Synopsis
A TV dramatization of a popular comic about the comic publishing industry. Haru Kuroki stars in a serial drama for the first time as a novice editor. Other editors and cartoonists are played by cool and edgy actors. This human drama depicts working people who have a strong passion and pride towards their work.
Kokoro (Haru Kuroki) who was once an Olympic candidate of Judo, starts working in the major publisher - Koto Kan. Assigned to the editorial department of Vives - a weekly comic magazine, she starts learning the basics of editing. Along with the deputy chief editor, Iokibe (Joe Odagiri), she goes to a meeting with the most popular cartoonist of Vives - Mikurayama (Fumiyo Kohinata). Although she is excited by the real comic production at first, later Mikurayama rises turmoil by telling that he will take all of his submitted work back from the publisher.
Through her work as an editor, Kokoro begins to feel as fulfilled as when she used to play Judo. Their mutual goal is to make a comic that can get reprinted, in other words, make a sleeper hit. With the help of her colleagues and cartoonists, Kokoro strives to make a "sleeper hit".

An absolutely lovely view of the manga industry, without the over-the-top attitude of many such stories! Beautifully scripted and masterfully acted by the whole cast! Selecting a personal top3 list of the best performances, I really loved Kuroki Haru as the former judoka turned energetic manga editor, Odagiri Joe as the calm and deep senpai, and Matsushige Yutaka as the crazy editor-in-chief / Hanshin fan (though I may be partial here, being a torakichi myself :))

This was a lot better than anticipated - the heroine is called Kokoro so I expected a lot of cheese. it's still a 'naive gambaru heroine enters professional life' drama but the casting is excellent and the stories around manga publishing feel real(ish). I also liked that Kuroki Haru (Kokoro) looked the part of an ex-judaka, a bit tomboyish and not overly cutesy and that there is no romance.

Adorable drama about manga editors. Stellar cast and characters. I particularly like the pacing with the series being only loosely episodic with many continued storylines which play out through the drama. Manages to be both funny and a tearjerker from time to time. :)

Good drama, got better as it went along, I thought Kuroki was great. My only complaint is that I thought they had too many subplots involving minor characters. If they had concentrated on just a couple artists and the editor it would have been even better.

Last episode was really cheerful, crowd-pleasing. Nice ending to a good series. Despite the story being a bit too scattered, it was well-written, directed and acted. I enjoyed it.

Highly recomended:)
