Did anybody see the 7-year-old kid who lead the police on a "high speed" chase? He was drivng his parents' pickup truck. I mean, the kid had sense enough to use turn signals and everything Then once he was done the kid drove the car back to the grocery store and parked it in the same spot that his parents had. The cops thought that they were dealing with a drunk driver at first _________________

56 killed as record snowfalls bury Japan
January 8, 2006
HEAVY snowfalls lashed western and northern Japan yesterday and are expected to continue today.
Record amounts of snow have so far killed 56 people, as well as causing transport havoc, since the snow season started early last month, officials said.
The Japan Meteorological Agency warned of the possibility of avalanches and other weather-related incidents and further traffic disruption from the snow and cold weather.
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi suggested that the Self Defence Forces may be mobilised to remove snow that has smothered many homes.
"I think we have to respond swiftly if the situation demands it," the prime minister said.
Snow has hampered road and railway transportation, including bullet train runs between Morioka and Akita. The line resumed services yesterday.
The meteorological agency said a powerful cold air mass is expected to move over northern and western Japan and snow is expected in mountainous areas on the Pacific Ocean side of western Japan.
Total snowfalls reached 370 centimetres in Tsunan, about 250 kilometres north-west of Tokyo, yesterday and 314 centimetres in Myoko.
The agency is warning that up to 70 centimetres of snow may fall in the mountainous areas in the Hokuriku, Kinki and Sanin regions. Two people died on Thursday after their home was crushed under the weight of snow in Hakusan.
Total snowfall for the past month averaged 245 centimetres for the country, about three times more than the average over the past 10 years, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has reported.
Many regions of Japan have just experienced their coldest December in 60 years, with 106 areas experiencing record snowfalls.

so what's up with this whole decision to shut down (i.e. lock) individual threads of celebrities that happen to be represented by Johnny's Jimusho?Although I'm sure it was decided to promote a sense of efficacy, I don't think it was necessarily a smart or user friendly move. Kimura Takuya is a prime example. Although I know he is a member of SMAP I feel his gravity AND popularity as an actor FAR outweighs any notoriety attached to his membership in SMAP.....so everytime I want to discuss something about him I have to wade through posts that might deal exclusively with Tsuyoshi, Goro, Shingo, or Nakai? It's somewhat foolish to be honest. At least those individual threads honestly deal with a bonified Japanese entertainer unlike the countless How's the Weather, What are you doing, What bothers you, My ass itches, etc etc threads that we all post in....
this is not an attack on anyone...it's just an expression of opinion.

The problem is, by allowing Kimura's thread, there is a precedent for others to say, "If Kimura has his own thread, why not my artist YYYY?"
i understand that...i was merely using that by way of example...but it's more than obvious that johnny's jimusho only uses some of these crappy boybands as a launching vehicle for the talent they represent...so the implication is EVEN IF somebody moves way beyond that and makes a name for themselves you still have to lump them all together.....that's just not logical.
i used kimura takuya because he is BY FAR the strongest example....i can almost assure you that most ppl here know kimura takuya as an actor but not necessarily as a member of SMAP....

^^moreover, as i suggested earlier when i broached this subject...there are so many fuggin' bullshiet threads out there you are going to clamp down on threads that have a regular following which discuss the often burgeoning careers of various individual male celebrities and let some of these ridiculous nonsensical threads persist untouched?
