Some information on the new voting system:

1) Users must be logged in, and must have posted at least 1 message before being able to vote.

2) There are 2 ways to vote. One is via the "Vote" option on the top menu, another is to go to the particular drama/artiste page where there'll be a "vote" button.

3) Users may not vote for any particular drama/artiste more than once. Each user can only vote for 9 dramas and 9 artistes. Why 9? Why not 10?! There is no magic number for that, but my preference was for it to be in multiples of 3. (the votes are displayed in 3 columns)

4) The results of votings can be viewed in the top menu as well, labelled "Top 50". You may see less than 50 actually, as the votes are coming in slowly. There will be random comments (reasons for voting) by the users on display for the top 6 dramas/artistes. Again, why 6? No particular reason.. this things are flexible. Smile

I'd like to get some feedback on the voting system. Seems that after 2 days, only 8 users have used it. Anyone... ?

Yes... new feature I'd say.

Well, think most would have noticed the "top 50" on top. It shouldn't be too difficult to vote then, if the user really wants to vote.

I'm not sure how to add more info on that in the main page, coz its already very cluttered...

just voted some time back, and would like to request for a modification of the voting system. to make it more fair (and hence more complicated)

right now, we have 9 votes, but no preference. i think that is not good enough, cos even among our 9 fav dramas or actors, we have a favourite favourite, and the least favourite among them.

i would like to see a system where we can rank our votes, from 1 to 9. and let the ranking count towards the total points/votes for a drama/actor.

er, let me give an example. like actor matsushima nanako:
if i vote her as my #1 (most favourite), then 9 points should be added to her total vote count instead of just 1.

Reason why I chose to let users vote for 9 dramas/artistes without preferences within, is to reduce the impact of a single person's vote.

Also, I personally feel that an artiste/drama would be considered popular if more people voted for it, and not coz a few people voted for it highly.

I just posted my fill of 9 votes for artists and 4 for the doramas.
However, I was a bit surprised about the 9 limit. Smile *duh

I wanted to ad a vote for some odd characters who had none and I found very good in supporting roles.

Perhaps a "Oscar's" styled voting scheme might be an idea for the future.

Lead Male/Lead Female/Supporting Female/Supporting Male and best pet or something Smile *j/k

Thats a good idea.. but it gets abit complicated with leading actor.. like, it'll be linked to the specific role unlike what we have now.

Perhaps it'll be a separate section then.. Smile

But then again, it's gonna take some time.. I've lots of things to settle for myself these days!! Sweat Sweat Sweat Sweat Sweat <- this emoticon was really just made for myself.. really..

*sigh* too bad we can't vote more than once for an artist else that Aya total would get doubled hehe hehe hehe hehe hehe

Anyways, for my 2 cents, I think it's fine. Maybe some more ads for voting for an artist could be done since I've discovered there were a lot of Aya fans that didn't know you could vote for her and I'm sure there are fans like that for other artist as well. But like you said genma, the main page is cluttered enough already so I'm not sure what else could be done.

Looks like one of the steps in the instruction for voting should be :
5) Must use internet explorer

Because I've tried to vote using firefox but it just wouldn't add the dramas in Sad Grumble Grumble

Apologies for that. The voting system was done long before Firefox, and even before Mozilla got popular on Windows platforms.

Thanks for bringing it up -- I've fixed the problem with Firefox. Smile

Vote started during the site revamp, 2003 I think?

The votes are time-independent. Means, they are to represent the all-time favorite actors and actresses. Not the time-based popularity votes that you're thinking of.
