Just read the news that Kimura Takuya will star in "Space Battleship Yamato" live-action movie, with Sawajiri Erika as the lead actress. This is not officially announced yet, but those close to the project says almost certain.
The anime series is one of the most well-known classic Japanese animes, and a new "revival" anime series will be broadcasted in December.
I really hope this is true
But i canLt believe they are making a live action of Space Battleship, i hope it turns ok(iLm lowering my standards lol).

Stardust Seeks to Sack Sawajiri
Sat, September 26, 2009 (7:34am EDT)
Management agency Stardust Promotion is reportedly considering the dismissal of actress Erika Sawajiri (23) for breach of contract. Sawajiri's conduct has long caused headaches for the company, and it seems that they have decided to finally put an end to it.
Sources say that Stardust began talks of canceling Sawajiri's contract earlier this month. The actress still has some time remaining on her contract, and she is said to be cast in a major movie project. However, the agency has apparently determined that she is guilty of a serious breach of contract, and they do not plan to wait until the contract's expiration.
When asked about the story, Stardust replied with "no comment."
Sawajiri has long had a reputation of a difficult personality. In 2007, she was heavily criticized by the media for her unprofessional attitude during a PR event for the movie "Closed Note." Around the same time, she was also discovered to be in a relationship with multimedia creator Tsuyoshi Takashiro (45), whom she married this past January.
Despite her career being mostly quiet since the "Closed Note" incident, Sawajiri has been in the newspapers several times. One recent incident happened in July, when she visited Amami Oshima for the solar eclipse. While there, she was filmed operating a motorized bicycle, and it was later noticed that the bicycle was not properly registered, as it should have been.
Sawajiri also caused trouble for Stardust in February, when she visited New York and participated in the promotion of a popular fashion brand without going through her agency.
In addition, rumors have surfaced that Sawajiri frequently used drugs while in Europe with Takashiro. In particular, they are said to have often attended drug parties in Ibiza. There are further reports that while they were at Amami Oshima, they went to an event that Noriko Sakai and Yuichi Takaso also attended.
Although Sawajiri's dismissal is not official yet, it appears likely to happen.

^ am not a fan and seems to have a really bitchy character but she is still really young and I like this kind of image better than the pure image on which so many agencies are banking (JE and the likes)
Anyway I canLt judge her - especially when it comes to Ibiza. I used to go often when I lived in Barcelona, and I was already over 30.

The lives of most people in the entertainment industry seem to be diametrically opposed to the basic messages that Aya Kito wanted to give to the world. Could Erika have been influenced by Aya's messages while making 1 Litre of Tears, and if so, could Erika's "struggles" be the result of trying to reconcile the conflicts between Aya's messages and the harsh demands of the entertainment industry?

and very discolored
but other than that I love her!
Does anyone know if thats really her voice in the taiyou no uta songs?
P.S. I love this "bad news" about her. Its funny, because that stuff that she did isn't really that bad, but I guess in Japanese celebrity culture it is. Personally, it makes me like her even more. She's out of that cookie cutter mold of a cute japanese actress, but is instead a bit spicy

Sawajiri Erika Retains Title as 'Most Hated Female Celebrity'
Source: Mingpao
Translated by: sparkles_n15 @ asianfanatics.net
Every year Japanese magazine Shuukan Bunshun ranks 'The Most Hated Female Celebrity'. In second and third place were female personality Wada Akiko and comedian Hisamoto Masami. Their rankings came as no surprise to anyone. Recently arrested on drug charges, Sakai Noriko made the list this year, as did Kudo Shizuka and Sawajiri Erika. The latter two have been suspected of drug use and placed 17th and first respectively in the ranking. This once again goes to show that negative news can easily tarnish one's reputation.
Sakai who currently sits at the fourth spot, did not even place in the top 20 last year. It seems that the public not only found her drug use intolerable, but also her actions in destroying evidence prior to her arrest. As for Sawajiri, negative news from her contract termination has once again placed her on top of the list. The most surprising entry was Fujiwara Norika. It seems that many were not pleased with the way she handled her divorce.
As for Sakai, her latest biographical novel chronicling her drug use has gotten a lot of reaction after its release. It was announced yesterday that there were plans to release a Chinese version of the book, as well as having part of the content made into a documentary. The film will be used to promote anti-drug use and will hopefully be funded by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. The film is aiming to be released across Asia

Today the talent agency Stardust Promotions has finally made it official that they terminated Sawajiri Erika's contract at the end of September. We still lack any solid hints at what this "serious contract violation" might have been, but at least we finally have some kind of official statement regarding this matter.
that sucks. Her husband is also suing her agency (ex agency). _________________

Erika Sawajiri gives up studying for Spanish nightlife
Erika Sawajiri waves at Narita airport in September. Erika Sawajiri gives up studying for Spanish nightlife
Very little has been heard about actress Erika Sawajiri after she was dismissed from her agency a month and half ago. She left for Spain in late September, avoiding the eyes of the media. The actress has not been seen anywhere nor has she made any public statements.
Most people who know her havenft the slightest clue as to what she is doing. Asked about Sawajirifs whereabouts, an acquaintance commented, gShe used to contact me shortly after her arrival in Spain, saying she was having difficulties with the language and that she had too much time on her hands. It sounded as though she wanted to return to Japan, and I was a bit concerned about problems with her husband. I havenft heard from her at all recently. I want to know whatfs going on.h
The actressf life in Spain had been a mystery until recently when it was confirmed that she had been attending classes at a language school located in the inner city district of Barcelona. According to the language instructor, gIt was shortly before summer that a very pretty girl from Japan joined the class. I often saw her sitting outside drinking coffeec Her namefs Erika Takashiro. I heard shefs a famous actress in Japan. She was attending class with her husband.h
According to the school staff, the couple had signed up for a short-term intensive course that cost 2,000 euros per student. Apparently, though, their studies didnft last too long. The instructor confirmed that the two stopped attending after a month.
Sawajiri lives in the vicinity of this language school, an area popular among the art and fashion minded, with stylish cafes and boutiques as well as historical structures. A Japanese expatriate residing in Barcelona says, gI happen to frequent a restaurant that Takashiro visits regularly. The staff there told me that the couple wasnft satisfied with a rental apartment that cost 1,500 euros and chose a more expensive place. 1,500 euros is like a 100-square-meter apartment. They must have gotten a pretty extravagant apartment.h
Sawajiri was known for clubbing before her agency terminated their contract, and indeed there are several clubs that would be to her liking in the same area. However, she seems to have found a different way to keep herself entertained. A nightclub staff explained about a gsecreth party that requires a memberfs introduction to join. gNo paparazzi or police, so celebrities can have fun with no worries. Takashiro is well acquainted with DJs overseas, so he has the connections. Itfs hard to find out when and where such parties are held because they use coded messages to pass on information.h
And so it appears Sawajiri is enjoying the Spanish nightlife instead of studying. The question is, how long will this last? gShe must be getting pretty bored by now,h says a friend of Sawajiri. gShe has her pride as an actress and knows well how much she can earn. Somethingfs bound to happen soon.h
