mochi's drama votes (2)
Kunimitsu no Matsuri [クニミツの政]
Read review above for why this vote!! :D
Samurai High School [サムライ・ハイスクール]
really love the samurai!

mochi's artiste votes (5)
Esumi Makiko [江角マキコ]
Makiko surprised me with her strength of character portrayed through her roles. and despite that she still has a firm grip on humour and knew when and how to inject that at the right moments. i've only caught "shoumuni final" and "sudden storm" and i'm certainly looking forward to watching more of her shows! Certainly a rare actress who packs charisma, looks, height, etc etc!
Ichikawa Mikako [市川実日子]
I got to know of Ichikawa Mikako from "Samurai High School" and I think she acts great as a teacher! She's got the very sensible look and yet she looks so cute! Go Ichikawa-san!
Miura Haruma [三浦春馬]
Love him in his samurai mode!!! dai suki!
Oshio Manabu [押尾学]
I love how how his intense eyes look on his cherubic face, not to mention his perfect pout of course! ^-^ Very entertaining on double score.
Takenaka Naoto [竹中直人]
He's ace at working up humour. Effortlessly funny and excellent to watch when you're down :D

At Home Dad [アットホーム・ダッド]
(Bought & Watched)
Funny, heartwarming, interesting take at reversal of fem/masculine roles in this society.
Double score [ダブル スコア]
Rating: 6/10
It's still showing on tv on sunday nights here. it's quite ok :) i love oshio manabu in the show!
Good Luck !! [グッドラック!!]
(Watched)
the high fliying lives of the nippon airway crew. very entertaining and inspiring :) my first takuya show! (now i know why every girl's smitten over takuya kimura)
Hoshi no kinka 1 [星の金貨]
(Watched)
this is the saddest show ever
Hoshi no kinka Season 2 / Zoku hoshi no kinka [續。星の金貨]
(Watched)
this is even sadder than the first installment. nevertheless it was really engaging while it lasted. i doubt i'll watch it again anytime soon since it's really emotionally taxing :I
Kaidan Hyaku Shosetsu [怪談百物語]
(Watched)
Koishite Shinitai [恋して死にたい]
(Watched)
To be fair I've only watched half of the first episode and I just couldn't bring myself to continue watching it despite Kyoko (who is really cute in the drama). It's just so -blah- it seems like the story line was going nowhere and there was this drag of an odd boxing scene in the park where kyoko met the male lead and fell for him then but everything was so bland and huh from then on and i don't know, i might just be missing out on something great as the plot grows but whatever i'll give it a miss for now.
Kunimitsu no Matsuri [クニミツの政]
(Bought & Watched)
Oh my gosh!!! i'm watching it now (have yet to finished the entire serial and dreading that day i would reach the last disc!) totally entertatining, funny, thought provoking, i actually learnt/relearnt some forgotten/neglected morals/virtues like never say die etc. keep that optimism burning at all times!! i feel like i emerged from spring after watching that show. it inspires a hell lot!
Majo no jouken [魔女の条件]
(Watched)
28 May 2005 gurai Some cheesy anime-esque cliches: there was a scene where michi first came to hikaru in school grounds when he was sitting nonchalently under a tree heavily blooming with cherry blossoms - like a mei shao nan being discovered just as he has blossomed as the pink cloud overhead did. but that apart the show was a good watch. i got really tensed up when michi's fiance (who looked primed to be a psycho murderer) started pursuing them across town. also touching was how they came to discover that they really like each other but were forbidden to commit to each other openly because of society norms :'( the ending was pretty and sweet.
Pride [プライド]
Rating: 10/10 (Watched)
i've only just finished disc 4 atm but oh gosh :I i just melted. it's all the usual cliche themes thrown in (ie. lovely, purehearted, innocent girl slowly melting the 'frozen heart' (yes that literally) of the jaded haru who was from young deprived of motherly care) BUT they were so sincere and good acting out the plot (which was far from cheesy given those very cliche/stale themes) it just makes you melt from the inside out. one of the best jdramas i've watched to date. oh man. now i'll be trapped in fantasy world for months! oh :I but whatever it's so very nice and heartwarming to watch shows like this. 26 Sept 2005 0030 -might be skipping class tomorrow-
Shomuni Final [ショムニ ファイナル/庶務二課]
(Watched)
light comic relief! but still manage to communicate important messages (i remember once that Makiko, in her role, gave her opinion that one should take one's job seriously no matter how society views the importance/status of your job) it kinds of makes me want to put my best foot forward and give my 100% in everything i do, big or small! apart from that shomuni final was fantastic as a comedy as well :D it made my day those sunday nights! (it used to be aired on sunday nights here)
Sore wa, Totsuzen, Arashi no you ni... [それは、突然、嵐のように…]

