Synopsis
This second season of Hana Yori Dango picks up right after Domyoji leaves for New York. After confessing to Domyoji, Makino has not spoken to him for a year. Rui and the other members of F4 try and help Makino meet Domyoji again by going to New York for the christmas holidays. Though F4 and Makino meet Domyoji again, he has become a completely different person, and so they leave for Japan.

Some time later, Domyoji's mother annouces that they will be returning to Japan. There, they hold a giant super-rich and classy birthday party for Domyoji and annouce something very important. Domyoji, like in the first season, is engaged to a rich girl and heir. The only difference is that they are to be wed soon. What will Makino do?

On the side, Rui begins to fall in love with Makino... will this become a love... square?

1. Highly Diappointed [Rating: 7/10]
I was disappointed with Hana Yori Dango 2, and not because I had high expectations. I actually didnft have ANY expectations, considering that the second season is rarely as good as the first no matter the drama. The situations were too repetitive and over dramatic. Case in point: when Domyouji ran to the hospital after Makino fainted. The parents were in the room exclaiming to Rui just how much they appreciated his presence in Makinofs life. This scene came out of nowhere, and was far too random. Did her parents even know of his existence? Therefs no evidence to support their expression. And of course, Domyouji over-hears and leaves, instead of doing anything about it. And lets now forget how Tama randomly pops up EVERYWHERE.

The series could have been MUCH shorter. They filled the space with misunderstandings and miscommunications and the plot seemed to go in circles without any breakthroughs or resolutions. Most of the show is just a waste of time.

Mind you, the series wasnft completely unfortunate. For true Hana Yori Dango fans, this drama provided all the goodies. The characters were just as great, the soundtrack was awesome, and there a few good moments. The second half of the series improved so much so that it made up for the failure that is the first half.

Ifm glad they focused a bit more on the other two members of F4 (Shojiroh and Akira), and gave us viewers an insight to their individual lives. It was good character development, even if minimal. Rui, for the first time, started to annoy me a little bit. It was hard to read him and he seemed so gblahh about everything. I understand that this is probably a character trait of his, but I personally didnft like it and found it frustrating to watch at times.

Kato Natsuki was perfect as Shigeru | the unfortunate finance | but I think the writer(s) made a mistake in making her so grand. I started to like her best, and as a result, despised everyone else for using/hurting herc everyone else being the main characters of the show. I got all teary when they recapped her presence in their lives. She was terribly used and yet walked away with a smile on her face! It really made the other characters, like Domyouji and Makino, look cruel and selfish. Toda Erika (as Umi-chan) took the counter role. She was so nasty that you felt for Domyouji and Makino.

Anyways, I donft feel like I wasted my time watching this, but I do wish there was more to it then just a rehashing or re-writing of the first series.

2. Pretty Good [Rating: 10/10]
[WARNING - SPOILERS]

I felt Season two was just as good as one, but I really didn't like how there were just so many coincidences and caused so much conflict out of sheer misfortune. In season one there was more comedy as well as a better storyline, and in season two it involves a lot more drama and serious parts.

The cast played very well as always, though I felt that Jun and Mao acted better in season one because of the fact that they seemed much more cheerful and funny. I like how we get to see more of Rui, Akira and Nishikada.

The music is great as always, I REALLY loved Flavor of Life, whenever I listen to it I feel the emotions rushing back to me from the episodes where I cried since the song always played then.

The story was pretty good (excluding the coincidences). Shigeru added a lot of BANG to the season because of the conflict - I'm sorry to say but I didn't like her as a character; she was super crazy, then all lovey-dovey, then all evil and back to goody-goody. I think that she caused too much miscommunication for Makino and Domyouji.

I would also have to say to people who claim this drama was very predictible, that I disagree. This is because there were many characters that could possibly have gotten together with Makino and Domyouji. At several points into the drama I really thought that Makino would get together with Rui and Domyouji with Shigeru. Also because of the coincidences it was hard to predict what would happen.

Overall season two was really good. The only person I reallllly HATED was Umi. Totally pissed me off when she stole Domyouji AND almost killed Makino. My favourite parts would be when Domyouji went all tense and started making dumb jokes - shakePEER LOL,(I think ep4 or so), the part when they see Shigeru off and Domyouji and Makino hold hands (SO CUTE FOR LIKE 5 SECONDS ;_;), and a bunch of other parts with Makino and Domyouji together.

