Manami Konishi to make her music debut with a rap song

Manami Konishi will be making her singing debut with a cover of KREVA's song "Tranquilizer" (released in 2014). While Konishi has released "Sunny Day" under the name 'Fujiki Kazue', which was her role in the movie 'Sweet Rain Kamisama no Seido', this will be the first time releasing a song under her own name.

Konishi's cover of "Tranquilizer" will be included in the tribute album "monday night studio session" to be released on June 8. It will be available for download via iTunes Store on May 23.

Konishi commented, "Although I'm still not quite sure about the definition of rap, my feeling towards this song is the same as fans. I sang this song as I felt it." She will also make her live debut on June 26 at the event "elements night - sunday night session-" at Hibiya Outdoor Theater.

I found a short video clip (although there's no singing until just near the end) here: http://elements.fm/tributealbum/

Taizo Harada, Mirai Yamamoto, and Manami Konishi to star in new movie "Midnight Bus"

Harada Taizo will be starring in the new movie "Midnight Bus" based on the same-titled novel by Ibuki Yuki which was nominated for the 27th Yamamoto Shugoro Award and 151st Naoki Award and diected by Takeshita Masao. Co-stars include Yamamoto Mirai, Konishi Manami, Aoi Wakana, Nanase Kou and Nagatsuka Kyozo. The movie's scriptwriter will be Kato Masato while the music director will be Kawai Ikuko. Filming began from 1 March and will be entirely done in Niigata Prefecture. The movie is scheduled to be screened in cinemas next year.

The movie describes the story of Takamiya Toshikazu who quit his job in Tokyo and goes back to his hometown in Niigata to be a midnight bus driver. One night, he happens to bump into his ex-wife Kaga Miyuki (Yamamoto) who he had parted ways with 16 years ago when she boards his bus. This marks the start of a journey to restore family ties which had been broken and his interaction with the passengers he meets during his work. Konishi plays Furui Shiho who is Toshikazu's girlfriend while Aoi and Nanase play his daughter Ayana and Reiji respectively. Nagatsuka will be playing Miyuki's father Yamabe Keizo.

Harada who is starring in his first leading role in a movie in 13 years since Takeshita's 2004 movie "Jump", said that he went to get a bus driving license for the sake of this movie and has been thinking how to play a man who has suffered emotional trauma and is trying to make changes to his life. He also hopes that everyone will watch this heartwarming movie which they will put in their all to make. As for Yamamoto, she commented that her character is trying to find a way to re-enter the family she left behind 16 years ago. In order to show the distance in the relationship between Toshikazu and Miyuki, Harada and Yamamoto try not to talk to each other too much these days during the filming.

Haven't seen it. Looks like your standard parent and child that haven't seen each other for a long time and don't get along. Manami is the child and Renji Ishibashi the father. Probably not subbed, here's the trailer:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aX3IMcfqsR8

From her blog looks like Manami has become a full time singer now:https://lineblog.me/konishimanami/

I dunno. She's going from acting to singing. I've heard some of her singing efforts and people like Yuki Amami and Takako Matsu who went the other way, from singing to acting don't have anything to worry about.

Guess I'm not much of a fanboy, last Saturday was Manami's birthday and I completely forgot: https://www.instagram.com/p/BpdFiQjjP9V/?taken-by=manami.official

The bright, young actress that I first saw in "Hotman", seems like just the other day, is now 40. Like I needed another reason to feel old. Oh Crap

According to her blog, Manami is getting back into the acting side of things. First, she has a role in Machiko Ono's WOWOW drama "Zekkyo": https://lineblog.me/konishimanami/

It airs for four episodes starting March 24th, synopsis here:http://asianwiki.com/The_Voice_Calling_Your_Name

(Sounds like another WOWOW "don't watch this if you get easily depressed" drama.)

Then in May, she'll be doing a stage play with Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, "Kazoku no Hanashi" (scroll down a little bit farther on the blog link to see it)

From Manami's blog. Scroll down to the entry of a page written in English*. Play the video. Her voice in English sounds completely different from her voice in Japanese. I've seen this before. Kaoriko Kuge who does news for FCI also has a different voice when speaking English than when speaking Japanese: https://lineblog.me/konishimanami/

Head Scratch

* During the pandemic shutdown, she's trying to improve her English. The post above it with all the "Friends" videos, she's watching episodes of that to help her as well. Kind of like when we watch Japanese shows to pickup on our Japanese. Applaud

43 but she looks more like 23. Currently in the drama "Jani no hou Kanojo". Haven't seen any of it yet, but with Manami and Dotch Cooking savant goofy YOU, it might not be great but it should be entertaining:https://jdramas.wordpress.com/2021/10/21/janai-hou-no-kanojo-cm/

Yeah, what is it about Japanese women? Hitomi Kuroki is 61 and she looks more like 35. Must be the natto.
