Hey, i was just wondering - on the drama pages some dramas have a vieweship ratings - what does it mean?
where do you get that info from
what does it mean, is 20% good?
why don't all the doramas have a vieweship rating? |

Just out of curiosity... When I read the Nielson TV rating here in the States, I could care less if Survivor or The William Hung Show*, or some other show is rated well.
So I'm wondering why viewers in Japan find it so important to rate TV shows? Are they THAT persuasive on what other people find are good or bad? I never hear any other TV cultures talk about ratings like they do.

hmm searched through the database, and there is no threads on tv ratings.. i understand the ratings are just an indicator of what is popular to the Japanese audience and what appeals to them might not be as enticing for us (e.g. medical drama).. so anyone keep track of the winner for the respective seasons? or am i the only one who is interested =P

| www.dorama.info has ratings for each individual episode of recent doramas. Doesn't matter if you don't understand Chinese - Japanese and English titles and names are still there and of course you can read numbers, right? |

For summer 2004, the top two were
1) Waterboys II 20.6 ％/22.8 ％ - average 16.19 ％
2) Sekai no chuushin de ai wo sakebu 18.5%/19.1% - average 15.9 ％
Note Waterboys 2, they pulled a stint, broadcasting the last episode
for 2 hours....
