I think the series have been somewhat inspirational for salary men in Japan.

Times have been really tough and are still currently tough in Japan.

It's a bit too "idealistic" but it teaches people (future salary men) what is right or wrong. If you stick to basic moral principles which Kintaro does...then in the long run...you come out ahead.
thats true. this series has to have appeal to the masses, and in jpn the masses out there is still called the 'sarary man'.

I must ask this question... On the KXLA-TV airing of Kintaro 4, who at the TV station is subbing them? The context of the subs are fine... However, what's driving me NUTS is the choice of font they're using, and the way they rip the subs onto the screen. They're using a slow fade-in / fade-out transition within the subbed dialog. They're using a serif font, which reportedly isn't as legible on a TV as a san serif font. And the point size is HUGE, which restricts them from putting more text on the screen, causing more paging of the subs when focused on the same speaker.

Is subbing a new thing for KXLA-TV? KIKU-TV recently went through a hell of a experiment with their in-house subbing (crackling audio problems caused by the subs, and line control on the screen), but now they've got it down pretty close to what JNP once was putting out.

BTW gregsan, thanks for making the Kintaro 4 series available!

*serif - fonts include Times New Roman and Courier.
san serif - fonts include Helvetica, Arial, and Verdana.

Just saw your post now. I don't know who does their subs (in-house or other). The subs could definitely be improved both from a visual standpoint as well as a typographical stand-point (many typos). But...I take what I can get. At least they're not raw like the Fuji shows!! My guess is that they're not in-house and they might just receive subs from various sources since other shows are subbed differently (though it could just be that they're improving).

The third season of Salaryman Kintaro was total utter flotsam.

The producers and scriptwriters took everything that made the first two seasons very entertaining and very funny and jettisoned it, resulting in an absolute dreck of a third season.

The fourth season was only mildly better, but that's not saying much.