The ending was beautiful; I felt very satisfied after watching it and I would have to say it is a very good drama - Makino and Domyouji FOREVER. <3

3. totemo omshirokatta [Rating: 9/10]
The drama picks up from the last episode of season 1. It's actually a 2 hour seaon opener which explains why the first seaon had only nine episodes. It starts with Makino lost and alone in New York being robbed and about to attacked until her hero comes to save her. Could it be Tsukasa or somebody else?
Another excellent performance from everybody especially Inoue Mao and Matsu Jun. They got into their characters really well. Of course a few characters and guests were added into the series that made the drama more interesting. I liked Shigeru's character and how she always played an innocent villain all the way up to the end when she finally stabbed Makino in the back by lying to her only to take it back right away and play the heroine. They could have made Umi's character a little more evil but I guess they don't want her to be as annoying as Sakurako's character.
I was hoping they would have gotten deeper into Akira's background and maybe developed a sort of Gokusen story out of it. Instead they focused more on Shouichiro's love story. I was hoping they'd lay off Domyouji's violent scenes but I guess family entertainment is quite different in Japanese standards than that of American Standards. Seriously all these headbutting and beating up a group of guys by yourself gets ridiculous and redundant after a while. Because of my limited Japanese skills, I had to watch it in subtitles and was kinda disappointed with the translation sometimes. One of the funniest parts is how Domyouji is always using the wrong words or phrases in Japanese and I know it's suppose to be funny but it's not as funny translated.
Overall, I'm sad the series ended I kinda wanted to see more. the ending was the usual fairy tale ending but quite nice. HYD 2 is not a sequel but more of a continuation of the whole story so I suggest you watch it if you liked the first one. It's longer than the first one so you wouldn't be disappointed.

4. Different but still very enjoyable [Rating: 10/10]
This isn't quite as pacey as Hana Yori Dango Season 1 but still makes for very enjoyable viewing especially if you liked the first one.

Characterization and character development is given more focus in this series compared to Season 1 and I feel it's a good move as it distinguishes season 2 from season 1 and does not make this season feel like a rehash of old ideas form the first season.

It's amazing what good actors with a good script and a good production team can do. As was the case with the first season, nothing in the second can really be said to be that ground-breaking in the sense that they are both really pretty much genre products.

Still, even though Hana Yori Dango season 1 & 2 are very much standard romantic comedy fare, the characters are so well written and wonderfully performed, the script so logical and tight, the direction so firm and confident that you can't help but be drawn into the story.

So much credit must go to the two leads Mao Inoue and Matsumoto Jun because they really give so many layers to what could have be one-note characters. Both these young actors managed to convey the pain and the struggle of young people just trying their best to do what's right and yet at the same time preserve a modicum of dignity and pride so important to teenagers. Kudos too to Kaga Mariko for her perfect performance of Domyuji Kaede. Not only was Kaga Mariko able to bring across the ruthlessness and authority that Domyuji Kaede possessed in spades, she was also able to vary the look in her eyes so well that the viewer is always left feeling that there is more to her and in this way, Kaga Mariko was able to give her character depth.

Recommended.

5. Better than Expected [Rating: 10/10]
At first I wasn't sure how the second season of HYD would turn out. Since they already had included Ayano as the first fiancee, I wasn't sure whether they would still have Ookawahara Shigeru or not. I was hoping they wouldn't because she reallllly bugged me in the anime. But now, I'm really glad they still included her.

Kato Natsuki was the prefect Shigure, and I ended up liking her a lot more than I did during the anime. I'm sure they meant for everyone to hate Umi though, and they were pretty darn successful. Though the amnesia was an overload of cliches, it added nice touch for the near ending of the series.

I'm really glad they went into Soujiroh (I still have no idea what the proper spelling of his name is xD) and Akira's personal lives. I always felt they were under appreciated in the manga. And no offense, but Yuuki kind of annoyed me... a lot.

The proposal was VERY expected and cheesy, but still nice. The dance with the F4 was a great classic touch. It's seen everywhere in anime, but it always seems to make a great ending. As always, the actors were fantastic, and they acting was real and impressive. The music was great, and the insert song always seems to come in at the right moment.

