Average broadband speeds by state in Australia, according to the ZDnet Speed Test. http://www.zdnet.com.au/broadband/state.htm

Fastest of 241,661kbps! Imagine downloading doramas with THAT sucker!

Interesting that Korea has the world's fastest average at almost 30,000kbps. No wonder Clubboxes are so popular.

I tested twice, fastest was 13094kbps. (At work)

That's only about 30MB/sec... And it's only as fast as the seeder/peer can upload the data... Sweat

Only? That'd do me Sweat a 1.8G file in a minute!

It would obviously not be a torrent though, more like a direct download from someone with a super-fast connection Smile

That's my point: unless they're just as fast, you're not gonna get anywhere near 1.8GB/minute... Smile

Still, it would be nice to have the possibility of getting those speeds.

Although I did download a 1.8G file at work in 20min... that's pretty good IMO.

I was wondering... is there some metering program out there that will keep track of how many gigs I've used in a month?

If Comcast is keeping tabs, you'd think they'd provide you with such a tool or a link to monitor usage, just like a cell phone company would.

Mine does. I'm pretty sure they all do, if they impose a limit. Otherwise how would you know?

There should be plenty of choices available. I am using NetMeter.

Does anyone know of a relatively reliable online hosting site that support resume upload? My connection has been disconnecting very often, and I would like to send large files. I could cut it up into smaller chunks, or use DropBox, but if someone know then it would be more convenient. Thanks.

I'd think the best thing would be to set up a torrent.... Especially if you need to resume from a flaky connection... Smile

Tangentially related to this Internet thread perhaps...I bought a pair of designer sunglasses (frames handmade in Japan) from the Beverly Center (a shopping center here in Los Angeles area) a couple of weeks ago...the glasses have a 90 day no hassle satisfaction guarantee which enables you to return or exchange them for any reason...well turns out I found the same pair of sunglasses on the Internet for 120 dollars LESS.

The power of the Internet. Victory! Peace!

Did you return the first pair?
