The persimmon tree is nearly 24' tall, my tallest ladder is 12'. There's no way to get a cherry picker back there, and the limbs below where i need to cut will not support my weight safely. So either i lop off a portion of the main trunk or use a pruning saw w/ a long extension pole which will quadruple the time and energy it'll take to trim the top limbs. x 1000

Be ruthless. My motto. Hence pruning with a chainsaw.
Our tangerine tree had to be hacked way back from all the hard frosts this year. _________________

Even easier as I have the husband use the chainsaw.
But we did have to use the ladder for all the huge crepe myrtles.
I was a planting maniac 15 years ago so its a jungle round here. _________________

So, I guess Macaulay Culkin Appreciation 101 is a very popular course.
