Synopsis

Become the person that you want to be.

Although spending some time blowing off steam with friends, the majority of those that work in the heart of the big city spend much of their time commuting back and forth to work.

The unemployment rate these days is up to 6%.

Not knowing when they may get laid off, people are always searching for a place that they fit in, and for some meaning to their lives.

"Friendship" is the story about the daily lives of a group of young adults searching for ideals while trying to live their lives to the fullest. Although they work in totally different jobs, they always have time for their good "friends."

There never seems to be an end to the conversation when these "friends" from different walks of life get together and talk about their dreams and about love.

It requires a lot of energy to even lead just a "normal" life.

No matter what it is they run into, or get involved in, they put their best foot forward in everything they do.

Eventually they find a little courage, and learn that their values have become a little more widely accepted.

"Hey, we're all the same."

One of the fun parts of this drama is the fact that viewers can find things that they, or their loved one, have in common with the characters of the story.

We hope that everyone will be able to enjoy life a little more after having something good happen to them or meeting that special person.

That is the kind of feelings we'd like viewers to get from this heart-filled comedy.

The main character of this story is Sota Mishima (Manabu Oshio). Sota has been working at a small travel agency for two years since graduating from college. He was switched over to taking care of domestic tours because of the drop in travel overseas due to the terrorist attacks in the United States. At a time like this, he'd like to quit his job, but just can't find the will to do so. He lives life at his open pace, and hates both formalities and constraints. Neither good nor bad, he lives by his own set of rules.

Another key character to the story is Akane Kawasaki (Rie Tomosaka). Since graduating from a technical college, she has been working to become an interior designer by working at a furniture shop. Although lacking focus, Akane always does her best. She believes that things happen by fate, but sometimes lets erratic behavior get the best of her.

Akane meets Sota after advertising for a roommate on the Internet. Thinking that perhaps something may evolve from them living together, she is really disappointed to find that he has brought a girl back to the apartment with him on his very first day as Akane's roommate!

..."What an awful guy..."

The next day, Sota suddenly brings home a male friend, Kansuke Nakagawa (Hiroyuki Miyasako), that Akane has never met before...

This is the slap-stick beginning to these two very different personalities living under the same roof. It is also the start of a new circle of friends.

Sharing an apartment with those of the same or the opposite sex has become common place in today's society. "Friendship" is the story of a typical young man and woman, going about their ordinary lives while sharing an apartment together. Each episode will bring more surprises than the last.

1.	Great couple and group [Rating: 10/10] I actually enjoy this drama. Oshio has shown me he's made of good stuff, and Tomosaka Rie plays better as a normal person (instead of the limited person she was in Kimi ga Oshiete kureta koto, which is also a favorite of mine). The 2x3 group of friends is actually more lively and better than the one in Omiai Kekkon. Overall a fun comedy.

1.	Comments by Tiffany [Rating: 9/10] I definitely definitely enjoyed this one. It was VERY funny and I loved the dialogue, but it also teaches you a lesson about life. The whole cast gave brilliant performances and the whole feel of it is reminscent of the American TV show, "Friends".
