I love Taiyo no Kisetsu, it feels similar to Kimura's Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi I think. I had read the original Taiyo book prior to the drama, and I have to say that the 'spirit' from the original novel is kept in tact. I think the producers for Taiyo were VERY bold, they went ahead with the famous scene, I'm referring to the famous love scene (in the book) between Tatsuya and the female lead, the one with the erection 'sounds'. Think you'll know what I mean if you've seen the drama. The directors handled that scene very well, it was subtle yet tactful, not cheesy but actually classy. One of the best thing (I think) about this show is the dual characterization of Eiko. There's only one Eiko in the book (and she is both 'good' and 'bad'). But in the drama, the two sides of that personalities is kinda split between Eiko and Yukie. BUT there are weaknesses of course, like Tatsuya was supposed to turn over a new leaf midway in the story, but he got wayward again... I think it's a bit repetitive here. The only thing I couldnt stand and don't understand (or maybe I'm refusing to accept and understand?) is the scene where Tatsuya kissed the mom...I mean, is it really necessary? It gave me creeps though...

Despite all that, I love this drama (I think I like deep and dark dramas). Takki's pretty good in it too. Love the piano pieces in the drama as well! I had to look all over the Net before I found and bought the music scores! I just have to have them cos Eiko wrote the song for Tatsuya...

Great series . Its been becoming one of my favorites. It was repetetive with him becoming wayward again, but the story called for it. Sahara challenged him directly after he had attempted to "change". I love how Orihara(If I remembered his name x_X ) completely sold him out though. He deserved it.

If you see Tsugawa's reactions in tense situations they're always forced and awkward. He's roleplaying, which is why he went after Eiko's mom like he did.

I like your interpretation, insightful... Gotta re-watch it again for the details!

I just watched the last episode here in Los Angeles. I really liked this drama. Eiko is so cute and sweet. Sad ending.

I like the song they are playing when he is running but not the theme song. I mean I like the theme song but I like the one where he is running at the beginning of the marathon race more.

Can I ask where you got the OST? I'm here in LA.

Thanks

Hi MixxDreamer,

Can you point me the url to CD japan's Taiyo OST? I have been trying to find it since ages ago, but couldnt locate it. So I thought they didn't release an OST for this drama, did they? Thanks!

I think the reason for not seeing Takki's picture on the site is due to his affiliation with Johnny's company. The company holds exclusive rights to all their stars' photos.

The ending song is the same as the drama theme (the opening song), right? It's sung by Takki, can be found in his debut album Hatachi (with Tsubasa Imai). It's the second track.

Doesn't that suck?! I mean, really, they're people too! Isn't it just a tad too extreme saying "you cannot have pictures of <addname>, they belong to me" ? Crazy

Oh and i haven't seen Taiyou no Kisetsu yet, i'm trying desperately to get it though. But i dunno whether i should get the DVD or VCD. What do you guys think? Is it worth the DVD?

Yep, the opening theme is also the ending drama theme, it's called Keseki sung by Takizawa Hideaki. It's in his Hatachi album Track 2.

I also watched the final episode last night. I thought the show was okay. Most of the characters weren't very likable. I didn't like the ending. It's hard to feel satisfied after an ending like that.

Thanks for all the info everybody but I'm more confused now.

Here in LA they do not have any opening song really. They just show a short clip of the sky with clouds and play the song that Eiko plays on the piano.

The song Tsugawa runs to is a different song. Also...there is no OST then?

Domo arigato in advance Smile

Yeah, no OST unfortunately....

Tsugawa running? As in that last race in the last episode or running during the ending credits? (ending credits looked pretty surreal with the blue filters and clouds ...) Can you elaborate which running scene you are referring to? If it's that ending credit song, then it's what arashinokoto wrote [Kiseki]....

arashinokoto,
yes, think u are right, it should be Kiseki, you speak Japanese language? What does Kiseki means? Is it like miracle or something?

It means season, as in "Season of the Sun" (taiyo no kisetsu)

Ahh. Sorry for the late reply.

Thanks to all for helping me out with the song. To clarify...I realized thatt the song when Tatsuya is running in the marathon is the instrumental vrsion of the song he sings. The vocal version is more upbeat while the The instrumental one is more slow and sad. I wish they had the OST because I want the Kiseki vocal version and instrumental version plus the song Eiko plays on the piano.

Although the ending is sad...I guess the message is...sometimes you don't realize what you have until it is gone? Or love is more important than getting revenge? Perhaps both?

There are others too but I won't bore anybody anymore as this show was over a couple of weeks back. Ha ha. Big Grin
