--------------------------------------------------------------
Bitter is the appropriate adjective for all the characters in Nyokei Kazoku (Thursdays, 10 p.m., TBS network). Reiko Takashima plays the 35-year old eldest daughter of a wealthy company president. He has passed away leaving behind three daughters who all dislike each other, a mistress (Ryoko Yonekura) and a best friend and business associate, Ono, played by the great character actor Isao Hashizume. Ono is handling the estate but definitely does not deserve such trust, being involved in all sorts of backroom financial shenanigans.
Hovering in the background is the head of a Japanese traditional dance school (Katsunori Takahashi) who is covering his financial bets by going after both the eldest sister and the mistress. Takashima and Yonekura make believable rivals. In fact, there has been some wide show chatter insinuating that they were rivals on the set of this drama too.
The acting of all the characters is good, and those who are fascinated by the clever manipulations of a grand inheritance battle will probably enjoy this series. But after it became clear that even Ono is a scoundrel, I gave up. Who wants to watch a drama that lacks even one redeeming character? |
Hmm, that's interesting....
Uh, can you also post your info source? It'd be nice to know where the info came from...

Y'know, that seems to be the norm: I've seen other premiers/introductions and everyone seems to be rather stoic, if not downright upset... Dunno why.

Maybe the people are trying to live up to the stereotype of being inscrutable...
Oh wait, that's the Chinese.

How many episodes have been available?
You can wait until you've filled up a disc... No hurry.
Relatively speaking.

Six episodes as of this post. Next one should be available by the weekend according to the schedule junkboy is posting them. He's been on an upload frenzy.

As opposed to a fangirl frenzy.
OT: Did you know Gackt's first name is Todd?
It hit me last night when I was watching TV...
