1. "Ungood"....>_< [Rating: 3/10]
Just finished watching "Unfair"...and I'm sorry, but honestly, I found this bad. And I don't mean "well, a bit bad"; not even "hmm, quite bad"...I mean REAL bad, bad bad...Walker-Texas-Rangers-bad... =__=

I can't help thinking that to make Shinohara Ryoko play a role that seems like it's been written for Dolph Lundgren (hell, seems like it's been written BY Dolph Lundgren!) it's such a tremendous waste of talent... T__T

I noticed that not only this dorama has been quite popular, but basically everybody else here gives it a good vote...so I dunno what to say, it seems as if I've watched a different dorama, but what can I say? Imho half of it is so damn predictable (like a bad mix of all the worst Hollywood cop-movies), and the other half is either ridiculous or plain absurd...take i.e. the "twists & turns"

[---> warning: MASSIVE SPOILERS follow <---]:

at first it's a revenge murder and the culprit is the hopeless ghost writer, but then no, it's not him, it's the editor...and then all of a sudden it turns into a kidnapping and the culprit's the babysitter, but then no, it's more than just a kidnapping, it's a stock exchange hoax and behind everything there's actually the ugly-Betty-turned-dark-lady-in-a-blink-of-an-eye, Hasumi...but then again it's more than that, it's a serial killer, and it seems like it's the ex-husband...but then no, it was all a big conspiracy and the real culprit is Andoh....DOH! O__o

...and then again, in the 1st special it becomes an even more improbable "armed revolution conspiracy" by Yasumoto (and a weirdo with bad teeth who keeps sticking his tongue out like an iguana!)
And finally in the later movie we discover more traitors - even when they're not, they still are highly suspectable to be, so watch out for future revelations! Oh, my... >__<

I've read that the dorama's gonna have a second run, and I wonder where the authors are gonna take it next...who knows, perhaps we'll find out that it was all a conspiracy to take over the world and the mastermind behind it was Mio-chan? *__*

Again, I'm sorry if I sound harsh and all I wrote is of course just my very humble opinion ^_^; (feel free to strongly disagree, and please take no offense if this is your fave dorama), but as I said, I found it really, really, really bad.

2. I KNEW IT! [Rating: 8/10]
When I first started watching this drama, I was under the impression that there was a different story (case) for each episode, and so I didnft really pay attention in the beginning. Man, was I surprised when the entire drama seemed to revolve around one massive case!

This show is dark and at times quite creepy, and I loved nearly every second of it. Ifm not going to say anything regarding Ryoko-san, because everyone already knows Ifm a huge fan of hers. Nor will I go on and on about how amazing Eita was. What I will say is that I was totally blown away by Hamada Mari and completely creeped out by Terajima Susumu (who, btw, is smoking even at this age).

The storyline/plot/mystery case was amazing. There were ever so many twists and unexpected surprises. There are some parts, even now after some reflection, that I think were a bit farfetched. Ifm not sure the three components actually make sense as ONE case the way the end came out.
OMG! By the seventh or eighth episode I knew Ando was the murderer, but even until the very end was like gplease donft let it be him, please donft let it be himh. Ifm still disturbed by the outcome!
Cinematography was excellent, the acting was solid, and the mystery was gripping. What more do you want in a mystery show except a tub of popcorn with which to watch it?

3. A Must Watch! [Rating: 9/10]
Gripping storyline that keeps you interested and excellent acting. The little girl is amazing; Shinohara Ryoko once again does what she does best - acting the tough woman, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Abe Sadao play a serious character because I've only ever watched him do comedy. The twists in the plot flow with the story and don't come across as forced as they sometimes do in suspense dramas; some ends left untied but that's acceptable as a long explanation of how, who, when and why would just drag down the story (plus one never ever knows the whole truth). Didn't get the point of the nudity and I found it hard to agree with Yukihira's sense of justice which was to shoot down criminals with little explanation, but the ending in its own way did sort of bring to light that what Yukihira had done was perhaps wrong. And it does make you think about the unfairness of the world and the unfairness of the justice system and people passing down judgment and punishment upon others.

4. "24" in dorama [Rating: 8/10]
An atypical dorama, with a serious plot, very good acting (Shinohara Ryoko amazing as always, although does not play the comic part this time), and fast pace. It reminded me a bit of the American series "24", with its pace and the surprises at each episode. And there is a little touch of comedy too, which I was looking for, with the supporting cast.

