Synopsis
Based on the popular comic book saga of the same name created by Suzue Miuchi.

Its central figure is Maya Kitajima, an average high school girl with one remarkable talent--impersonating TV actors and actresses. As is often the case in this kind of story, Maya is "discovered" one day by Chigusa Tsukikage, a well-known actress who retired from the limelight after an accident that left her face terribly disfigured. The ailing actress sees Maya as her successor, who will one day perform the title role in a legendary play called "Kurenai Tennyo" (The Crimson Goddess), to which she owns the production rights. Having decided to pursue acting as a career, Maya leaves her mother and joins Tsukigage's company. The transition does not go smoothly, however, as Maya soon becomes the target of practical jokes at the hands of her jealous colleagues...

1. A very "Adachi Yumi" drama. [Rating: 7/10]
I like the drama cos I like Adachi Yumi since "Without Family".

This drama has strong manga element in its storyline, so it's a little like reading manga, since it's based on one. Therefore the storyline is a bit stereotype in some parts and exaggerating. But I can handle that. Afterall, it's a story to entertain , not to make believe. And the ending, it gives a hint that there will be a second part to it and of coz you will want to watch it.

Like in "Without Family" Adachi Yumi played a poor ordinary girl with an extraordinary life, her struggle to survive in the infamous acting industry. Adachi indeed fit the character well, cute yet ordinary, a little too short though. And she did a good job playing Maya I think, though sometimes her acting was a bit unnatural.

Other casts like Tanabe Seiichi, I began to like his character after the first few episodes. Not bad. Also, I like Kohashi Kenji and Matsumoto Megumi, a fair part they played in this drama. And not to forget Nogiwa Yoko, who played Tsukikage sensei. I like her part, despite of that wig which looked a bit weird on her and the black dress that she never changed.

Overall it's interesting, and I was hooked on it. Worth a watch. And if you are a big fan of Adachi like me, then you shouldn't miss it.

2. Highly recommended for fans of Garasu No Kamen man [Rating: 9/10]
I LOVE IT! Finally, we can watch the manga comes to drama. Not very much different from the manga version, although some of Maya and Ayumi's play aren't viewed in the dorama version. But i highly recommend it for those of you who are big fans of Garasu No Kamen manga.

3. Fun [Rating: 8/10]
Adachi Yumi steals the show as the charming and talented Maya.
The supporting cast is terrific as well in the anime/manga based story of a young actresses trials in her search for perfecting her art.
Very addictive.

Originally a manga and if you're a fan of it and/or either of the two anime series based on it, you will probably love this as a faithful adaptation. The problem is that it ends up extremely cheezy as live action, for example the dresses that Ayumi wears or the way people will talk about Maya in front of everyone but they act unaffected other than screaming at Maya "what's wrong" etc. I think Tanabe seiichi as Masumi is about as good as can be expected, appearance wise, for a character who seemed caucasian in the manga/anime but he could've acted "cooler", Adachi Yumi is maybe slightly off for Maya but she is so adorable that it works great, and honestly this whole drama is largely just a vehicle to make another Ienaki Ko. In summary great for fans but I don't know if non-fans will "get it".

I have been addicted to the manga since I was a little girl and of course, very excited to see the drama. But after watching 1 episode of this I realize that not all manga should be adapted to the screen. The imagination and fantasy of the manga is gone somehow... The female lead is really trying very hard but it's weird when I know that it's an 'actress' acting like a 'great actress'. And I don't think the male lead is macho/kakkoi enough to fit the character... somehow I was expecting an equivalent of a 'rich and powerful Richard Gere' kind of guy. :(

I didn't think I'd like this drama cause it's so old, but to my surprise, I love it. Maya was cute in the beginning, but her smile got on my nerve. I like Seiichi, he was really sweet. Only thing I have a prob with is the huge age and height difference between the 2, it was weird to watch. Do wish there is a more solid ending.

Compelling and dramatic as the anime, Adachi Yumi and the rest of the cast give terrific performances. The only reason not to be marked higher was a slight repetitive quality in the final episodes. But really enjoyable certainly for a Do Your Best story.

I thought it was a pretty interesting idea for a showw, I love shows based off animes. And I felt the actors did a good job on this one. Even though it's pretty old now it's still good. I really wanna see the 2nd series now ^-^

adachi yumi is such a great actress.. it's hard to ACT as an actress, but she did it greatly.. the love story a bit strange though, the actor who played as masami is too old for maya.. looks like a pedophillia

I wasn't able to watch all of its episodes, but I think it's a very deep and different kind o' drama... I heard it was based on a manga, but the author wasn't able to finish it b/c he died...

It was really dramatic, but so was the anime. Kinda uncomfortable to watch at times. I thought the lead actress was a good Maya though.