Oh! And PS. Did anyone else CRINGE when Tsukasa ate Tsukushi's year-old cookie? I mean, it was touching and all... but the thing was a year old, probably hard as a rock, and possibly rotten. Fresh, homemade cookies don't have as many preservatives to keep them alive as store-bought ones do. I was surprised he didn't get sick after that, cookies can't last forever you know?

And of course, i knew I was going to come across this one. The always loved through whatever drama. Your saying to yourself you dont like it...It's cheesy... Matsujun must stay single all his life... Inoue must die... Stuff like that. *Clearance: That was all the opnions I got from some internet user I came across* But you cant stop and think, wow, for the first time in my boring life, I found something to do, is what your thinking. I'm guessing you were browsing the internet, or youtube, and spitted the famous, and somewhat, infamous, Matsumoto Jun-kun. You dont know him?! He's a Je-boy, yes, he's forever labeled as one, wether he quits or not. He's part of Arashi... yata yata yata. But you have to admit, this drama was *SAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKKKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO*
*cough* Yes, "saiko" or awsome. :)) I loved and laughed my way through this drama. I love Inoue's 'punch' to Matsujun. Well, what the? I'm talking about the second season here. Not the 1st one.

I honestly HATE Domyoji in this season. He's pig-headed, yes, pig-headed. I prefer Sho from Arashi... Well, whatever, you dont care anyway. He sees that Makino comes all the way to uh... Where was it again? NYC, right? Well, he doesnt even give a d@mn.

Though, I gave it thought, and it gets a 9.

7. A perfect ending for a perfect series. [Rating: ?/10]
As expected, hyd2 was just as good if not better than the first, in my opinion of course. Though the first season was amazing, funny and had a great story line, i felt that it lacked the emotion and seriousness that season 2 was full of. sure there were moments when you wanted to just turn off the t.v (like all the beatings domyouji so frequently gives out to random guys) but the moments that make you go "awwww" and "omg" were so worth the watch. For example, the part where domyouji and makino are stuck in a cabin during a blizzard in which he regains his memory loss, or the episode where hanazawa rui confronts domyouji about his feelings towards makino. The emotion was natural. I also particularly enjoyed the fact that they also focused more on the whole cast rather than just the main protagonist. they ventured into soujirohs long lost love story and susumi's love dilemna as well as akiras family life. although i would have loved to learn more about akira, they did a pretty good job in adding more to the other characters stories. if you are a true fan of hyd this season will not disappoint you. i loved it as much as the first and it made for a wonderful watch. if you love hyd you might want to watch the final movie, which was made instead of a third season. :)

10. Marred by racist stereotyping in the first episode [Rating: 6/10]
The second season was seriously marred by the use of negative stereotyping of African Americans in the first episode. If it wasn't for this the season would have rated higher for me.

The music for the most part was regurgitated from the first season down to the Harry Potter style music motifs which actually isn't a bad thing in itself, my only real complaint as regards the music was that I soon got fed up of hearing Utada Hikaru's Flavor of Life drowning out the dialogue every 35 - 40 minutes into each episode.Matsumoto Jun's acting was ok for the most part except when he was trying to hide something from his fellow F4 members, then it looked a little hammy. On the plus side, Matsuda Shota and Ogori Shun were good, however Kato Natsuki was even better and was the highlight of the show.

11. Decent sequel [Rating: 8/10]
HYD2 was highly anticipated given the success of its predecessor and as a result, I was a bit wary of a weak sequel as is often the case. HYD2 fortunately didn't deviate significantly enough to warrant major concern but it certainly was a bit less enjoyable than the original. There was too much teen angst and contrived situations that made watching the series sometimes rather unbearable. Overall, I'd say this isn't too bad of a dorama but you should probably only watch it if you enjoyed HYD. An 8 is probably a bit generous given that I'd probably put this more at a 7.5.

A little disappointing but still full of somewhat calculated surprises, HYD2 ensures its audience is in for a few (or many) ups and downs as it begins with its stars in New York and generates a casual pace from there. The generic plot then develops giving Matsumoto many girls to sift through and Inoue...well, she just has her usual sulking to attend to. If only people would talk to each other? No really, if they did that in this drama, the show would be over after one episode.

The second season of HYD is a lot less cheesier than the first season. Acting has improved a lot, and although first half was very cheesy and repetitive, it got better in the second half, with great guest appearances.
ARASHI's uLove so sweetv is P.E.R.F.E.C.T song with perfect match for this series. It made the viewing experience a lot better. Hikki's uFlavor of Lifev, however, was too emotional and serious for this series.