i must have rewatched this 14329872435 times but because it's so touching. i've written a million reviews about this and i think i'm just about drained for another one here

Kunimitsu no Matsuri [クニミツの政]
Horribly infectious optimism! [Rating: 9/10]
I bought this drama on random when i was at the video store (to be frank i bought it because Oshio Manabu starrs in this drama ^^ I was afraid that it would be weak plotwise since it seems that dramas starring hawt personalities would take liberties with plot quality BUT i was glad that wasn't the case! i'm now on disc 7 (there are 9discs in total) and it proved really good! sure it was a tad too idealistic and just a teeny weeny unbelievable for real life situations but the characters in the drama worked really hard to portray their sincerity and at the end you find yourself won over by their determination, their ever brimming optimism, their genuine concern and care for the society they live in and those around them. it is one very heartwarming drama. the perfect tonic for all those apathetic souls out there! :D Also it helps that they've got a powerful cast e.g. Oshio Manabu was totally funny and hilarious and very endearing with his childlike innocence and sincerity. There were a few episodes devoted to his interaction with kids from a school (sorry spoiler here: Oshio (Kunimitsu) was roped in by the principal of this school to help deal with an incorrigible class) The kids were wonderful too, they were really good at living up their roles (also it's wonderful how the production crew picked up those kids to suit their roles on screen) Besides that you have some side plot like how a reporter (Itoh) faced issues with partiality and protecting friends. There is just enough depth in this drama to justify its political contents and yet you've got enough entertainment to justify it as a drama. Anyway whatever the reason Watch this drama because it's awfully inspiring and would make you feel nourished and optimistic again!! :D But honestly Oshio's presence should be enough of a magnet for viewers :D
Samurai High School [サムライ・ハイスクール]
TCEnCXN[ [Rating: 8/10]
This is really quite an interesting and funny show, much credit to the lead actor Miura Haruma for being so convincing as the peace-seeking high school student who switches modes COMPLETELY each time he get possessed by his samurai ancestor. And what a very charming, dashing samurai he makes! It's amazing that Miura could deliever these two very extreme characters so convincingly. The storyline is rather ok, sometimes outrageously ridiculous and kind of pretentious (trying to be philosophical sometimes, but falls flat) but I guess that's because it's a comedy. I'm halfway through the show and enjoying every minute of it!
Tentai Kanzoku [天体観測]
Ii yo! [Rating: 8/10]
I'm about halfway through the show. Plotwise the show was kind of weak from somewhere around the beginning, having parts which occassionaly made me snigger in disbelief. The gorgeous cast and the habit of watching a Jdrama every sunday night had me following the show though, and it's good i did that because the plot has grown so much more engaging. Yuka/Tomoya is especially enchanting and portrays so well the struggles inside him your heart goes out to his character when he decided to, at a function, to --- i wont post further more cos this would be a potetial spoiler! --- i'm glad they're showing this over here every sunday night now, there would be something to look forward to each weekend! also the ending theme song by Mika Nakashima is wonderful and sums up the mood perfectly.
