A new drama (comedy) that's been on KTSF lately is Koi Seyo Otome (or Koiseyo Otome). It's actually a pretty predictable and forgettable story of a young lady in search of love. It's hard to define the tone of this show - surreal? absurdist?

Is there a book or something that this was based off of? Does anyone have the link to the NHK show?

What I'm really after, is the name of the sister with the big ears. She was also a nurse on Churasan. Very easy on the eyes, that one. Smile

Note : I've never watched this show before. hehe

Information based on MICO website, an official distribution company for NHK programs.

Let's Fall in Love

20 x 15 min., Japanese final mix, Japanese script, 2002

Love doesn't Just Happen... It's a Calculated Event!

If half the population is male, why can't Sachiko find a man who's right for her? No one ever said love was easy, but for Sachiko, whose love life has been non-existent for too long, it's starting to look like a hopeless task.
When she's not helping out her widowed father making rice balls at his shop, working at a research lab developing delicious snack foods, or watching over her sister, Nobuko, Sachiko Amano's mission is to find her perfect match, with her old high-school chums, Nanako, a recent divorcee, and Hinako, a chipper newlywed, as her co-conspirators. Every night after work, the girls gather over munchies and cold beer to sketch out their love-hunting game plan and swap tactics.
Sachiko meets man after man, each totally different from the last. Could this be the one? Does he love her? Does she love him? This everlasting love thing could be harder than she thought! Most importantly, given Sachiko's upbringing and line of work, the ideal man must truly appreciate great food. Otherwise, her beau could be any number of men she meets. Surrounded by culinary delights, Sachiko literally eats her way through her mission, using food for both consolation and a celebration of love!
A clever and delightful romantic comedy, Let's Fall in Love guarantees to bring a smile to your face.

Starring:
Hitomi Manaka, Aiko Sato, Wakana Sakai, Ayumi Yamaguchi, Takehiko Ono, Toshio Kakei, Yu Yoshizawa, Susumu Terashima, Takashi Tsukamoto

Let's Fall in Love--Again!

24 x 15 min., Japanese final mix, Japanese script, 2004

The Quest for True Love Continues!

Not much has changed for Sachiko since the original Let's Fall in Love. Her life still revolves around food, fun, and friends, and her love life is still stuck in neutral. With the help of chums Nanako and Hinako, she gets back on the hunt for the perfect man!
Hinako has a new theory--maybe one of Sachiko's former rejects is really her true love? So, when Sachiko runs into an old grade schoolmate, she wonders, is this a second chance?
Or, maybe she's overlooked someone. Could a regular customer be The Man? Could she have been meeting him everyday and not noticed?
Sachiko shocks everyone when she agrees to a blind date. Maybe she can find true love in an arranged marriage. Sachiko will try anything, and he does sound ideal though he looks like a goat!
Will Sachiko ever find love? Maybe fate is waiting for her to realize that love is staring her in the face!

Starring:
Sachiko Amano: Hitomi Manaka
Katsuhiro Kurasawa: Toshio Kakei
Nanako Machida: Aiko Sato
Hinako Tomita: Wakana Sakai

Well, I think the one who played the sister is (here goes my 50 cents) :

Ayumi Yamaguchi

But then, when u mentioned 'big ears', this girl spontaneusly pop up in my mind :

Aiko Sato

I like all of them Naughty .

Actually...although the show is predictable, I think it has a certain amount of charm to it. I thought the character of Hinako is pretty funny during their roundtable discussions. It's nice fluff before Shinsengumi, which is not going to end happily....

That guy Sachiko met on the first episode needs to stop talking into thin air....

I'm just glad I get KTSF up here, so I'll watch most of the Japanese programming they put on.

I am really enjoying the show. It is goofy and strange but fun and uplifting. I love the Character Hinako too. She is hilarious. The father who eavesdrops on her and her friends, and the sister who is mysterious and a little creepy are all great characters.

I agree that this show is quite good and I am having fun watching it on KTSF. I like the three girls who get together and discuss romance while the father is listening in. Who is the married cutey with the high voice and husband with a nickname of "The Bear" ??

This is getting interesting.

I am pretty sure her name is Sakai Wakana - She plays Hinakao. Too funny. She was also in Home and away but I did not like her in that nearly as much as this show.

My wife (who hasn't gotten into jdramas...yet) enjoys the show. She has me Tivoing it. It has a sarcastic tone to it...almost a what-goes-on-in-her-head thing. She doesn't know what she wants in a man and seems to make it up as she goes. Then she realizes it was wrong.

Maybe you will get her addicted with this one and soon she will start to enjoy others. Dancing Maybe if she likes this one she may like something like Shomuni. Another fan for the legion. hehe

I thought this drama was a little forgettable, but it spawned a sequel (already linked above). Koi Seiyo.....

Just finished showing on Northern California's KTSF last night.....

Can someone please explain the ending to me?

I'm guessing that Sachiko had four male admirers that met with her Dad and none of the four were interested in marriage? Going forward there was one guy in the food business who did say that he loved her, but that he would "watch over her for the rest of her life." I guess that implied that there was hope for happiness and a bright future....but what was that ending all about?

Also, did you find her attractive? She was surely a tomboy type, but I still found the married lady with the high voice and the husband with a nickname of the "bear" very sexy.

Speaking of a tomboy type, I found the actress Takano Shiho who played the role of Sakura which aired all of last year on KTSF in the same time slot and who was also a tomboy type, much more appealing.

Thanks,

g.f.

Yes, they turned things around. Through the other episodes, all these guys were chasing her. In this episode, they decide the guys decide they have better things to do with their lives. Sorry for being vague, but I saw his quite some time ago.

I found her attractive, and I don't like the oddly high voices myself. Smile

I thought she was attractive at times. when she wore her hair up she looked a lot better. I think she was a victim of bad hair in some of the episodes. I liked this show better than Sakura. I wish it were longer.

They seemed to leave it open for a sequel. It seems to imply that the guy who has been in love with her will be together with her in the future. The wind gust nearly blew him over which ties into the wind that ended their relationship earlier on. I think it meant that the wind has changed big time and it's only a matter of time before they are together again.

I thought the sequel was going to be aired immediately after this, but I guess they were using Koi Seyo as a buffer to get to Wakaba.
