Yeah I don't think they ever worked together again after this....

I thought it was pretty good but I agree that it's overrated. Not on my list of favorites or anything at all.

With respect to Beautiful Life though, as I mentioned, Eriko Kitagawa wrote the script and she has a pretty darn good track record for hits...

Except for Tatta Hitotsu no Koi. That's a big no for me.

Even in her "golden years" she won't need plastic surgery...not even Darth Vader had that much.

I watched because of Kitagawa, but Kamenashi makes me lose my appetite of the show. Really, Kitagawa made a mistake with this one (she said she wrote the role for Kame), but I can totally see why people are turned off by that series. Not only the recycled plot seems unusually recycled, but the cast were not convincing, the same as the plot.

I think I remember you not liking this too. Or was it someone else? Head Scratch

Anyway, I can't understand why people like this drama so much and I thought it was just that I had a short attention span. Then again, I watched this drama on TV, so it wasn't like I watched it back-to-back like a lot of people. That might have contributed to it my thinking it was boring and forgettable.

Shocked she wrote it for Kame?! is this the one with Ayase Haruka?

on topic.. I thought Beautiful Life was overrated too yet it was beautifully made. i love how poignant it was and the emotion lingers on after watching the ending. kinda artsy rather than entertaining. the chemistry was not there but at least it doesn't feel as awful as Takuya/Kou in "good luck".

It was a good drama,, but yeah a bit over rated
but it definitely has the best conversation dialogue I've ever seen in any drama (made me Applaud when I compare it too any drama dialogue I've ever heard)

I agree it did get a bit draggy but still that made the characters more developed and without it I wouldn't not probably enjoy the ending
which made me Puppy Dog Eyes every time the characters start crying on screen,

and the female lead is really really charming, she almost eclipsed takuya kimura's character which is a hard thing to do

this dorama is still the best for me.. the fact that it is slow made it even better to me. and yes. the dialogue and monologue was simply the top reason why it could be said as the best. Yeah

my most favourite scene ever is the one when kimutaku and takako made really warm phone dialogue in the night.. really.. it's overwhelming emotion.. Bow

I must be the very last person on earth to have seen this drama, lol (just finished it last night!), and I'm currently listening to the OST and trying hard not to Cry .

So. Anyone remember which scenes in Beautiful Life had the instrumental track Thousand Sky (Skies?) (by Hajime Mizoguchi) as the BGM? The music breaks my heart every time I listen to it (and I've been listening to it nonstop for the last, oh, 3 hours I think), but I don't want to go back and re-watch the drama just to find that track... at least, not yet. Emotions still a bit too raw right now. Pout

Gaaah, I feel like... Drunk

If anyone can help me out, appreciate it. Wink

I just finished watching this drama, literally and couldn't wait to share my review. First I didn't like it at all. I understand full well the problems disabled people face I used to volunteer and work in hospital so I understand. I was really looking forward to a heart warming melodrama about loving someone with disability but this was not it.

The main thing is that the two leads, KimuTaku and Tokiwa Takako didn't seem to have any kind of chemistry, not even acting/fake chemistry. Even though there was romance written in the script, he seemed disgusted by her and she seemed lost and goofy, like in Aishetteru. She just looked scary and weird, even when she smiled it bugged me out BAD! I was just turned off by this drama. Definitely not a good even half-way decent KimuTaku drama in my opinion.

Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

This is the second drama I've seen with Takako as lead and I didn't like the other one either. I just think it's her weird facial expressions and acting that turns me off. I guess it's just my own personal opinion and taste. To each his/her own Sweat

The same can be said for him and Koyuki in Engine.

IMO, he always seems to play the same type of character: a cad/lout/etc. with the stereotypical heart o' gold... Rolling eyes

I have to admit although I don't want to because I really really really like Takuya Sweat you are right. That's the very reason why I have not been able to finish watching Gift. I have been trying to watch it for 2 weeks now and I'm just on episode 3. I don't think he is the 90's heartthrob he used to be and definitely should consider other roles, IDK. He is still steamy hot to me though.

We said that during this drama that KimuTaku always wears the same type of clothing in his dramas. The plaid shirts and jeans. He always has the same hairstyle and always in the same roles. He doesn't play a bad tough guy always a good-heart type. Girls always seem to be throwing themselves at him or desperately chasing him. Tired YAWN!! STRETCH!! It's starting to suck to see him in the same characters all the time...U Suck

And for those reasons you mentioned, I find him and his dramas to be typically uninteresting... Tired
