Yes, there has been a Fall Basho. Up thru day 10, Hakuho alone at the top 10-0. Harumafuji pulled out after day 5 with a record of 3-2. The other yokozuna Kakuryu is at 9-1 along with the surprise of the tournament Ichinojou in just his first tournament also at 9-1. I think I will be a little sad when Hakuho breaks the record. Nothing against Hakuho--he is a great rikishi, respects the history of the sport, and comports himself with class. But Taiho was my first sports hero many many years ago, and that makes him very special as far as I'm concerned.

Day 13 and here's the deal: Harumafuji vs. Kakuryu, Harumafuji has to win to stay 2 behind Hakuho with two days to go. If he loses he's out. Last match is Hakuho vs. Kisenosato. Kisenosato is also two behind so if Hakuho wins and Harumafuji loses Hakuho wins the basho. Yes, there has been as Osaka basho. Business as usual after 10 days, Hakuho alone at the top 10-0. Of the other yokozuna, Kakuryu had to withdraw after day 1 and Harumafuji has 3 losses.
