 30s who does housework for this particular family. She eventually falls in love with the master of the house. How the ending went, I cannot remember.
Shomuni [ショムニ]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
About 6 office ladies (OL) who are ostracised and looked down upon but somehow always manages to save the day. Lively, comical. Enjoyable.
Shomuni Season 2 [ショムニ 2]
Rating: 7/10 (Watched)
Carries on the characteristics of Shomuni 1. Still as fun to watch.
Shota no sushi [将太の寿司]
Summer snow
Rating: 9/10 (Watched)
Tsuyoshi acts as a young man, Natsuo, who takes on the role of a parent to his younger siblings after their parents died in an accident. Brilliantly depicts the brotherly love he has for them and the budding love he has for Yuki (Hirosue Ryoko) with a heart problem. Ending is sad but that way they will be together forever.
Taiyou wa shizumanai
Tokyo Love Story [東京ラブストーリー]
Virgin Road [バージンロード]
(Watched)
Yume mirukoro o sugitemo [夢みる頃を過ぎても]
Rating: 3/10 (Watched)
Follows the life of undergraduates. Focus is mainly on Aska who falls in love with a man who has taken 6 years and still not graduated (Hosaka Naoki). Boring show.

Kekkon shiyouyo [結婚しようよ!]
quite okay............. [Rating: 6/10]
Might not have survived it if not for Eguchi Yosuke...good at some points but not consistent throughout. Watch it if you've got the time.
Kimi to ita mirai no tame ni ~ airu bi bakku [?N???]
Fantastic [Rating: 8/10]
I enjoyed watching this drama. The storyline may seem repetitive as the characters keep going back to the past. But watching what they do with each new chance to re-live their last 4 years is refreshing and never bores me. It's a highly recommended show for those who are sick of the usual soapy love story.
Mahiru no tsuki [真晝の月]
touching and wonderful acting.... [Rating: 6/10]
i liked the way the 2 leads fleshed out their characters. they were able to show feelings of dilemma and confusion...
Yume mirukoro o sugitemo [夢みる頃を過ぎても]
Forgettable...... [Rating: 3/10]
There isn't much to remember of the story line. The only thing that made this show watchable would probably be the cast. But even that couldn't sustain interest.