16. The Usual Sequel Syndrome [Rating: 8/10]
Didn't have any high expectations for the sequel because sequels never seem to do well. But surprisingly, it wasn't as bad as I thought. More focus was given to the supporting characters and there's a bit more expansion on the plot thanks to the love triangle. Some scenes were not neccessary as they didn't serve any purpose to the story. If you're hooked to the first one, you'd definitely love this one too.

Okay, now that the series finally ended last Friday, I will review this.

I am personally half frustrated about this series, half happy. And lord knows that everyone that praises this one so high really do it only for the cast of actors and not even for the story. Fandom... a scary thing!

Having read Hana Yori Dango for the first time almost 10 years ago now, this is still one of my favorite manga of all times, and not just me. It`s not exagerate to say that I had been looking very much forward to this series.

Now I thought in the first season that the directors had shot themselves in the foot by making it too short, and also leaving out key scenes. They left out so much that they had to "rewrite" a lot of scenes. For example, Sakurako abducting Tsukushi instead of Junpei doing it.

Now that left me very sour in the first season, and then in the second season, they come back with Junpei! O.O Why?? I mean Junpei had a fairly big role in the manga but they had already used his scenes with Sakurako. What now? Of course they had to rewrite that too.

In my opinion, they did too much rewriting and they lost the main idea along with it. Trust me, I am not the only one in Japan thinking this way. Yes it`s a nice series if it`s on it`s on! But you`re talking about Hana Yori Dango!

When did Tsukasa become.... lovable? Tsukasa was always an idiot in the manga... yet they managed to make him... endearing to an extent in the drama. That`s something I will never understand. -_-

Don`t get me wrong, it`s was a good drama in the making (and expensive) but it just wasn`t up to my expectations. I do salute the cast however for a great performances through both seasons!

Wooh, this is cool stuff. The first season was so excellent and good, but this season is the double! The cast has really improved in acting, they are really good. There were lots of surprising moments, especially in the end. There were lots of times were I went "Uuuah! Noway... Who who who?! Can't be.. !"
It was really exciting and I loved and enjoyed every minute of this. Everything you wish for is in this series; love, evilness, friendship, hardship, amazing and exciting moments.. I got really amazed by the strong bond of love between Makino-san and Tsukasa-san. I kept reapeting myself "How can they love each other so much? How can such strong love exist? How is it possible? Is it only dorama or can this actually be real; that kind of love?". It makes you think and wonder..

I highly recommend you to watch this dorama! It's one of the most best. It contains lots of surprises that you didn't imagine could be possible.

I was very annoyed with this one. After watching HYD S1, I was expecting this to be soooooo good, but I was highly disappointed!! Unlike the first season, which was filled with so much passion, good music, touching scenes, amusing jokes, and cute love that makes you warm inside, this drama was only struggling to watch, you got annoyed and sad every other minute and the fact that the Rui-problem was brought up once again made me very angry. No, this drama only caused you to be unsure if the ending you wanted would come, which it did, which made the whole drama unnecessary.... since HYD was very special to me, i don't want anything to ruin it, and this almost did. Why the 6? A pretty lame excuse actually, it's still HYD, with the characters I love.

(Watch the movie btw, it was watchable)

Just as good as the first season, in my opinion. While some of the same plots remain, new are brought in and add drama. While this season has a lot of angst and hardships, it doesn't fail to be comedic and enjoyable. With this season you learn to the love the characters even more- and get caught up in the love triangles that the show dances around. Like the first season, the music featured is stunning and fitting for the show- the type of songs that put you back into the story the second you listen to them. The moral of the story- love prevails- is shown beautifully and at the end you'll be crying and laughing along with the characters. If you liked the first season, watch this.

If i could give this series more than a 10 rating, i would. Every time i think about it, it gives me goosebumps and makes my heart flutter, seriously. I'm not one of those people who has never watched dramas and picked up Hana Yori Dango because their friends told them about it, then pretend to be an expert on the subject of dramas. On the contrary, i've watched many different dramas and feel i have a good point of view on the subject. This story of love makes me hope for true love and to fight for it. It's really a sweet story and makes me want to hug every character for their wonderful performance. 10/10, only because that's the highest possible rating. Kanpeki.

i cant really understand those saying that this was a disappointment. actually, this is good for a sequel. of course, there are lots of complication so you can't really expect this to be way better than the first. but it was good on its own, more complicated scenes, more matured characters. must watch if you're looking for a closure.

actually, i really love this sequel. though i must admit that there are lots of draggy scenes, this is not totally absurd. love love rui in this show. and of course, my ever favorite tsukushi. i really think that she's a great actress.

