It seems most of the decent dorama series are based on some novel or manga lately... Of course, they were around for a while, but it seems they are really dominating the TV-ratings in the past year.
Some notable non-original dorama series in the current and past year (Ordered by Monday to Sunday by season):
Saiyuuki
N's Aoi
Kami wa Saikoro wo Furanai
Yaoh
Kuitan
1L no Namida
Hana Yori Dango
Nobuta. wo Produce
Densha Otoko
Umizaru
Doragonzakura
Attack No.1
H2
Gokusen 2
Are the scriptwriters getting lazy? Do YOU like these doramatized series better than completely original ones?

True, true. The former shows that it already has audience-appeal. But I think a lot of that audience-appeal can be built with the actors and the story itself. Like PRIDE or something. Or Tokyo Love Story. Or even Last Christmas! I miss original dramas!

Probably continuing the trend that Hollywood's taken by putting out sequels upon sequels and adaptations from books etc. Lucky I've still got a number of older jdoramas stashed up waiting for me to begin watching

Exactly. I think you said that better than I did. _________________

o! i like this topic. realli worth discussing. it's true that original jdoramas are dying out. im living in singapore and can onli noe about new jdoramas thru the net and when i read the sypnosis of dramas, it's mostly wat "best selling manga", "same name as the manga", etc.
however, that's isnt too bad either. at least the stories are nice. honestly, i find some original jdorama's script off. adapting from good mangas allows the audience to enjoy, the backstage pple to be happy and of cos the writer of the manga to be regconised.
at the end of the dae, isnt whether the script/story is good that matters? even if all the dramas being broadcasted now are original but if they are no good, wat's the point.
or put it in the other way, the writers of the mangas are the scriptwriters. anywae they all are humans. haha!
