Since her TV shows and movies aren't distributed in the U.S. I only discovered Asano Atsuko a few months ago when I got hold of a copy of "101 Proposals". But once I saw her, she instantly became one of my top 3 favorite actresses.
The woman is outstanding. She's --- Regal. She's beautiful, she's funny, she's powerful, she's talented... she's amazing.
Since seeing "101st" I've been scrambling, trying to find some of her other work. So far, I've seen "Love & Eros" and I've got "Maria" coming in on a trade.
It's not enough.
It'll never be enough.
It's frustrating as hell that so few of her shows from the mid 80's and early 90's have been translated and subtitled. _________________ Manga is to Literature

hi Geezer, so nice to hear from one more fan!
i would highly recommend the drama "Sashow- The Last Case" for you! it's one of the classics of Atsuko-san too.
Even though you only read English, i wonder if you have already grasped some ideas about this wonderful actress Atsuko-san from my website introducing her... she's really brilliant and fantastic. and she actually has made many popular classics dramas and big booms, not only her dramas but also herself.

The list of her shows goes on and on, and I want to see them all!
Sadly, I'm at the mercy of those who translate, and those who subtitle the shows. If they don't put out a copy... there's nothing much I can do but strive to improve my almost nonexistant Japanese language skills.
There are 3 or 4 of her shows available on ebay right now, but I have to force myself to avoid buying them. They're only subtitled in Chinese, and I know even less Chinese than Japanese.
Ah well, I can always hope that one day the Japanese Studios and the American distributers will wake up and start making Japanese TV shows available in the U.S. market. _________________ Manga is to Literature