My first drama watched for 2007! The cast, as always, were superb in their roles. I enjoyed the slightly more serious tone of the series this time. But I felt like the love story between Makino and Doumyouji was far too drawn out. This became especially true in episode 10 when they began a new, although short-lived, love triangle! I felt like that story was put in just as filler. Still, the series was enjoyable! At last, almost a conclusion. I have a sneaking suspicion, however, that there will be series 3, or a special episode, in which even more hurdles crop up...

it was REALLY good!! I LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!! cast was 9.5/10. but it ended WAY too quickly and some things seemed really just rushed...like i mean hanazawari rui giving up just like THAT!?! come ON! and at the very very end when soujiroh didnt let yuki ride on his bike, i was like OMG WTF!? u STILL wont let her on!? its already like the END of everything!! poor yuki...but i still loved it. what a SHOCKER when shigeru did her "backup plan" i really liked it!! she was great :D overall, i still loved hana yori dango season 2. im gonna miss it T_T *sniff* gbye...

compared to the first season.. this is a BIG disappointment. it really was just fanservice to the people that loved the first. there are too many faults for me to really enjoy this one though--too many complications, everything was over dramatic, makino was getting REALLY annoying.. it was just too much. the only thing i really liked about this was the side story with soujiroh.. it was interesting to finally learn about him, but i don't think it gives justification for the series as a whole. for full review, check out my site: www.clearblogs.com/arashi

Full of surprises!! New York as the first scene absolutely created great impression!!
A job from good actors, good script & good production team has dramatically changed Hana Yori Dango as standard romantic comedy into a great drama that drawning u into a story and ending it with ethe worldfs best proposal ever.f SugOiii!!!
PS1: hi Jun!! u've got the chemistry with Inoue right?? I think thats one of important factor that make Hanadan sooo great!! perfect cast for perfect couple!! ^^
PS2: Ikutaaa Toma...u're great in acting!! luv it!

I found myself rushing to continue the Hana Yori Dango series and I was nicely surprised. :) The cast was even better with nice guest appearances and I'm happy to say that **MINI-SPOILER** all their hard work paid off. The interactions between the characters were very nice and the acting was good as well - though some things just made me wince. Then again, it's who the roles were, so who am I to complain? It's a really sweet romance and I can't wait for the movie to come out later this month! I HAVE TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.

I only watched this second season because i wanted to know how the story ends after season 01. And imo this was a slight better than season 01; Tsukasa changed a little and wasnLt as annoying as in the first one. The other 3 F4 members are still as entertaining as ever, specially Hanazawa Rui(played by Oguri Shun), heLs by far the best character of this dorama.
Maybe i didnLt enjoy the two main characters because iLm a guy and i canLt stand the way the two of them interact with each other(typical shoujo manga relationship).

HYD2 delivers! I had as much fun watching this as season one. The show is real eye-candy as everybody is soo good looking, from Makino to F4, from Yukie to MakinoLs brother, the prettiest being Rui. I gave this a seven because the plot is not entirely convincing, even less then in season one and because the corny wedding proposal in front of 1000 people followed by a badly choreographed dance made me cringe. It simply doesnLt fit a though ping-pong couple and besides, they are way too young!

I love this story and these characters so much. It was, of course, such a crazy, contrived story, but who cares?! It's Hana Yori Dango! I think some people didn't like the ending, but I did. I found it a little harder to believe that Tsukushi and Tsukasa would still be together at times, but I'm obviously glad they made it. The original series is a must-see, and if you're going to watch it, you might as well complete the experience and watch HYD2 and HYD~Final (a feature-length film).

I thought the first series was the most overrated drama of all time, and this is not quite as good as that one. But this is still much much better than the movie which frankly sucks.
I will say on a positive note about both HanaDan 1&2 that that Arashi boy is dressed up pretty stylish. My favorite thing is when he messes up his Japanese, but I probably find it funnier than it really is, just because it's fun to have progressed enough in my studies to be able to get those jokes.

