First of all lemme introduce this pair of talented instrumental composers. S.E.N.S stands for Sound Earth Nature Spirit and it was formed in 1988. The group consists of the two composers, man and woman, Akihiko Fukaura and Yukari Katsuki. Akihiko handles composition, synthesizer,
computer programming and mixing. Yukari handles Composition, piano, voice and computer programming. The music is "new age" which is mainly instrumental and electronic, pure non vocal pieces but Yukari "sings" in some pieces, we hear her sweet and soft humming voice in the tunes such as Fine, Remembering Me, Illusion.
They also work on the jdrama soundtracks aside from the main composition. They have worked on a movie soundtrack, A City of Sadness, a Chinese movie from the late 80's. The movie was awarded at the Venezia international movie festival in 89. I was plannin to rent the movie at the local video rental shop, hopefully they stock the movie. My first experience on the SENS music was from L'oiseau Blue (Aoi Tori/Blue Bird) drama whish was an excellent drama, just simply an unforgettable experience! The touching and magnificent soundtrack made the drama even better overall! I nearly shed tears, very moved. After experiencing L'oiseau Bleu music I had the urge to look for the other music by SENS, I have succeeded at it quite well.
I'll list some jdrama soundtracks SENS has worked on before:

- Asunaro Hakusho
- L'oiseau Bleu
- Kamisama, mou sukoshi dake
- PS. Fine

Not all the pieces are included in the soundtracks, Love in Song played in L'oiseau Blue, wasn't found in the soundtrack, but rather in Transparent Music album.

I find SENS music one of the best intrumental music in Japan, the soft tranquil music can ease your mind, the powerful bittersweet music can move you. It's hard to explain music, anyone seen the following dramas mentioned above, the music speaks for themselves.

I just saw a commercial on a chinese tv, SENS' music was played in the background, Remembering Me. I hear the piece also is used in a Kdrama, Beautiful Days, the humming piece. Not sure though.

Info on the group is rather narrow, google no go. The official site http://www.sens-company.com/ also in English but very rarely updated, last time July 2004. Better than nothing Smile Am I a SENS fan? Nope, but so addicted to the music! I'd love to know more about them, ppl have knowledge, pls share, thanks!

SENS recent album is Renaishu. The album is additional compilation of SENS popular pieces.

1. REMEMBERING ME
2. HEART
3. L'OISEAU BLEU
4. REFRAIN
5. WINDS OF TIME
6. LIKE THE WIND
7. MISSING YOU
8. FLYING
9. MARIA
10. FORBIDDEN LOVE
11. LOVE
12. WISH

Most of the pieces are jdrama soundtracks (if not all). A great album to pick up SENS music, if you still haven't listened to their music before.

After readin Kndy's of NT2099 review on SENS Transparent Music concert tour dvd, I'm very tempted of gettin my hands on the dvd w00t!
Here is the review http://www.nt2099.com/DVD/asian/sens2000.html

I went to a video rental shop in the centre. Unfortunately they did not carry the movie, A City of Sadness, bah. The title was so familiar before, Ive heard of it long ago. Even the video shop specializing in the import movies, didn't carry it either Sad.

The most "recent" non compilation albums from SENS are The Key (released in September 2003) and Heart (released July 2002). I assume a brand new SENS album is expected in the summer-autumn interval.

As for the movie, both Yesasia and CDjapan don't stock English subs version. I think a british import version is available, I'll have to inquire the video shop. Or I'll just save some money and buy the SENS concert dvd instead Victory! Peace!

Renaishu, a korean version album is released as in "Love Collection" in the korean market. The difference between the two versions is the price, the korean is half the japanese price! That's what I call a bargain! Now's the good chance to pick SENS music!

SENS will hold 3 concerts at the NHK concert hall (?). The tickets to the venues are sold out. The google translator and babelfish suck!

a "Hanayo" named japanese singer has interpreted two of SENS tracks, "Forbidden Love" and "Remembering Me", the vocals added! Listen to the samples at http://www.hanayo.info/ Gotta get my hands on the single!

Found an interestin SENS fan site via google.jp search. http://www2.incl.ne.jp/%7Ecoconuts/music/index.html
Reports from the SENS concerts (in japanese) and pics inlcuded.

A friend of mine is travellin to Japan in the summer, had thought of asking him getting the SENS concert dvd w00t! CDjapan's postage is quite pricey, well, online japan stores have unreasonable postages.

Will post more SENS news as they emerge (as I find more, hehe).
