At The Drive In, one really odd, poppy and hard rocking band, just played their last 2 CDs, sadly they broke up in 2003, here's a clip of them playing One Armed Scissor live. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08qk_pMJFak
Among his many accomplishments, Jake Shimabukuro was also responsible for creating the film score for Hula Girls, the Japanese film which won the Japanese Academy Award for Best Picture.
Shimabukuro is continuing the tradition set by ukulele virtuosos of previous generations like Ohta-san and Eddie Kamae of showcasing the ukulele as more than just an accompanying instrument.
^ Was not aware he had done that soundtrack. What he's able to do with an instrument that only has four strings and just covers two octaves is truly remarkable.

^^ Wonder if she had to eat those words? Speaking of them, today had he been alive George would have turned 68.
The memorable tribute concert in honor of George Harrison, the Concert For George, will be streamed for free on GeorgeHarrison.com this Friday to celebrate his birthday.
On November 29, 2002, one year after the passing of George Harrison, Olivia Harrison and longtime friend Eric Clapton organized a performance tribute in his honor. Held at London's Royal Albert Hall, the momentous evening featured George's songs, and music he loved, performed by a lineup that included Clapton, Jools Holland, Jeff Lynne, Paul McCartney, Monty Python, Tom Petty, Billy Preston, Ravi and Anoushka Shankar, Ringo Starr, Dhani Harrison and many more.
gThe music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.h
It was fifty (50) years ago today that John, Paul, George and Pete(!) played their first gig at The Cavern!
That's a fun fact... Beatles will always be Beatles, it seems like they'll be living on with their great songs... I have to agree with my dad that their generation seems to have produced the best music...
