Just wondering, how many of you do sing Japanese songs at Karaokes? Smile

Anyone knows where to get the karaoke videos (be it in Singapore or your own country, or over the internet)? The lyrics are usually in Kanji with Hiragana above them.

Wahhh...I've been dying to know how to find Japanese DVD/VCD karaoke with Romaji Lyrics since my knowledge of Kanji is very limited.

I do like to sing along with Japanese song, actually I do it most of the time but not on Karaoke since it's very hard to find the one with romaji lyric.

I do it every now an than at my friends house, it's so MONEY!!! Nothing beats drinking a few brews and screaming into a microphone, man I can't wait until i can go again! The lyrics are in JPN however, no romanji for those who cannot read. Sad . Anywhos here's a link to some great priced systems with a lot of songs in different languages as well. Ace Karaoke.

Don't think Romaji lyrics will be official.. they don't encourage it anyway.

I don't mind reading KTV lyrics in Kanji.. haha.. then again, who knows where to get 'em?

Yeah, I highly doubt also that romaji karaoke is found anywhere. I don't know about videos, but I know there were Laserdiscs sold awhile back. VERY EXPENSIVE I think. I know the karaoke places here in Seattle use Japanese VCDS and LD's I think. I'll ask where they got them.

I sing Japanese karaoke songs whenever I have the chance. However, it's impossible for me to find the songs I know by looking at a song book because I can't read any of the character sets. Instead, I carry around my iPod and plug into the karaoke system, or I burn the songs to CD-R audio and play them. Like you said, it is hard to find the lyrics. In my situation, I sing the lyrics as I "think" I hear them. I usually sing Hikawa Kiyoshi songs. And if I feel really goofy, I'll pull out some Sakai Noriko (I can sing Aoi Usagi , Hohoemi Wo Mitsuketa, and Ureshi Namida quite well) or Matsuda Seiko tunes.

As for converting to Romaji, the site I usually used for some reason isn't working for me anymore. Sad

I LUV KARAOKE! Visit my karaoke site Smile http://www.nt2099.com/KARAOKE/

As for JPOP Karaoke, I have purchased several Teichiku Japanese music LD's through the years but they are soooo expensive. Here in the US (Mikado Laser in SF), it was like $49 for 10 songs on LD. And more than likely, you would like 40-60% of the songs on the LD. I checked recently to see if they gone down in price but they are still the same price.

I have purchased a karaoke DVD from ebay and it's ok...I don't like the music and they sometimes choose the remix versions than the original versions of the song.

As for karaoke ala romanized....hehe....due to the fact that my friends love Japanese music and can't read their kana that quickly or don't know kanji at all, I recently for friends made a karaoke vcd of selected Japanese music videos with the romanized lyrics and English translations. It's nothing sophisticated like how anime is subtitled now these days (since I have a Mac and just used iMovie there are some limitations) but I created it to allow friends who like the songs to finally sing along with us.

I wouldn't sell it but I would put it on BT...not sure where but it seems this d-addicts is a good place to test it. Here is the link:

http://www.d-addicts.com/

For a test, I'll put up LUNA SEA's "LOVE SONG", SMAP's "Yozora no Mukou" and SPEED's "ALIVE". Can someone test it for me.

Hi lovelessemotion,

Well, I think my hesitation is because I know if I do... many people who are used to quality subs and haven't read what I posted earlier on this thread might feel "what crappy subtitlers"...hehe... I just did it for friends who need the romanizations, so they don't get left out and they can sing along at our karaoke parties.

But also, I guess it depends on the musical taste of the people but I haven't done subbed that many videos. So, far this is what is subtitled for karaoke:

Akaki nikkichou - AKAGUMI4
ALIVE - Speed
Dakishemetai - Mr. Children
Furusato - Morning Musume
GLASS - Kawamura Ryuichi
gravity - Luna Sea
Hajimete no Chuu - Kimura takuya
HOWEVER - GLAY
LION HEART - SMAP
love love love - Dreams Come True
Love Machine - Morning Musume
Love Song - Luna Sea
SERORI - SMAP
Tomorrow Never Knows - Mr. Children
Yozora no Mukou - SMAP
Yuuwaku - GLAY

I just did it for friends who need the romanizations, so they don't feel left out and they can sing along at our karaoke parties. Also, the words are not word-by-word translations since that would be difficult. But anyway, I'm glad you liked it. Anyway to help out fellow J-Karaoke fans.

I guess it depends on the musical taste of the people but I haven't subbed that many videos. It took me a while to figure out the timing and thus some of the early videos I've worked on...timing was shite (this is evident on the ALIVE video). So, far this is what is subtitled for karaoke:

Akaki nikkichou - AKAGUMI4
ALIVE - Speed
Dakishemetai - Mr. Children
Furusato - Morning Musume
GLASS - Kawamura Ryuichi
gravity - Luna Sea
Hajimete no Chuu - Kimura takuya
HOWEVER - GLAY
LION HEART - SMAP
love love love - Dreams Come True
Love Machine - Morning Musume
Love Song - Luna Sea
Pieces - L'Arc~en~Ciel
SERORI - SMAP
Tomorrow Never Knows - Mr. Children
Yozora no Mukou - SMAP
Yuuwaku - GLAY

On my iPod, I have about 25 of Sakai Noriko's songs in karaoke format. I bought all of her CD singles, which include karaoke tracks for the A and B tracks, and ripped them to the iPod. My automobile, besides a to-and-from-work vehicle, is also a Noriko-chan karaoke mobile!!!! Here's a link to my CD single collection (yes, I actually scanned every single one, back and front):
