For those who seldom read the newspapaer. Today, I saw this piece of news in the Strait Times.

*************************************************************
MUSIC file-swoppers in Singapore, take note. You could get into trouble if you're downloading songs illegally.
The Recodings Industry Association of Singapore (Rias) which protects the copyrights of artistes here, will be going after individuals for file-sharing violations.
Under the Singapore copyright law, a person caught distributing illegal MP3 files could be fined up too $100,000 and/or jailed for up to 5 years.
Rias had identified individual offenders, and had already taken legal action against some.
Illegal music downloads and file-sharing networks like KAZZA and MORPHEUS have been targeted by record companies recently in a high-profile drive.
More than 1,000 subpoenas, requiring Internet service providers to reveal the names of music swoppers, have been issued over the last 4 weeks.
Previous reports put the numbers of broadband subscribers here who reguarly download music at 500,000.
Add the fact that almost all the music files found on the internet are illegal copies, and the picture is of a large number of Singaporean who breach intellectual property laws. But Rias is working to change that.

*************************************************************

They're targeting individuals now. Got to be careful, S'pore mates.

RIAS is a slave of RIAA Angry D*ckheads! Morons! Greedy bastards! Ran out of ideas to solve the problem? I'll suggest some:
- lower the price of albums!
- quality over quantity! Absolutely no conveyor belt music!
- at least 15 songs per album! Not like 10's! Long live the the 80's!
- pay less to artists!
- Innovation is essential!
- remove copy protection, unnecessary. Can be copied.

Every record association around the world is slave to RIAA Angry
Anyways good news to me where I live. I don't think our record association wouldn't resort to that low trick and they don't have enough resource to submit it. Small country.

JPOP! Yay! hehe *currently listenin to Ayumi Hamasaki - Evolution* WHOOA YEAH!!!!

BTW "Are you a female or male"-thread is goin off topic hehe I will not reply the thread anymore Sweat

it's not like we stop buying originals right.. the purpose for us to d/l mp3 files is to see if the artiste is any good.. and whether it is worth to buy his/her original cds.. well it is that way for me at least.. so what's their problem..??

I read they are only going for the ones who share copyrighted music, meaning if you're just leeching then you should be okay, but that defeats the purpose of P2P.

In Kazaa-Lite, there is now an option that supposedly blocks the ip of the RIAA therefore preventing them from tracking you or something. But I'm sure how or if it actually works.

Also read that they are gonna sue one or two small time sharers to set an example.

I don't use kazaa to d/l music and don't use it often. There are other ways to get them.

Don't use Kazaa! Kazaa is full of those pesky spywares! You're being spied on by advertise companies. "Gain" or "Gator", ring any bells? Spywares also slow down your comp as well! Eatin extra process.
A lot of malicious worms have been distributed thru Kazaa! I highly suggest installin and runnin Ad-aware! Ad-aware removes spywares and keeps your comp spyware free! And run a full virus scan!
Some viruses have the ability to turn off antivirus and firewall!

Anyways, try WinMx programme. www.winmx.com
It's a lot better than Kazaa, Morpheus etc. If not the best P2P for jpop goods Smile Dun worry, RIAS is targeting Kazaa and Groktster!
