Uh, taking a Long Vacation Mr Green

Sankyou Peggy, for calling my attention to this marvelous Concerto of witticisms that had me rofl rofl rofl nonstop. I'm humbled to be part of such a Grand Tribe of pun artists here at J-Do. But I'm afraid I have nothing to contribute to the wordplay -- my punning abilities seem to have evaporated in the summer heat (yes it's summer here). Maybe they'll Come with the Rain... Or maybe they'll return in 2046. (Yeah, lame, I know Beaten) But no matter, because you guys have Hit the Goal several times over. A Million Stars for each of you! Applaud

And sankyou g-mark for posting the news article. Caught speeding, was he? Shake Head So who was the apprehending officer? Lieutenant Ninzaburo Furuhata? hehe

Gomen, but it's been an exhausting week for me. Time to go back to my Sleeping Forest and Sleep...

Hi! Yeah, thanks to you and Genma! Mr Green

@Peggy - Guilty as charged! Beaten ashamed (But only because all the good ones were already taken, heh heh Sweat)

OT
Guess what I found in the World News section of one of our national broadsheets this morning? I guess it's been a slow week for World News in general. Shake Head This one has a few more details than the Sankei Sports article:

J-pop star Kimutaku caught speeding twice: Reports

TOKYO (AFP) - Ageing boyband star and Japanese pop culture icon Takuya Kimura has been caught speeding twice in four months, casting a shadow over a sponsorship deal with Toyota, reports said on Tuesday.

The heartthrob, whose increasingly middle-aged female fanbase spreads throughout Asia, was caught doing up to 120km an hour on a motorway with a speed limit of 80kmh in September 2011, the weekly Shukan Bunshun said.

The 39-year-old, who shot to fame as a member of fivepiece SMAP, was with his actress wife Shizuka Kudo in a Chevrolet Astro on the way to a popular surf spot when he was pulled over, the magazine said.

Kimura, known to his legion fans by the nickname Kimutaku, was again charged with speeding on a street in Tokyo in January, his agent said in a statement published in Japanese newspapers. His driver's licence was suspended.

(LMAO @ "ageing boyband star" and "increasingly middle-aged female fanbase" Die Laughing)

I found this on Bloomberg.com (of all places!):

SMAP Pop Star Stays in Toyota Ads After License Suspended

Toyota Motor Corp. (7203), Japanfs biggest carmaker, said it will continue using SMAP singer Takuya Kimura in its advertising even after the pop star was suspended from driving after speeding offenses.

gItfs unfortunate,h Amiko Tomita, a spokeswoman for the carmaker, said today. gWe strongly hope he follows road rules,h she said, declining to comment further.

The 39-year-old celebrity known by his fans as Kimutaku appeared in TV and print ads for the Corolla Fielder and gReBornh campaigns from October, according to Toyota....

E.G.
I am going to take it as a compliment if they think I am middleaged.....

I only chose to be 35 because I remembered that being a very good year.....

Actually Kimura san has fans ranging in age from infants to ninety year old people and they also are women and men. He is a man for all seasons and ranges in audiences.

Actually I read somewhre that he was driving ten miles over the limit.

At least he was not drinking or smoking or TEXTING. Applaud

It seems he was not driving a Toyota a the time so they didn't cut him off from all those commercials he does for them.

He was driving a Chevy. I think, and going to the coast with his wife Shizuka to do some surfing.
Day off for a change and that's when you get a ticket.

Speaking of El Hubby, the past week has not been kind to him. His album failed to chart at #1, and he reportedly had tummy problems onstage at a concert. Shake Head

I actually thought Toyota would ream him out for driving a different car brand (and a Western one at that) -- "Hey KimuTaku, why you no drive our car, huh? Fast or slow, you drive our car, huh!"

As nice as it is that he still does this stuff with the missus, you know what would be REALLY cool? If he gets pulled over and then the cop peers into the car and sees... Kimura's animatronic plushie friend from the Gatsby commercials, sitting in the passenger seat!!! (Or on his lap, LOL) Naturally, it would be decked out in the same outfit and shades as Kimura, haha Big Grin

Well I have never seen a surfboard on top of a Toyota rack. Plenty of Chevys used for hauling boards down here tho.

I thought it was nice also that he was with Shizuka still going surfing. No wonder they were in a hurry ...can't wait to catch a wave.

At last some news of a new drama for Kimura.
His leading lady will be Kou Shibasaki which is a plus. At least she can act and they have a pretty good chemistry together. It is a slightly sci-fi story. Kimura will play two roles. His first character will be murdered and then his second appearance will be an android from 100years into the future. Looking to solve the murder maybe and also trying to protect Kou who was Kimura's fiance in human days.

It sounds interesting at least. will come out in October.

The first drama I ever saw Kimtaku in was 'Good Luck' which also had Kou as his co-star. It was only the second drama I had ever seen and I knew nothing about him but I could tell right away this guy had 'it', that indefinable something that separates stars from actors.

The drama itself was a little disappointing. The ending was kind of rushed and really, for me, the best part of 'Good Luck' was Hitomi Kuroki. HOT!

Takuya Kimura to star in TV Asahi drama

Kimura Takuya will star in TV Asahi's new drama, 'I'm home' and Ueto Aya will take on a heroine role.

This marks the first time for Kimura to star in a TV Asahi serial drama, and it's also his first time to co-star with Ueto in a drama.

'I'm home' is a live-action drama adaptation of Ishizaka Kei's award-winning manga of the same name which was serialized on "Big Comic Original" during 1997 ~ 1998.

In the drama, Kimura will play the protagonist "Ieji Hisashi."

5 years have passed since Ieji marries his wife "Megumi" and has a son with her, however, his memory of the past 5 years becomes foggy due to an accident. After the accident, his wife and son somehow look like they are wearing masks in his eyes. As Ieji can't even read their faces and emotions because of the masks, and he is not sure if he loves them, he becomes distressed.

On the other hand, he has memories about his former wife who he divorced 5 years ago, and their daughter. In order to find out his days of the past 5 years, he begins searching for his past self, with the mysterious 10 keys he posseses in his hands.

--What is the mystery behind the bunch of keys? Why did he divorce his former wife?, and...why is his current wife and son look like they're wearing masks to him?--

Ieji gradually solves the mystery by visiting people involved in his past.

'I'm home' will air on TV Asahi starting in April (every Thursday at 9:00 pm).

Seems as tho everything came to a standstill in 2013...ar least for me. Smap also seems to be in a standstill region. At least they did not die which is what happened to me. During a hospital visit for a minor operation. Tired and inattentive doctor sliced up my esophagus but good and I instantly died and was in the after life. Glorious event and I would have stayed there but another older surgeon decided he would save this poor old lady. First Doc was Korean and young. Second docto rwas Japanese and older. I love him now of course and life is good. 2014 and 2015 not so wonderful but now I am walking and taking and life is good. I must be here for some reason and I found I have a wonderful Guardian Angel who has watched over me.

I read on vaarious blogs that Smap has been very dislocated and Johnny does not seem to be helping them a lot. I guess the real story will never come to light. I cannot find anything to watch of Smap which makes me sad but I have a lot of their old shows and also several of their yearly concerts on disc. No matter who is coming up in Japan there will never be another group like SMAP.

^ Good to hear you are okay!! w00t!

When I hadn't seen you post for awhile I was wondering if anything had happened.

Yes, things are quiet for right now on the SMAP front. There was a lot going on there for awhile. They were breaking up, then they weren't, for now they aren't.

Glad you are back. Smile
