Synopsis
With her husband rarely home because of work, Saito Masako raises her kindergarten son by herself. With a strong sense of what's right, she is never afraid to confront people who violate the rules of society. While her righteousness makes her a heroine among the kindergarteners, their mothers have learned to keep their distance from all the trouble Saito brings with her.

Mano Wakaba, a soft-spoken mother who had problems with her son turning violent at his previous school, soon moves into the neighborhood. Eager to get along with the other mothers at the kindergarten, Mano does her best to please, and pushes her son Takeru to do the same, even if it puts her at odds with Saito. When Takeru gets burned by a smoker whose cigarette brushes his face, Mano is content to let it go, but Saito steps in to confront the man, asking for an apology. When the man stubbornly refuses, a scuffle ensues and the man runs away. When the bystanders watching begin clapping their hands, Mano is left in awe. As circumstances push her and Saito together, Mano must choose between bending over to please the other mothers or joining Saito and facing alienation.

1. Unexpectedly Complex! [Rating: 10/10]
I have to say that Saito-san was a surprisingly enjoyable series for me. Though I initially passed on it, I decided to check it out recently and finished it off in just a few days. I was really impressed by the cast, especially Mimura. She pulled off her role so convincingly and I fell in love with all of Mano's little quirks. Her nervous stutter, her hilarious made-up songs, her skipping, and her colorful facial expressions! Mimura stole the screen every time she was on it and out shined even Mizuki Alisa, who was also superb. One of the other aspects of the series that really defied my expectations was the episodic nature of the series, or lack there of. Initially I expected every episode to have some incident where Saito-san saves the day, solves someone's problems, and makes a new friend. But I was pleasantly surprised to discover that is not the case. In fact, the plot of the series and relationships between the characters turned out to be pretty complex and I appreciated the writer's attention to detail and truly awesome characterization! Mikami (Takahsima Reiko) was probably the most well-made character besides Mano, and perhaps even more so. In episode one she came off as a shallow, high-class woman, but as the series went on layer after layer of her character was stripped away to reveal each and every of her complexities. Perhaps Saito-san won't impress everyone, but this is most definitely a drama worth at least checking out!

2. Another OL hit! [Rating: 9/10]
This show reminds me of uv (morality) classes I took in elementary school in Japan.

There were some very excessively cheesy scenes in this series, but there were more than enough touching moments to make up for it. Although I found Mimura's character quite annoying, this is a very well-casted dorama where everyone fit their roles perfectly, and characters developed really well. Mizuki Arisa's acting was very impressive, especially in the final episode.

I'm a guy, but I was able to sympathize with the characters' concerns, and this series really touched me. It kind of brought back memories of when I was a little troublemaker, and made me realize how much trouble I caused to my parents.

Recommended.

Mizuki Arisa (Oniyome Diary). Dealing with moral issues. Mizuki always standing up for what's right while the others would prefer look away ~cowards. Some episodes dealing with the bullying high schoolers, some with the little kids, and some the parents. It's nice to see the change in Mimura's character through the series - her bubbly personality sometimes can't help but make you laugh. I enjoy watching Mizuki Arisa and I'm glad she came back with a good one. Oni Yome Nikki 2 wasn't as good as the 1st and CA to Oyobi was awful. Takashima Reiko - always professional, sharp, attractive lady. Casting did someone a favor on Mimura's boy (ugly + squeaky voice).

This story revolves around the housewives of a neighborhood. When encountering injustice, the neighborhood usually wilt to pressure, yet the protagonist stands up for her ideal, which makes her an outcast in the community. In EP1, we saw her protecting her son's kindergarten from bunch of crooked high school kids whose leader happens to be the son of a congressman. PASS.

Very interesting drama on right and wrong, I guess all of us would like to be as strong as Saitou San but I guess I'm probably more like Mikami San.Mizuki Arisa, Mimura , Takahashi Reiko and all the ladies did real good.

A bit too cheesy and contrived at points for me but I suppose the message is good. I'd recommend it to parents and children for the most part.
