Nakama Yukie to play a loveless career woman in new drama, “Renai NEET”
Today it was announced that actress Nakama Yukie is going star as a career woman in the upcoming TBS drama “Renai NEET ~Wasureta Koi no Hajime Kata~“.
“Renai NEET” is a romantic comedy about six individuals between twenty and forty, who all are fortunate to be in a good social position yet fail to advance in the professional called love. The acronym NEET actually stands for ‘not in education, employment, or training’, but in this case it basically describes a person who ‘is not in love, a relationship, or trying to find love’.
Nakama plays a woman called ‘Rin‘, who happens to be around the same age as herself. Rin is single and hasn’t had a boyfriend for the past eight years. She rather immersed herself into work in order to raise her two much younger siblings after the death of their parents. However, instead of trying to find her love, she drives away the opposite sex by blurting out that she hasn’t had any sexual relationship for quite a while.
She commented, “I’m playing a full-fledged OL (office lady) this time. It will be a story about people in their thirties and their love relationships. I can’t wait for the filming to begin. I hope the viewers will enjoy watching it every week while checking if you are also the love NEET or not.”
The producer behind “Renai NEET” is the same person who caused a social phenomenon with the drama “Around 40“. The term ‘ara-four’ (around 40) became the buzzword of the year in Japan in 2008 and with the term ‘renai NEET’, they will try to create yet another popular buzzword.
Fuji TV is currently airing a similar drama with “Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Ryuu” on Mondays, but the producer of “Renai NEET” emphasized that “this drama will be romantic comedy about real adults“.
TBS will premier “Renai NEET” in January and air it every Friday at 10:00 pm.

Nakama Yukie attends press conference for upcoming 3D movie, “Tempest”
On November 28th, actress Nakama Yukie attended a press conference for the upcoming 3D film, “Tempest“.
Set in the late Edo period, the film portrays the story of a woman named Mazuru, who disguises herself as Son Neion to protect the Ryukyu Kingdom. It started off as a stage play back in February, and was later adapted into a drama series in July.
As her third time starring in this production, Nakama expressed, “I’ve been playing the same role for over a year, so when we started filming, I felt that I could save the Ryukyu.” She continued, “To be able to feel that my hometown of Okinawa was the Ryukyu Kingdom is an inheritance of a lifetime.”
The biggest highlight of the film is the three-dimensional hologram. A virtual image of Nakama’s character Son Neion appeared beside Nakama, who appeared at the event as Manzuru. Seeing this, co-stars Tanihara Shosuke and Takaoka Saki were moved to excitement.
