Synopsis
After graduating from the Tokyo University School of Law, Makoto Tamiya goes on to Harvard University where she earns an MBA. She later works at one of the "big three" networks in the United States as a news reporter. While covering a story on an international symposium in Paris, Makoto is scouted to work for JBC Television in Japan. The news producer at JBC wants to use Makoto to help raise low viewer ratings. He persuades her to work for him for an absurdly high salary, and also gives her the right to hire who she needs.

While Makoto is being brought in to be the savior of the News Department, one man gets transferred from the Variety Department. His name is Hiromi Nagase. Since joining JBC Television, all he has done is variety programs.

So now the News Department has Makoto who thinks high ratings are the meaning of life, and Hiromi who values the success of a program as just a tool for the full enjoyment of life. These two totally different personalities mix it up and somehow reach a mutual understanding, creating a delightful "light comedy".

1. love is in the air??!! [Rating: 6/10]
I watch this drama because of a possible electric interest that a NM-MF combination I thought might generate. Alas, a letdown for me.

While competent in their roles, there is no hot-wiring. The flaw lies in the script. The make-up of NMfs character - way too cool to frigid point whenever MF attempts to bridge a connection. Therefore, the hint of romantic undercurrent between NM and MF is not as well perceived as in gHeroh, heartwarmingly so between Kimura and Matsu.

NMfs hardened aloofness sets the tone of the relationship with MF throughout until it seems to dawn on the scriptwriter that the show is ending without so much as hot air between the leads and to pacify audience, insert an eleventh hour ghappily-ever-afterh closure. Eh??!!! It did nothing but markedly the empty promise of a romance.

Apart from the non-romantic development, it is still watch able for the 2 good-looking leads.

2. Brillian show [Rating: 9/10]
This drama follows the pattern of the "case by case" or "story by story" method, where each episode focuses on a specific story or plot and the characters go through each episode trying to resolve something. It's quite common to see this type of pattern in J dramas these days.
I liked this drama because they did such a good job of it, of connecting everything and making things run smooth and at a good pace. The story never got too fast or too slow, and each episode focused on an issue that's relative to today's world, and I can tell the writers did their homework on this one.
I don't see why people actually complained about the love story in this. I watched it for the conflicts within the news station and the love story was just in the background, and was never the focus. I personally like this formula, for it thickens the drama and prevents the drama from being too one-sided.

i loved it..!! so much so that i finished it in less than 2 days.. from the beginning, i already loved the setting in a newscenter.. and also the main cast of nanako and masha.. but as i watched on.. masha's character, nagase hiromi, slowly grew on me, and i fell in love with hiromi-chan.. his carefree attitude.. but always knowing when to be serious.. i loved his serious moments a lot.. because he seems so happy-go-lucky, when he is serious, it really shows how important makoto is to him.. nanako did well as makoto, protraying a successful career woman.. well she really looks like it.. the rest of the cast were funny and serious at the same time.. and i loved the scene of the studio and control room.. nagase looks so cool when he says [ok.. cue..!!]

4. Excellent Show! [Rating: 10/10]
I have no complaints whatsoever. I went into the show with no expectations. After the first episode I still felt a little lukewarm, but very quickly the storyline and characters grabbed hold of me and that was that.

I LOVED Matsushima Nanako. I always thought she was a bit overrated. I guess I just needed a role like this to make me see why people love her so much! And of course, I'm extremely attracted to Fukuyama Masaharu as an actor and I felt this role was great and fun.

I liked the dynamic between the characters at JBC News. I wish I had a workplace like that. It was so warm. And the small bits of romance were sweet and not overdone. Everything worked so naturally well with everything else.

It was a great watch. Woot!

I don't care what any of you say, I really liked this drama. Maybe it's the hype from just finishing it minutes ago, but still. In my past dozen dramas or so, I've learned that you can't always expect the love connection in a non-love drama. This one is one such example. Next time I feel like a love drama, I wouldn't mind poppin in Yamato Nadeshiko or Love Generation, but this one was just great too even if that one end scene was pretty fake (you know what I'm talking about if you just finished this). Coming from another news drama (News no Onna), I now find the news in Tokyo exciting. How funny would it be if it were to be the same old boring news that we get here in So Cal. Yes, how funny.

6. I enjoyed this one! [Rating: 9/10]
The 2nd highest rating show this season only behind "Good Luck". Nanako and Masaharu were good leads. A "Typical" heart warming drama evloves around a TV news room. Since there were many news room related dramas out there, that makes this drama storyline a bit predictable! A Worth watching show but not the bestcand the ending is too wide opened for my taste! They should throw in more ramantic scenes or at least expand the relationship between the leads. You would say "That's it!"!!!!

Honestly, I thought this series would spare the same amount of dialogue and shots for romance as HERO did. Fortunately, I was proven wrong. The series indeed focuses on the news hustle and bustle; but it tries to cram a snapshot or two of how Takamiya and Nagase were and how they tried to come to terms now. Basically, these little morsels dropped by the writer kept me hoping and excited about how the series would progress. Recommended.

8. Boring dorama, big disappointment [Rating: 2/10]
I only started to watch this dorama becasue I am a big Musaharu fan and Matsushima Nanako fan. But I must say I kinda had to force myself to finish watching this one, it was kinda boring and each episode was kinda predictable. Also I felt lack of chemistry between the two main stars. I had high hopes for this dorama but was utterly disappointed. Each episode seems pretty much the same that you quickly lose interest in the story.

love this show coz with nanako in it,the show seems special...anwya,the story line is good...and nanako is perfect as the head of the news team...love her acting and her expressions here..althos sometimes she is stubborn...i find the love relationship between the 2 lead can be considered under-developed...it would be better if there are more story between the 2 of them...overall a great show...

