In 2000, NHK aired Taiga Drama "Aoi Tokugawa Sandai". I'm desperately looking to find this series on DVD (Japanese w/English subtitles). Does anyone know where I can find it? Fingers crossed

You might wanna inquire in the Buy, Sell, and Trade thread.... Smile

Also, there's a seller named Curious Violet out there who seems to have a number of Taiga dramas for sale... A bit pricey, but if you really want it......... Wink

Was over at Book-Off this morning and FINALLY found a copy of the NHK guidebook for this taiga!! w00t!

Now I've got every taiga guidebook since 2000. Thumbsup

Of all the taigas I've seen, this one, "Toshie to Matsu" and "Musashi" would be my "besto 3". By an amazing coincidence, all three had casts consisting of excellent actors. Singers and idols that wannabe actors need not apply.

Aoi Tokugawa Sandai is hands down the best Taiga I have seen. It had a great script by noted Taiga screenwriter James Miki and a cast--headed by Tsugawa Masahiko, Iwashita Shima, and Nishida Toshiyuki--that was nonpareil. My second best would be the 1999 Chushingura (Genroku Ryoran). That one featured two terrific performances by Nakamura Kanzaburo and Hagiwara Kenichi.
