Just rewatched the final of Hatsukoi. I think it's the best dorama this year, so recommended : )
Saigo kara Nibanme no Koi is also much recommended!

(This one is awesome! And getting a second season this fall!! WOO!)

I liked it, was glad to see Yutaka Matsushige get to play something other than his usual yakuza/thug character, but it didn't have any real plot. If you're a foodie you'll love it, though!! Drooling

Just don't let anybody from Greenpeace or Sea Shepherd watch episode 4. Sweat

The last drama I enjoyed was Bartender, before that... I can't remember. Some of my favorite actors are/were Kimura Takuya, Abe Hiroshi, and other big names like that. My problem is that I haven't been keeping up with dramas for the past few years, and I'm really not familiar with any of the new cool actors either. I tend to like drama/comedies, especially ones that involve non-traditional settings (ie. high school, salarymen/OL life, etc.)

What's good that came out in the last year or two and is widely available with subs?

Thanks!

^ From 2011, I would reccomend:

"Marumo no Okite": http://jdorama.com/drama.1629.htm
2 kids, a talking dog, and Sadao Abe.

"Soredemo Ikite Yuku": http://jdorama.com/drama.1646.htm
Very intense, but probably the best drama of 2011.

"Don Quixote": http://jdorama.com/drama.1651.htm
The old "personality swap" scenario.

From 2012: "Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi":http://jdorama.com/drama.1716.htm
Nice romantic comedy.

"Legal High" : http://jdorama.com/drama.1739.htm
Took some getting used to. I thought Sakai was too over the top at first, but it got better as it went along.

Hey guys! First post on this forum and I would love some recommendations Smile) It's been a while since my last drama and I tried Byakuyakou but somehow I found it a bit "fake". The feelings and the circumstances felt a bit unbelievable.

With the autumn closing in I need something sad and depressing. I prefer sad love stories over bad illnesses etc. I want to cry a lot Big Grin My favourites include Soredemo ikite yuku, innocent love, tatta hitotsu no koi, sekai no chuushin de ai o sakebu... And I'm looking for more Smile

Thanks so much!

^ Hmmm, not really love stories, but two I would recommend are Yasashii Jikan: http://jdorama.com/drama.855.htm

And Daisuki(you won't even recognize Karina from "Love Shuffle" as the same person, that's how good she is: http://jdorama.com/drama.1248.htm

Btw, we have a JDorama member called Keps. Are you two related? Bleah

I love those crazy, over the top JDramas like Hana Kimi and Ouran Highschool Host Club. Could anyone please recommend similar? I like that it's light and fluffy, makes you laugh and leaves you feeling happy. I don't really care about the story line so much (these are more about the ensemble cast than the main characters anyway) but no sad or dramatic endings please. I want something to cheer me up.

If there is already a thread on this please direct me to it, I couldn't find one using the search function but I am new here and very happy to be corrected.

Sorry, I thought the recommendations thread was for general recommendations and because I only wanted specific advice I needed to set up a new thread.

My mistake Doh!

Anyone knows a drama, Japanese or Korean, with people playing tennis (other than The Prince of Tennis)?

There's "Ace wo Nerae":http://jdorama.com/drama.849.htm

But not being an Aya fanboy I've never seen it.

The drama was alright.
Realistically speaking, you're not going to learn how to play tennis from watching this drama. The only tennis you'll learn is the "rising shot"

I have not seen a dorama in a looong time, can anyone recommend me the must-watch of 2012?? Planning to do some catching up. Any genre is fine. Well, except for crime doramas, not really into those.

Thanks!! Muack

^ I'd recommend,

"Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi":http://jdorama.com/drama.1716.htm

"Osozaki no Himawari":http://jdorama.com/drama.1773.htm
(although the ending could have been better)

"Hatsukoi":http://jdorama.com/drama.1766.htm

There are a couple good police dramas:

"Strawberry Night":http://jdorama.com/drama.1706.htm

and

"Hitori Shizuka":http://jdorama.com/drama.1784.htm
which also needed a better ending, but great up until the final episode

and this year's Kimtaku drama "Priceless" :http://jdorama.com/drama.1772.htm
Kimtaku was good as usual but I really liked Karina and Nakai as his sidekicks.

also, "Unmei no Hito":http://jdorama.com/drama.1724.htm
Probably a lot of people didn't watch it. It's about a reporter uncovering some political shady dealing. Yoko Maki was great!
