Excellent film, but she only appears in the last fifteen mitutes or so. Incidentally she also had a minor role in one of the Jikou Keisatsu first season episodes.

I tried this, and couldn't finish it as I dislike self multilation and just couldn't relate to any of the characters.

Really?
If and when I revisit that drama, I'll have to remember that.

Somewhat reliefed you dislike self-mutilation. I didn't mind the book since I try to be open-minded in life and this describes a sub-culture I can't understand at all. But I certainly don't want to have to deal with visuals.

I did finish it, but I'm in you're boat. I wasn't that fond of the movie.

Yeah, something like 20 mins into the movie, I started thinking "what's the point of this" and "where is this movie going". I also found myself checking how much time was left, so I could watch something else.

Honestly, you can't really tell from that shot, but they're definitely not thick.

If you're looking to be completely won over by Yuriko Yoshtaka, take Cerebus's advice on page 2 of this thread and check out "Konno-san to Asobo".
In a dozen 5 minute shorts she comes away as the world's most adorable dork.
There is some narration, but it's not really needed. They're just little vignettes depicting the world of a girl in a sailor suit. A girl who is anything but the fantasy image from Mangas, or sex driven school boy imaginations.
I'll watch anything Uchida Yuki or Kichise Michiko appear in because I'm a lecherous old fud and they're gorgeous.
I'll watch anything Yuriko Yoshtaka does because of "Konno-san". _________________ Manga is to Literature
