Synopsis
Many sons and daughters of influential figures in the political and business circles attend Hyakkaou Private Academy. The hierarchy of the students are determined by their strength in gambling. The winners call the shots while the losers become slaves. One day, a mysterious, beautiful girl Jabami Yumeko (Hamabe Minami) transfers to the academy. She appears to be graceful and ladylike but is actually a gambling addict who gets a thrill out of taking risks. Once Yumeko starts gambling, she destroys her opponents with extraordinary perceptiveness and memory.

Albeit as crazy and "shonenjumpesque" as they come, this dorama and its sequel do provide a few hours of evasion and entertainment. Morikawa Aoi is a perfect "tsundere" type and Hamabe Minami does also really well as the compulsive gambler - managing to be at the same time funny and scary when she goes "gamblerserk" and shouts/utters/whispers - depending on the episode - "Kakeguruimashou!". I might raise or lower the vote depending on how they wrap everything up in the subsequent movie (unsubbed atm), though...

This is based on a popular manga//anime about a school where hierarchies are determined by gambling abilities. This is very loud and irritating and gave me a headache. Acting is so exaggerated it's hysteric and you'd expect the kids to suffer a nervous breakdown any second. If elimination games are your thing Liar Game is a much more interesting adaptation in that genre or even the Kaiji movies.