Matsushima Nanako, as usual, does a great job playing a top-notch producer weighed down by a less top-notch but highly dedicated crew. Fukuyama Masaharu, as Nagase, truly embodies the spirit and determination of the team and injects the needed heartfelt touch to this entertaining drama. Nicely crafted episode plots will keep the viewer more than satisfied.

Very predictable. The good thing was Matsushima Nanako's acting, that's what got me to go on watching it. Each episode is fairly self contained. And the series goes through each character's problems and finding the solution to the problem, etc.etc. very typical scenerio. BUT If you love Matsushima Nanako then it definately doesn't hurt to watch! :)

Exciting true to life stories from the TV newsroom. I was fascinated and glued to the tube every episode. Have not watched anything like this on television before. Loved the character of Makoto Tamiya so principled, elegant, driven. Loved her clothes. Nanako Matsushima shows another facet of her wide acting range as the serious, career driven TV executive Makoto who seldom smiled but has a soft heart.I love independent women. Masaharu Fukuyama as producer Hiromi Nagase was so cool, cheeky, goofy and laid- back. His flippant character was a sharp contrast to the unsmiling workaholic Makoto. The love angle was not bad either and the ending, pure jdorama- nothing specific but its left to the imagination of the viewer. And since I love happy endings, this one is a happy one.

I bought it but returned it because the VCD had a problem. But i still miss this drama. When 8TV played it, i watch it again. I like watching the beautiful Nanako Matsushima here with her pretty hair. That hair suit her role and suit for her too. Love to have hair like that. The story, kind of politically. But the atmosphere that shown in this drama was so real. It shows the real life as a news man behind the tv. Their office are the evidence of their busy work. When I watch this, I know that this job wasn't for me. I die doing job like this. But it's good to watch the hardworking people that are doing the job they like.

this is the first time i have watched fukuyama and nanako, and i must say that i liked them. the show reminded me of odoru daisosasen since the plot is mainly episodic and focuses on their profession. despite faltering in comparison to the much funnier and quirky odoru, i would still recommend this show.
the supporting cast was a bit annoying at first but each character is given some 'story' and development. i like sakuragi too.
i also liked the theme song. nice show to watch and learn from, but i don't think it is life-changing per se.
5. Comments by Sorata [Rating: 4/10]
This is another of those unsubstancial doramas(like Hataraki Man or Celeb to Binbo Taro), i really had a hard time finishing this up; not even the beautiful Matsushima Nanako was able to save this for me.
It was supposed to have a romance flick between Makoto(Matsushima Nanako) and Hiromi(Fukuyama Masaharu), but we get nothing on that during the first 10 episodes, only in the last episode you are supposed to "buy" that they love eachother blah.
In conclusion this is boring, boring, boring and boring again.
6. Comments by donna8157 [Rating: 7/10]
A good series focusing mainly on the lifestyle of a newsroom. Matsushima Nanako and Fukuyama Masaharu did a convincing portrayal of JBC's producers and the trials that they had to go through in order to pull in higher ratings seemed very realistic. The series had a really turbulent ending (the last two episodes), but the conclusion seemed a little too rushed. Other than that, I really enjoyed it.
7. Comments by mldesu [Rating: ?/10]
if first episodes are anything to go by, then this one's gonna be irritating despite the good acting from furuyama masaharu. i just don't get why it is that a successful woman like nanako has to suffer those kinds of indignities? can't a woman simply be successful in work and personal life?

music's interesting.
nanako looks harder and older. she was tons lighter in yamato.

At the begining of the drama, forming Nanako such a smart, bright, full of experience character, but in the 3rd onwaqrds eps, always made her character not sensible enough to handle things? i mean... doesnt dat contradicts itself?

Too bad the chemistry between Fukuyama Masaharu & Matsushima Nanako is... uh, practically non-existent! It's mostly because Matsushima's character is so cold and doesn't really "change" per se around him... otherwise, it's really entertaining and gives a very interesting look at the drama behind TV news production.

Can anyone play "bitchy but beautiful" better than Matsushima Nanako? I don't think so. A phenomenal cast, superb acting and excellent writing. Stereotypical J-Drama (read "predictable"), though, which is why I only gave it an "8." Favorite scene--the ending of the Valentine's Day episode. Darned lucky Masha!
15. Comments by jade_frost [Rating: 7/10]
Fukuyama Masaharu was the draw. Matsushima Nanako was kinda bland, playing a rather unchallenging role as the aloof ex. The overall story was fine but their relationship dragged out slowly by bits till the very end to a rather ambiguous closure. I was waiting for sparks to ignite...alas...

Very interesting show! Love the bickering between Nanako and Masa. They look very compatible and good together. I like the story background of a news tv station, it makes the story fast-paced. Nanako is very good at portraying a high class and professional business woman image.

Nanako is excellent! Good news drama, but News no Onna is better by far. I wanted to see more interactions with the two lovers. They didn't really build up their relationship that much. It wasn't that comedic as well. Overall a good drama, worth a watch. Nanako rocks!

this dorama is funny, tells the story about stubborn-beautiful-brilliant woman, who became an evening news producer in order to increase viewerships rating. Also the ups and down of the show, makes her realise her love to her former boyfriend who is one of her staff;

There doesn't seem to be much chemistry between Nanako & Masha. Plot is just above average. Masha is quite funny at times, but that's about all that is worth mentioning. Maybe the whole idea of a broadcasting job environment just dun fit in too well for me...

it was unfortunate that this drama was getting less hype because kimura's drama "goodluck" was dominating the ratings and pretty much taking most of the hype. This was a unique pairing up with Matsushima Nanako and Fukuyama Masaharu. A chemistry I really dig!!!
