Since it cooled down a lot in LA (finally), I made niku jaga (meat and potato stew).
Turned out well.

Straightforward and savory. I think what stood out for me was how light this was for a tonkotsu ramen...it wasn't excessively fatty making it easy to finish the entire bowl without feeling weighed down by the time you reached the bottom of the bowl.

Perfect for a quick slurp.

Well, if we're only allowed to talk about Japanese food, last night on the Kenmin Himitsu Show they showed this product. They said it's very popular in Nagano: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avH5TIZAZfw

That's right folks, "Homo Sausage". OMG You can't make this stuff up.

FCI Morning News ran this piece about Japanese restaurant chains opening up in New York: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug54L6ZQ4Co&feature=em-subs_digest

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is a GO! GO! Curry place in SoCal. Looks like to me that properly run, if you had one of those out here it would be almost like having a license to print money.