I was so happy about getting a second season and it really was good, even though not as good as the first season, but I didn't expect that. It was kinda rushed in comparison to the first one and I missed some more emotional scenes, but all in all it was still very funny and adorable (I fucking love the main-actors... love 'em all... can never ever get enough of F4 and Makino!). And the end was just very very lovely... ^.^ (I could cry... xD It's over... oh I soooo miss them.)
17. Comments by dekatrain [Rating: 7/10]
18. Comments by Dr_Pain [Rating: 9/10]
Well for that - it wasn't that interesting like the 1st season but that was obvious right before the show started.
it's still the same problem so whatever happens it's not shocking at all cause you know that drama can't have a bad ending.
Don't ask me why but he has to be like that I think.
If you don't watch the second season it's not like you miss something important. okay maybe there is - Domyouji's perm. lol
but not more I guess. But for HYD addicts it's a must. xD
19. Comments by xiong_here [Rating: 6/10]
...yep, I watched it....the first was more enjoyable than this one. HYD2 felt too rushed, plot lines felt like they were smashed together and some characters just didn't work. Just because you have a cute face doesn't neccessarily mean its going to work out. I think it had a lot going for it but somewhere along the lines...like...episode two, it lost its charm and well...for completeness-sake I had to watch it. (Just like I had to watch Star Wars Ep.II and III....)

I don't know where they came up with the Meteor Garden as the English translation for the title. I guess it's the Taiwanese that did it.
However, JDorama translated it as Boys Over Flowers which made sense in a way but the title was from the popular Japanases proverb which literally meant "dumplings over flowers." It has a deeper meaning to it but Makino and Hanazawa Rui talked about it briefly during their trip in a car towards the end of the series.

With all the misunderstandings and lack of communication between the 2 main characters, this series gets tiring. The inclusion of a couple of female characters are another factor that comes between them. Throw in some Korean-style amnesia and we're in for a frustrating time. Still, this drama wasn't bad, it was actually pretty decent. Though with all the eye candy here, I'm sure that a lot of people (female) rated this series higher than it should be.

Not as good as the first but still worth a watch and I still enjoyed it very much.
It was nice to see how everyone had moved on and developed since the first show and the ending was really sweet and well desrved... especially after the last couple of painful episodes.
MatsuJun made me laugh so much in places his character can be agressive and arguementitive one moment and hyperactive and childish the next.
Anyway good show, fantastic ending! <3

A great 2nd season! The only reason it lost 2 ranking points from me was that there was a touch of fakeness in the plot, domyouji losing his memory and also at the start where he is so bitter and lost and also those random gangsters in New York... and there was another part but it would be a spoiler so I am not going to write it down. But on a good note, it really was spectacular and I am definitely happy with how it ended. A great second season

At first I was afraid that this series would be a disappointment like Gokusen 2, but when I saw that the entire cast was the same as the original Hana Yori Dango that reassured me a bit. This series is better than the first one to me because it shows the development of the relationship between Tsukushi and Domyouji, with a bit more input from Hanazawa Rui, Nishikadou Soujiroh, and Mimasaka Akira. And I love how the drama showcased more of Yuki.

Pretty good (just like the first season...) I didn't like the last episode tough.... That "thing" that happen with Tsukasa over the 2 last episodes was really unecessary (at least imo...) it didn add nthing to the plot... and it was kind of silly and unrealistic....!!!
Well... in the end... Hana Yori Dango is a quite enjoyable dorama.. If u like the first season u ought to watch this one (altough the first one was better than this one)!!!

That's incredible to continue to do so exciting!

There are even new faces, the new fiancé and the New Notice of engagement, there is much new suffering and screams!

At the end it will still Exciting, the amnesia of the main characters and the arrogance of the mothers, that's nothing against the will of the love between and Tsukasa Domyoji Makino Tsukushi!

I recommend the continuation to see!

April 2007: This sequel has way too many flashbacks, it's draggy and not funny anymore.... Seems like the producers running out of ideas to make the relationship between Tsukushi and Domyouji more tragic, it gets boring fast, whats the point of having Toda Eriko in the end anyway? Even though she's nice to look at lol. Luckily the hotness of Rui and Hikki's Flavour of Life made it watchable. Oh and Nanako =D

Yes, I do love this Dorama..I could watch it 1000 times and do not get sick of it. Oguri Shun is the most charming and sexiest guy, he knows exactly how to handle his role, MatsuJun plays the role of the rebel perfectly and Mao Inoue ist just a unique and great actress. The 1st season was awesome and this one becomes even better! You can expect a lot of surprises and new characters ! MUST WATCH IT!

