Ryoko Hirosue to star in new drama "Seijo"

Hirosue Ryoko will be taking on her first leading role in a NHK drama when she plays a woman suspected of being a serial murderer and is also involved in an incestuous relationship with the lawyer who defends her in "Seijo" which begins its run from 19 August in the Tuesdays 10pm. As this is the first time she is playing an evil woman, Hirosue expressed her excitement about it and pledged to work hard to play this character.

Hirosue's character is an illustrations coordinator who has a mysterious past and is caught as a suspect for a serial murder case. Unexpectedly, she reunites with her former student (Nagayama Kento) who she taught during his high school days as a home tutor as he becomes her defence lawyer. As they used to have feelings for each other at that time, their reunion ignites the spark between them again as the evilness of Hirosue's character is exposed during the trial.

Co-stars include Renbutsu Misako who plays Nagayama's fiancee, EXILE's Aoyagi Sho who plays Nagayama's elder brother, Tabata Tomoko and Tanaka Yoji who play Nagayama's colleagues and fellow lawyers while Kishibe Ittoku plays his boss at the law firm.

I guess this means junny will be skipping at least one episode:

Ryoko Hirosue to guest in episode 4 of 'Wakamonotachi 2014'

Hirosue Ryoko will be the guest star in the 4th episode of FujiTV summer 2014 drama "Wakamonotachi 2014" to be shown on 30 July. She will play the role of Yoshikawa Mizuki, an ex-girlfriend of Satoru (Eita) who aspired to be a stage actress. While watching the play "Hiryuden" being performed by his younger brother Haru (Emoto Tasuku), Satoru imagines the heroine to be played by Mizuki and reminisces about her.

"Hiryuden" is a play set in the 1970s about the love story between Kanbayashi Michiko, the female chairman of the All-Campus Joint Struggle League, and Yamazaki Ippei, a leader in the riot police. Hirosue had acted in the same play as Kanbayashi back in 2003 where she had to act in intimate scenes with the male lead and marked her formal transition from an idol to an actress. Hirosue commented that it was great that she can relive the passion and memories she had while doing "Hiryuden" through this drama.

Ryoko Hirosue and Kenta Kiratani to play siblings in TV Tokyo Special

Hirosue Ryoko and Kiritani Kenta will be acting as siblings in the upcoming TV Tokyo 50th anniversary drama SP "Eien no Zero" starring Mukai Osamu. The exact airing dates for the three-part SP has yet to be decided although it has been scheduled to be shown next year.

Hirosue and Kiritani play the grandchildren of Zero pilot Miyabe Kyuzo where Hirosue is the elder sister who's a freelance journalist while Kiritani is a repeat student taking the bar exam. As this is Hirosue's first drama that has a war-related theme, she commented that acting in this SP was a learning experience for her both as a human being and an actress. On the other hand, Kiritani who is of the same age of Hirosue but one academic year ahead and worked together for the first time, said that it was rather difficult for people in the modern era to realise or understand the pain of the war but he hopes that this drama SP will be able to transmit the message of how scary and painful war can be.

Ryoko only showed up in about the last 5 minutes of her episode so it was kind of false advertising. They made it sound like she was a major player in that episode. But you're right it wasn't a very good drama, although you can't blame it on her.

Ryoko Hirosue to star in FujiTV 2016 Winter drama

Hirosue Ryoko will be starring in the upcoming FujiTV Winter 2016 drama "Naomi to Kanako" which begins its run from January 2016 in the Wednesdays 10pm timeslot.

The drama which is based on the same-titled novel released last year by Naoki Award winner Okuda Hideo, features Hirosue as the lead character Oda Naomi who works in the institutional customers section of a departmental store and is a strongheaded career woman who had a dream instead of her current job. Naomi finds herself making no progress in her career and is unhappy over it. When she visits Hattori Kanako,(Yuki Uchida) her best friend from their university days, at the latter's home, she finds out that Kanako has bruises on her face and that Kanako had been physically abused by her husband. Even though Naomi suggests that Kanako should get a divorce, she is too scared to do so. Soon after, Naomi goes on a business trip to meet a Chinese customer and happens to see an illegal immigrant who looks exactly like Kanako's husband. An idea hatches in Naomi's mind and she makes a bold suggestion to Kanako that they should kill Kanako's husband so as to free the latter from the domestic violence and regain control of her life.

This drama will be Hirosue's first since she acted in NHK's "Seijo" 15 months ago and her first collaboration with Uchida who made her debut earlier. Hirosue who recently gave birth to her third child, commented that it has been a while since she acted in a drama but she is very excited about her character this time who plots murder and views that as a great challenge to herself. Although she has not worked with Uchida before, she has watched many of Uchida's dramas and is very happy that they are able to work together this time. As for Uchida, she remarked that Kanako will be a difficult role to play because she has to show how her character is pushed to the edge psychologically by the domestic abuse from her husband but pledges to do her best. She also complimented Hirosue for being an actress who she can rely on so she is looking forward to their collaboration.