What I enjoyed in it was:
- The plot, very good and full of surprises
- The acting, from everybody - top notch
- The humour, not the main thing but always there to brighten the mood a little bit
- The fact that all episodes are different
- The last scene of each episode (I loooove when the last scene leaves you hanging over the edge of the cliff)
- The scenario, close enough to being possible

What I enjoyed less:
- The Special, not really worth it I think, although I appreciated the effort to make it a good story anyway

A must watch I'd say, for a different yet very good dorama.>

finished Unfair. and i as far as i can remember, under 24 hours

when it got to the climax that started on episode 7, all i can say is OH MY GOD! it's one hell of a plot!

not going to comment much. let's just say, the plot deserves 10/10 !
but...
it needs a little more character development
and also it tends to go around the same circle too many times, it had a little too much spins, all about a new suspect showing up. so the progress is a little bit draggy.

it's daymn worth watching!!! superb plot. and surprisingly superb acting, looks like i underestimated the casts.

this is one of those one-sit doramas. i don't think you'll be able to stop watchinf after the 7th episode

8.5/10 but more of an 8/10

6. Begins with Predictability, but Then TWISTS at the [Rating: 8/10]
Love it, I cherish it. The whole thing was puzzling til the very end. This is what I call a mystery, and a suspense. All the acting was just right, and the clues still left you breathless for who was the REAL culprit. I don't think it's totally perfect, there were some flaws in it, but it was pretty much a great story for anyone to enjoy. I didn't like how Shinohara's character waqsw naked, because there really wasn't any purpose for it, and I could kind of tell it wasn't her...otherwise they'd show her face or something...
But either way, this is a worthy drama to watch, it a little more techinical so it's best to have the subtitles or know Japanese.

I love Shinohara Ryoko! After watching Anego, I couldn't wait to watch her in this drama! The plot has definitely got to be the best part. You think you have it all figured out and then *bam!* the plot twists and you realise that you were wrong! It's surprise after surprise throughout the drama. Some parts might get a little dull, but only a little. The only thing I don't get is why Shinohara Ryoko has to be naked in her house?? Totally irrelevent to the story. How each case connects to each other might make your head spin a bit, but otherwise, totally worth watching!

8. Ryoko doesn't disappoint! [Rating: 9/10]
Shinohara Ryoko carries this dorama from beginning to end. Her presence is as dominating and as strong here as it was in Anego. Building on her screen presence is the riveting and at times teasing storyline, drawing the viewer in with the sense that we're just 'one step away' from solving the whole thing. The supporting cast was great; Eita has definitely been in some good doramas recently between Unfair and Nodame. Loved Ryoko's cellphone ring-tune - very appropriate for this dorama.

9. Smart, fast-paced and totally gripping! [Rating: 10/10]
Natsumi Yukihira is despised by almost everyone. It's not because she is a low-life criminal. On the contrary, she is the most honest, diligent, responsible cop there is. However, her straight and unflexible way of justice rubs ppl in the wrong way.
Hence, the drama unfolds with a series of murders that all connect to her in one way or another. She has to peel off layers of lies and dissect the truth in order to crack the conspiracy and put an end to the killings.

I REALLY HATE suspense drama like this, This series really makes me want to finish it in one day, because i'm really curious about the ending. The ending was really great, but then suddenly Special of this drama was appeared, and that special ruined my mood because the deadman came alive in the Old trick video and gave her a clue(Just watch and you will understand that), because of this i only give 9 point to this series. Honestly, i don't want to watch the Special Episode but the Movie was out and i must watch the special to understand some part. Really Looking forward for The UNFAIR 2 "The Anwer". The cast was great, Shinohara "Baka ka Omaewa" really cool, Eita as ando was did a good job too. Sezaki and Makimura-san did their job really well, impressive. The one who makes me Sick is Hamada Mari as Hasumi, come on at least other actress like Mizuno Miki, Norika Fujiwara, or Izumi Inamori will make Hasumi Character More interesting. My advice for everyone who have interest in this drama, DON'T READ THE COMMENT or REVIEW in this Jdorama because their so much SPOILER, i'm lucky because i don't read them in the beginning.

Another detective drama with Shinohara Ryoko as the female lead. She's a tough and able-bodied detective who teams up with a partner played by Eita. As a detective, she doesn't always play by the rules nor does she follow the standards that other people go by. She's demanding and she's not intimidated by the criminals that come her way, at least that what she seems like on the outside.

Shinohara Ryoko does a good job as playing a detective, her confidence and command definitely helps on screen. Her overpowering character kind of overshadows everyone else in the end though. Aside from that, the storyline was somewhat interesting, a little cliche but that's to be expected from most detective dramas. A few episodes were slow, but speeded up towards the end. Overall, it was an enjoyable drama to watch, but not one of my favorites. I also thought that Shinohara Ryoko had a better performance in "Anego".

Wow...I crown this drama to be the best I've ever seen. The cast was great; all of them had superb acting skills. It helps, of course, that Shinohara Ryoko is the lead actress. Her other drama Anego is probably my second-favorite drama of all time. I loved the interaction between her and Kato Masaya, who also appeared in Anego. And the little girl is absolutely adorable!!! As for the story development, the plot was intense and mind-boggling, yet it all seemed to make sense at the end. Not to be cliche, but definitely kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time (or more like curled up in my chair for fear that the murderer will jump out the next second). Also, excellent ending song by Ito Yuna. I think the reason why I couldn't stop crying at the end was partly due to the ending and partly due to the lyrics of Ito's song. Definitely a must see!!!!
4. Comments by Susan [Rating: 7/10]
For the most part this is an awesome series. Shinohara Ryoko put on one of her best performances and the plot was very compelling. Every time a twist came in I was genuinely shocked and I found myself anticipating the episodes more and more, rather than having my interest drop off as with other series.. However, from early on it was obvious that a certain character would turn out to be involved in the crimes, if not responsible for them, and why. Thus the ending came as no surprise to me whatsoever... Except when that character's lousy speech came on, which surprised me with its stupidity. The one thing that was not handled well was the relationships between the characters, and their lack of change in motivation. It was so unbelievable and in the end very cheesy. Way to ruin a great series. Sheesh!

