Racism and Discrimination in H.K.
Spoiler (highlight text to read):
Okay, so the boys expect to get an American boy in their class, and what do they hope for? All state: "Oh a Blonde and Blue Eyed boy is coming!" WHAT?!
Is this what they think of America as being? How stereotypical! I mean, what the heck!
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that.
I was like "WTF...."
Spoiler (highlight text to read):
I think they have Americans confused for Europeans hahaha. I have loads of really white friends, and when I say really white, I mean true Americans from like generations after generations, and hardly any of them have blonde hair.... Now my Irish and german friends seem to have blonde hair the most. As for the eyes is mostly green and brown and not really blue. I think this is the reason why it says at the beginning of the drama to "please forgive the foolishness of this drama as is fictional" cause wow if thats their view have of Americans they in for a shocker hahaha.

Sorry if it sound racist for you but THAT IS the image of peopne from North america, because ven if is true that now a lot of you aren't blond and blue eyes thats the kind of people we all see trough your television, Besides your nation was stablish for the British so is normal to think that you that come from that first people to go to your country will look like that as well. And isn't kinda hipocrit for you to talk about steriotipe people when Americans are the first to do that? I mean I'm latin but I've to get use to the idea the what most of the people now about latin is burritos and Tacos, and not only in your country but in the rest of the world as well, but I know that because Mexican culture is so strong in North Ameria is just normal to think that way. If you wanna talk about discrimination how about you calling only your self Americans when all the people living in America (and I mean the continent) are americans as well. So please don't come with all of that crap when you don't even know what kind of image your own country projects of them self.
And About H.K I was soooooo scared after reading the previuos potst that say all of that, but I find it cute and amusing, I don't know what people expected, I did lafth and love how Oguri and the rest of the cast looked on it (maybe the head ot the 3 dorm looks little to old to be palying a high shooler) and Maki look cute as a boy too. An even so the change many thing you can still see a lot of the original work on it, besides you can't actually waite that they will do exactly as the manga cause this dramas are only 11 or 10 episodes long! it will be inposible, and is was the same in HYD, but it remain the base of it wich is good! _________________

Finally took time today to watch first episode of hana kimi (well, and tantei gakuen Q, love and farm as well )
I find it more refreshing to see the Japanese version of Hana Kimi over the Taiwanese version mainly because...... Maki is so much kawaii'er than Ella (no offence for Ella's fan, it just my personal preferences.)
Also, the fact that it is less exaggerated helps to pull me more into it. I hate over exaggerated dramas.

Uhh before you include me in "thats the image your project" look at your left and read what's under my name, yes I'm also Latino... (se te paso esa. Pero esta bien, se te fue la mano un poco y lo alle un poco ofensivo pero se te perdona ) As for the image we project as Latino, you got it a bit wrong. I have never once been accused of eating Tacos and Burritors for say. If anything the one thing I get could be, "oh you Hispanic, where you from Mexico?" lol. But I understand why that would be the words coming out of their mouth as they don't know and can't distinguish between each race (same could be said for Americans calling Japanese, Koreans etc. Chinese...) we all know they aren't that similar but for someone who's not from that race it could be a bit harder (heck I don't look one bit Mexican but people will always associate Mexicans with Hispanics, it just goes hand in hand)
Lastly I got something else to say, please don't generalize when speaking/writing in forums, specially when you have no clue who that person is. You seem to have some issues with America as a whole, and I could understand that. Many countries hate us and some have their reasons for it, but we shall refrain from that right now. Lastly I never once said anything about discrimination, I was just pointing out how they exaggerated their view of America and why the drama at the start states "forgive the foolishness" as is to be expected. I think you took this a bit to far and blew it out of proportion with your own personal feelings and accusations.
If you got something else relating to this please send it via private messages, as it does not improve the thread or further the dicussion on Hana Kimi and what is really suppose to be, a romantic comedy. _________________

Hehehe, sorry bout that had no clue you were a girl. In either case, hehe yeah I think those fan girls might eat ya up anyways hehe. As for him being/looking boring, isn't that what made him famous? In Hana Yori Dango he was even more boring looking, but I think thats what makes him who he is in the dramas hehe. |
i wish i can see he play a different character then what he play in HYD..
since he do that for about 2 season...

I totally agree there, I would love for him to do something completely new and innovative as a character. Lets hope the directors and casting people get him later on for some odd part |
i hope some directors will read thiss

So I watched the first episode last night!
I really loved it, I thought it felt like the manga (I liked the TW version but I felt it was very OTT)
Maki really pulled off the role, I could believe that people would think that she was just a pretty guy, but at the same time it was believable that she was a girl (when watching the TW version I forgot Ella was a girl sometimes )
I LOVED Yusuke as the ghost guy he was FANTASTIC (I preferred him 10x over to his TW counterpart)
Hiro made a suprisingly good Nanba (I was put off when I saw the pictures but he really impressed me... though I am a BIG fan of the guy who played Nanba in the TW version he was gorgeous XD)
Course the main guys Oguri and Toma I thought were both very good. Shun is a very sexy Sano and he has the right personality too and I can't wait to see Toma's personality in future eps.