Ryoko Hirosue to appear in TBS Summer drama "Kami no shita wo motsu otoko"

Hirosue Ryoko will be appearing from the 4th episode of TBS Summer 2016 drama "Kami no shita wo motsu otoko" due to be shown on 29 July at 10pm and plays the role of the mysterious onsen geisha Miyabi who the lead character Asanaga Ranmaru has been searching for. To date, the name of the actress playing Miyabi has been indicated as a secret in the ending credits of the drama.

Ranmaru is able to detect the contents of anything he tastes including saliva and gastric juice thus he is unable to kiss any woman nor get into a relationship. However, when he kissed Miyabi on the night of his grandfather's wake, he was surprised to find that his ability to taste was rendered powerless and all he could remember was the feeling of happiness. As such, he wants to find Miyabi again to find the reason thus embarks on the journey to various onsen resorts to look for her.

Hirosue commented that she is honoured to be able to play a mysterious woman in this drama full of Tsutsumi Yukihiko's ideas and called upon viewers to continue watching in order to find out what will happen. Ryoko Hirosue to star in Fuji TV drama Special

Hirosue Ryoko, Igawa Haruka and Saito Yuki will be co-starring in the FujiTV drama SP "Kamoshirenai Joyutachi 2016" which will be shown on 10 October at 9pm. The drama SP written by comedian Baka Rhythm was first shown in June last year featuring Takeuchi Yuko, Maki Youko and Mizukawa Asami and described how these actresses' lives would have become if they made different choices at the turning points of their lives.

In the first story featuring Hirosue, she will play a struggling actress trying to make ends meet with her part-time job after she did not secure a role in the hit drama "Beach Boys" in 1997. Takeuchi will appear as herself in this story as a popular actress who Hirosue is jealous of. The second story featuring Igawa will describe how she tries to switch career paths from a model to an actress but with limited success as she did not release her hit photobook "Good vibrations" in 2001. She is irritated about the lack of progress in her stagnant relationship with her boyfriend (Fujiki Naohito) who is the president of a company. As for Saito, she plays the role of a former pure image idol who rejected the offer to act in the drama "Sukeban Deka" in 1985 and works as the mamasan of a bar now. While interacting with Kaho who plays herself and is a popular actress, Saito tries to regain the youth she lost by becoming an university student in her 40s.

Hirosue commented that she enjoyed the special and interesting setting in Baka Rhythm's story which mixes reality and imagination while Igawa echoed the same view about acting in a parallel world. As for Saito, she felt that it was worthwhile to act in this drama since there were many unknown things she could experiment with in the story.

In real life, Hirosue who made her debut in 1994, was a popular teen idol who became an actress and took part in many dramas and movies such as "Okuribito" in 2008 which won the best foreign language film at the Oscars. She remarried candle artist Candle JUNE in 2010 and has 3 children i.e. 2 boys and 1 girl. As for Igawa, she made her debut in 1999 where she switched from a model to an actress and has been seen in dramas and movies such as NHK Taiga "Hana Moyu" in 2015. She married fashion designer Matsumoto Atou in 2006 and has two children i.e. 1 boy and 1 girl. Saito made her debut in 1984 and was an idol who later became an actress and singer. She got married in 1994 and has 3 children i.e. 1 boy and 2 girls.

Ryoko Hirosue to guest star in episode 7 of FujiTV drama "Kizoku Tantei"

Hirosue Ryoko will be the guest star in Ep 7 of FujiTV Spring 2017 drama "Kizoku Tantei" which will be shown on 29 May. This will be her first collaboration with the lead Aiba Masaki and her first appearance in a Getsuku drama since her guest appearance in the 3rd episode of "Galileo" on 29 Oct 2007.

Hirosue plays the role of Tokura Mitsue, the second wife of Tokura Kenichi, the president of a major electronic parts manufacturing company. Kenichi lost his wife 15 years ago and has been assisted by his secretary Hatade Masako (Moriguchi Yoko) at work and in private and his children are supportive of them getting married. However, Kenichi surprises everyone by getting married to Mitsue who used to be a hostess working in Ginza and he even commits suicide 6 months later. This leads Kenichi's children to believe that Mitsue is the murderer and she wants to take over the family fortune thus they approach the detective agency to engage Takatoku Aika's (Takei Emi) services to investigate the case.

Hirosue commented that she is very excited about being able to work with such a star-studded cast and was shocked when she got the offer to play this character. As for her impression of Aiba, she said that he usually has this refreshing and bright image but it will be fun seeing him as a cool noble and facing off with him in the drama.