The first season ended in a good enough place that you don't necessarily need to watch the second season, but if you do have time to watch the second season, there's no doubt you'll fall in love with Hana Yori Dango all over again. Even in such an unrealistic setting, the feelings, worries, and problems are very much real. Now that I've seen such a great drama, I expect the same out of all jdramas.

episode one was kinda jumpy.. too many scenes forcefully made to fit in one. BUT! i love how this version is so true to the manga and included all the best parts of the manga~ the ending scene was kinda corny, but the important thing is that it showed us how strong Tsukasa & Tsukushi's love is (as opposed to Meteor Garden II where Tsukasa actually fell in love with another woman.. >:( )

So sad that I have finished watching it..

Iam so hooked up in this dorama..

I even bought a dvd just to watch it..

Because season 2 is currently or not yet been aired in the Philippines..

So much for that.. Even though I have finished watching, it's not so sad because it gave me a relief that finally, after all the struggles, Domyouji's mom finally agreed Tsukasa fight for his love to Makino..

I know that even I beg here, my wish will not be granted.. Because I know i'm just a typical fan..

But, i wish that there is an upcoming season 3 and even season 4 w/ the same characters.. m_ _m

what is was the first jdorama i watched
after this i was hocked
the actors was wonderful in everything that had to deal with
at times u might wantted to beat down a few of them for the people and the choices that they chose but hey i guess that is what mad the show and because of that it was a realy nice show i would tell anybody to watch
over and over again

love love love! can i say more? no, need i say more?! the second series is just as good if not better then the first, simply because:
1)rui is able to demonstrate his character to a full depth and becomes absolutely irresistable
2)doumioji unleashes his intriguing side and continues to shine
the only negative feedback is that rui did not end up winning the girl:(
6. ishikumi
seeing as how the first season ended, i'm glad there was a continuation. not only do we get to peek into the lives of these wonderful characters yet again, but there is so much more stories to tell and so much more to learn. HYD2 Returns was beyond excellent; with all it's frustrations and tear-jerking moments, the payoff in the end made it all worth-while!
7. sevenine
Hana Yori Dango Returns has all the brilliant acting, top-notch production, and lovable characters from the first season. That alone makes it one of the top dramas of all times, even if the script is a bit weak at times. Definitely a must-watch though! There's something for everyone - plenty of eye candy, romance, laughter, and even some angst thrown in.
8. xEternal
A lot more drama was put in this season, and at some points the story moved very slowly but WOW! It was still very good. I LOVED it and it made me cry so many times, haha. Jun is amazing as always as well as all the other cast; the ending was so satisfying and it felt complete. Very recommended for people who loved season one!
9. Saito.Sama
In my opinion, even better than the first season. Finally an ending that makes sense. Through all the hard times Tsukushi and the others go through in this compelling drama, there is a good conclusion. This drama teaches you about life, love, sacrifice, and so much more. It is undoubtedly my favorite drama.

MY FAVORITE DRAMA EVER SO FAR!!!!
I could give away ALL my money to HYD's staff for them to continue this dorama!
This drama made me angry, happy, full of excitement, depressed... It touched me sooo much I kept crying AND laughing.
Tsukushi and Domiouji will remain FOREVER IN MY HEART!

I watched HYD Season 1, and by the end of the final episode I kept hoping that Tsukushi and Domyouji would eventually got together in the next season. The Season 2 is way more entertaining, as Domyouji keeps on making "bakka" comments, hahaha...
14. mrtasteyboy
definitely the same style as the first season, but i think the twists in the second season were made way better than the first, but i liked the first one so much that i had to get the second one. ahhhhh one episode left!

A must watch after HYD 1! Usually sequels are much worse off compared to the original but this is definitely not the case :) A really satisfying drama to watch with an awesome ending. ^^
19. docalion
A very well produced sequel to the first and involved more touching moments. Very highly recommended. This just proved how Mao and Jun are really meant to be the couple of the century!!!

I didn't think they could do too well after the awesome ending of Hana Yori Dango 1, but I was proven wrong! The story and the acting were both amazing! I definately recommend it!

Hana Yori Dango 1 and 2 are my favorite dramas by far.
