Pretty neat! Thanks for sharing!

When I worked out of Norwood, Massachusettes in the late 1980's, I travelled to the very building you saw on every episode of Cheers. However, the interior was NOTHING like the TV series. Also, when you watch the Dreams of Romance special, I remember seeing some of the landscapes on that special from when I was working in Massachusettes.

That's so cool! Thanks for the link! Ever since I lived in Tokyo, it made me want to watch a lot of my dramas over again to see if anyone shot in my neighborhood there Crazy It was still pretty cool to see familiar locations on shows even if they weren't my area, as long as I had been there. A friend of mine used to live here:
http://joe.ash.jp/travel/loca/guide/1995/s1995_mimisuma.htm

it's the town where the 1995 Studio Ghibli animation 'mimi wo sumaseba' was modelled after, called 'seiseki sakura ga oka' on the Keio-sen.

Wondering if this is the town you visited.

It's a nice quiet residential area, about 30min away from Shinjuku.
I heard some fans of the movie left a notebook on top of the hill for other fans who visit the area to leave msgs. Pretty cool, though I didn't manage to find that book. Sad

Pretty cool, always wondered where some of those locations were.....

Then again, I've always had the impression that most dramas were set in various suburbs or smaller residential areas outside of the big cities like Osaka and Tokyo, etc.

I want to visit some of those places.

::GASP:: First Love had a scene shot in the neighborhood I lived in when I lived in Tokyo!! How awesome is that? DAMN. I need to watch that show for real.....I'll catch some glimpses of mah h00d. No pics on the site though ;___;

It said the scene was Miyamae Elementary School. The weirdest thing is, Miyamae Elementary school is a block and a half straight down the street from my apartment building! Whoa, this is so trippy! I would walk right past it every single day....straight towards Miyamae Elementary, make a right and walk a block and a half up the hill to Meguro Doori and catch the 98 bus to school. Right at the corner, on the same side as Miyamae at Meguro Doori was a Denny's, then caddy-corner is The Garden (supermarket). Holy crap this brings back all my memories of just commuting to school and going out and stuff Mr Green

Can't wait to look for more places Naughty

What a fascinating webpage.

It really brings to life these dramas that (for so few of us) have so much meaning.

Thanks for the linkage.

You might have heard of a manga/anime called Maison Ikkoku before. My all time fave and loved series!
I visited Higashi Kurume in Spring 2001. The city lies on the outskirt of Tokyo, a 30 min train ride from Ikebukuro station on the Seibu Ikebukuro line.
Tokeizaka (the city in the manga/anime) is a fictional name to Higashi Kurume city, it was remodelled after the city. I got pretty emotional as I stepped out of the station. I was so moved, finally got the chance to see and experience the city where the characters had their daily lives. "Wow! I've seen this area in the anime!"- expression I had during the visit in the city. An unforgettable experience!

Hi there.

I am going to Japan with a friend to Japan and we are also looking forward to see some Drama locations.

What I really would like to see is the "goodbye bridge" from Pride.

Does anyone of you know where it is?

And if anyone know other locations, I would be happy if you can tell me.

Thanks in advance

Lucky lucky lucky!!!!!!!
Unfortunately I havenLt seen Pride so I canLt help you there but I have spend some time in Tokyo, so here are my bits that are featured in many dramas.
- Tokyo station Marounouchi area - red brick building
In Anego: this where Anego always looks at a cherry tree
- Ebisu, more precisily the Ebisu Garden Place a trendy a bit out of the way drinking and shopping area.
In HYD 1 and 2: This is where Makino and Domiojou (donLt know how to write his name gomen) always meet for dates.
- Aoyama starting at Otmotesando station walking down Omotesando dori towards Harajuku.
In Last Christmas or in Kurosagi in the online fashion swindling episode
- Odaiba area, the futuristic waterfront - you can reach odaiba by monorail from Shinbashi by crossing the Rainbow Bridge - the view is stunning
ItLs featured in Odoru Daisosasen 2 and many many dramas

If you liked akihabara@deep, Shibuya 15 or Ikebukuro West Gate Part - you should visit this areas to get the feeling! The west side of Ikebukuro is not that special though, but gives you a local feeling. Oh and Roppongi Hills is often used as a location.

Hope this helps a little, anyway Tokyo is huuuuuge and there are so many things to discover. And maybe, if you are really really lucky you will witness a drama shooting.

What is the "goodbye bridge"? Which episode was it in?

I think the goodbye bridge refers to the red bridge where Aki waits for her boyfriend to come from overseas.

I am not sure where is it though. =P

All I know is that the tree that Angeo always pass by is at Tokyo Train Station. hehe

That amusement park was also in Beautiful Life, another drama written by Eriko Kitagawa.
