I got two surprizes when I logged on tonight. First; It's Yamaguchi Tomoko's Brithday. Happy Birthday Tomoko!!! And Second; There isn't a thread just for her at J-Dorama???? That's kind of odd, considering the fact that her name comes up in every poll thread asking... who is the most talented actress?... who is the funniest actress?... what's your all time favorite show?... who are the best on screen couple?... Personally I think Tomoko Yamaguchi is THE outstanding actress/comedienne of her generation. (And I'm understating that because I don't want people to think I'm gushing.) Anyway, because no Artiste Thread is complete at J-Dorama without a few pictures... here are a few that I found in a quick search: Was she a cutie or what? _________________ Manga is to Literature what Graffiti is to Art

Oh, and one more thought. Since she just turned 41, some might think there are no more parts for her on series TV. Piffle!!! Isn't it about time the Japanese made their version of The Addams Family? hi newbie here just wondering no thread for her?? Same as Takashi Sorimachi, he's just have thread although his drama's rank no.1! Although I'm not her real fan but I like her in Long vacation. She's so funny and cheerful. I think she's more than 30 years but still looking and acting like a naugthy girl. The second works, I watched Swallowtail Butterfly, Shunji's film, she's very smart with her gun. So surprise that she can speak english so well in the movie. She's one of my fav actress in japan.

Thing is, Geez, a lot of the members here aren't part of that generation: they're part of that bleached-hair, mousse-laden, j-pop generation. Wink

Was wondering should I post or not. Oh well the heck of it. Happy birthday Yamaguchi-san! Well I agree with bmwracer's last comment. She's like literally the actress from a previous generation who still manages to capture the hearts of audiences from this generation still... Hope I didn't make that too confusing to understand.

It is surprising that no thread existed before. I remember seeing her in Long Vacation and [i]Ohsama no Resutoran[i]. She can be feisty.

Tabana You Bettcha! Swallowtail (1996). She and Atsuro Watabe made that movie for me. These are from another. "Wana" (The Trap). The more series I see her in, the more I would agree with your statement. The vast majority of popular young actresses today seem so superficial in their performances. It's like night and day comparing them to Yamaguchi and some of her contemporaries like Atsuko Asano, Honami Suzuki, and Yasuko Sawaguchi.

LOL! I went all the way back and got myself Episode 1 of 'Mou Daremo Aisanai'... and that was friggin' old. A 91' production. The hairstyles were... umm... slightly less than acceptable for today's standards. XD
