Haha. For sure. This temple is at the top of hill and the shops that you walk by as you head up the stone streets are steeped in history. It really transports you back in time.

There is so much beauty in Kyoto, it would require effort to take a bad picture. Sweat

It's quite a climb, isn't it? The crowds were so thick when I went, it took a very, very long time to get just to where you took that picture. And then you have to go up further to the overlook part! Worth every step though.

You're right. It is a fair distance to the temple. It was pretty crowded the day I went but a friend and I stopped for lunch on the way up so it didn't seem too bad. Having said that, I'm sure a December visit is not high season for a Kyoto temple run.

Funny you should say that. I'm researching for a new piece on my website about buying condos (old apartments) in Japan.

Fascinating. Link up when you're done posting. I'd be interested in reading what you've gathered.

Think what you like about Obama, but when he goes to Japan, he knows where to eat: http://eater.com/archives/2014/04/23/president-obama-dines-at-sukiyabashi-jiro-in-tokyo.php

In honor of Obama's diplomatic visit to Japan. Tokyo Tower lights up beautifully in Star-Spangled Banner style for President Obama.

Okay, I've posted my article. From my front page (in my signature), click on the "Get a Place" tab at the top of the screen. If you're on a phone or tablet, click the "Where to Stay" button under the introduction. The article is on the bottom of the page.

It turns out this will be the first in a series. I'm still doing research on residency, property taxes, taxes on rental income, etc. But I wanted to go ahead and get the idea on the website and get people thinking.

If anyone has questions, you can send me a PM here, or contact me through the email link at the bottom of the article.

It made me so angry to see Obama get so much flack from American politicians just for simply bowing to a Japanese robot. He was showing respect, at least he has some unlike those poor excuse for government officials. Ugh...I just can't with America anymore.

The best part of the trip was when Obama went to a Maid Cafe in Akihabara. That was waaay cool.

Cool deal. Interesting posting re: property. I like the website, too. Clean design, functional, informative and easy to navigate.
