The only one I've found so far willing to export their product is tv asahi. They have a buyer's catalog, in English, specified for international broadcasters, distributors and licenses.

So they are willing, it's just that nobody over here cares about them. Puppy Dog Eyes

Me too. Puppy Dog Eyes

We could always start a company that distributes them. We just have to make sure the contracts specify that the actors and actresses must be available for promotion. A lot of people wouldn't mind spending $100 to meet Yamapi or to smack Tackey behind the head. hehe

The buyer's catalogue is available here link

I wonder what sort of commitment they would need? I'm sure we could do something, if there was enough interest from people who were willing to put up the cash...

It could be something like $250 000 or if it's for a DVD release, you usually have to pay an amount up front + royalties on each copy. Sometimes with a minimum amount of revenue.

If they are willing to lower the price per copy, $50 for each series instead of $200 in Japan, I doubt it would be profitable. Sad Duplicating is really cheap, a few cents each copy, but the rest...

hehe
on a new Italian car?

I'm just saying a number, but it could be lower or higher. For games, you can license a physics library for $15 000+ plus royalties or a game engine for $250 000 ~ $500 000 plus royalties. In this case, you still need to make a product, so I imagine that if you are just distributing something, it should be somewhere in the middle. So you need to sell a lot....

It could be an annual fee + royalties too... or something else. I doubt it is cheap. Sad

It could be cheaper for broadcasters. Kiku is doing it and they don't have 25 million viewers.

I must have misunderstood the purpose of that site, then Smile I assumed you could just purchase DVD's for distribution in the USA (Or wherever). I guess they must be available somewhere, though, since YesAsia sells them.

I think they are skipping that part of acquiring a license. I bought a few games and DVD and they all have a "For sale and use in Japan only" label. Head Scratch

When there's an Asian version, instead of Japanese version it doesn't have warning labels. Probably this version has been authorize for export through licensing. For some reason, it's always cheaper. hehe

It's no wonder people rip DVD's and upload them, is it? They make it so difficult to do things legally.