I just love this dorama.. even I wasn't so happy about the ending... because it's like how the title says it really "unfair". But maybe it was the key why this dorama was so awesome. I couldn't stop crying at the end... because it's was really cruel how it ended. Ryoko was an absolutely awesome and wonderful.. no words for it. Eita was awesome, too. I think it's the first time that I abslutely like his role.. maybe that's why I think the dorama ends to cruely... Actually when you think about the whole story it really sometimes didn't make sense, so one would think this cannot be.. but to the whole I still would give it a 10, because it was scary, sad, dramatic, exciting, happy, romantic, and even sometimes erotic. So mostly everything what a great drama needs.

Thoroughly enjoyable show, with some good performances by the lead actors. The plot was a bit up and down, but generally it kept me interested enough to be looking forward to the next installment, particularly near the end.
Ryoko Shinohara is excellent as tough-girl cop Natsumi Yukihira, showing Yukihira's vulnerable side on occasion. Ryoko-chan is not classically pretty like, say, Yukie Nakama, but is one sexy lady. Eita is his usual messy-haired self. He always seems to deliver, even if it is solid rather than spectacular performances. Mari Hamada is a scene-stealer as Hasumi Anna. And Mukaichi Mion is simply adorable as brave little Mio-chan I also enjoyed Kagawa Teruyuki as Yukihira's ex.
8. Comments by SayaOtonashi [Rating: 7/10]
This was a quite entertaining dorama with many, many twists and turns that sometimes didn't feel very well connected. Since it had not so much character development, I ended up suspecting everyone. Shinohara Ryoko was superb. I must say I had read the spoilers so I knew who the culprit was from the very beginning, but it was funny to try finding any errors in the storyline, and sincerely, some things didn't match for me, and they were not explained at the end of the series. I gave up watching both the movie and the special; although it is a quite good dorama, when I finished it I just had enough about it.

This is one of my absolute favorite doramas of 2006. But then again, I am a sucker for mysteries, especially murder mysteries, no matter how much they scare me. And I love that it's only ONE case they are solving all the way through, and they pulled it off extremely well. This was amazing. It kept me on the edge of my seat, had me screaming in anger, hiding in fear, and then making me want to cry. AND THE TWIST! AH STOP TOYING WITH ME EMOTIONS! Like an exceptional mystery dorama, I was shocked to see how things unfolded- I hardly suspected a thing. Unfair na no wa dare ka?

This is one where you have to just suck up the poor initial pacing and power through. Once you get to episode 7 things really start going plot wise but there are still a few problems with the execution and I personally don't really like Shinohara's acting at all through this. Eita on the other hand really delivers in this drama as the story progresses with his character getting more and more scenes. Unfair really shows that he deserves to be elevated to leading man status. Check it out, subtitled police dramas are hard to come by and this is a good one.

ryoko shinohara all the way, i loved the fact that she was always 'in the nude'. eita also played his role well...i was addicted to this show and watched the entire series in two days. my only problem was that the twists were sometimes too contrived and some of the show's premise was a bit illogical. i also actually kinda predicted the end... don't ask me how. oh and i liked how there was a narration for the intro. highly recommended as long as you don't think too much.

The ongoing case seems to involve the people around the protagonist. And sure the characters in the story also have their own lifes and problems. Luckily this aint those explanatory type of dorama thriller/suspense, yet the pace could have been much better. The last few eps fare much better, the middle ones are the worst.

Interesting story. It's fast, smoothly developed, but not too complicated to follow. Ryoko Shinohara was just wonderful to be an intelligent, smart, and beautiful woman cop with 100% success in every case. I'm not quite satisfied with the ending, supposed it had better ending for Eita :( Who is unfair ?

Shinohara Ryoko, Eita, and the rest of the cast were amazing. I hope you guys will enjoy this one as much as I did. I got so hooked I watched it while studying for my Finals XD

This is the number one drama of all time!!! (so far at least) The development of the story was perfect, the acting was perfect, the tear-jerking factor at the end was horrible in a good way ^_^ Once again, Shinohara Ryoko rules all! =P
5. hummer
It may seem like a typical crime drama in the beginning, but it just keeps leading you on with new twists and discoveries.. Then they drop the biggest bombshell at the end and BAM.. you're entirely won over..

although the twists and turns were slightly contrived, this was the first show i had to finish in one go. ryoko shinohara defies age, and i cant imagine the fun she must have had stripping.
7. Kotori
I just love this drama!!! Riyoko did such a good job in that... It makes me want to become like a powerful woman as her! I cried so much at the end.. really worthy to watch!!!

I love this series... it's absolutely wonderful. Shinohara X Eita combo is so great as well. The story line... the characters... the soundtrack... everything.
