Just be sure to have a whole lot of tissues next to you. Definitely not for those who have weak tear glands... Else, you'd easily run out Shameful Cry

Has anyone watched the live action drama special for this? (starring Nanako Matsushima and Inoue Mao)
It is so emotional and sad, a real good tearjerker movie Puppy Dog Eyes
I'm thinking of purchasing the anime version DVD now.
Can anyone tell me if the anime is as good as the live action?
Thanks Mr Green

The anime version of Hotaru no Haka (Grave of the Fireflies) was good too. The movie version is a little different since the character played by Inoue Mao is not in the anime. I recommend that you watch the anime version too.

You can download the torrent from D-Addicts and the subtitles from their subtitles section

Or go to spikiegirl.livejournal.com for megaupload links for the live version
I have also uploaded it on yousendit, but I don't know if it's legal to post a direct link for downloading doramas here Sweat
If you want it, you can PM me though

It was a TV movie, I think. Being a couple of times longer than the anime, there's quite a bit of material not in the anime, although the anime also has some bits not in the live action version. I've never read the (autobiographical) novel (is it even available in English?), so I don't know how faithful the two movie versions are to it.

"Oh My gosh!"

I didn't know of a live action versio either.
I bought the Anime DVD not knowing what it was about....There absolutley no ray of hope in this movie. NONE! Ahh.

Nonetheless, I still think it's a good piece.

Keep in mind while watching that the story is semi-autobiographical. The author (the main character in the movies) is devastated over what he let happen (in real life).
