It's sad but it deals whit a topic quite unusual so it's pretty interesting. yet, I think that as usual Kanno Miho is sometimes overacting, she cries all the time etc... I think that if she continues like this it will be hard for her to find new roles more akarui. (but I like her...) I also fund strange the way haru gets intelligent so quick and return to a baka very fast too. You know, it's not because you're IQ is high that you can suddendly read in all the languages of the world and be a scientist in two weeks! It's just impossible. But the dorama is great and its ending too ( wich is not so usual in jdorama ) |
2. | Comments by sucigam [Rating: 8/10] This drama works because of Yusuke Santamaria, I don't think there are many other japanese actors out there that could pull this off but he did it flawlessly. Unfortunately Kanno Miho performance is way to melodramatic (I wonder if it was the directors choice or her own to cry every damn episode), this caused the drama to go from great to just good.
I still have to recommend this, one of those rare dramas that will make you think while being emotionally compelling at the same time. |
3. | Comments by kaonashi [Rating: 8/10] Adapted from a book, this script about a retarded man who regains full brain capacity is very suited for a J-drama series. It's a touching story & it's funny & sad at the same time with pretty good acting from the leads. There are quite a few hows & whys, since we're not getting much scientifical explanations. Just don't demand logical answers & you will most likely find this drama enjoyable. |
4. | Comments by Mink [Rating: 10/10] I've always thought of Yusuke Santamaria as a comedian first, but this is probably the best place to see him as a dramatic actor. His performance is poignantly charming. The drama's weak spot, IMO, was the rather bland character that Kanno Miho plays... Ishida Ayumi as the torn, neglectful mother of Haru is an interesting side story that wasn't even part of the book, but it adds so much more in the drama. |
5. | Comments by sasukekun6 [Rating: 9/10] I quite enjoyed the book so I decided to check out how the drama is. I have to say, I'm really impressed. Some aspects of the story were cut out and changed but I'm mostly alright with it. Mostly sad with the ending...but still kinda happy. >.> Yusuke Santamaria played Haru/Charlie insanely well.
Just like the book, it's a very emotional story but so insanely good. |
6. | Comments by ParaParaJMo [Rating: 9/10] I've seen most of the series but not all of it. It was one of my favorite novels I read in high school and this drama is faithful to the original novel in it's own right. I loved how Yusuke Santa Maria conveyed Haru as being funny, heart warming, and emotional. My only problem was the teaching crying every episode. |
7. | Comments by jdfan [Rating: 9/10] Wow, this is one moving dorama! Great Script indeed. I haven't seen one this good for a while now. Yusuke Santamaria demonstrated that he is one skillful actor. His interpretation of the character is just amazing! Kanno Miho performance is also powerful. Don't miss this one. |
8. | Comments by SushiMaki [Rating: 6/10] Enjoyed this drama! Santamaria is a good dramatic actor. This plot is the same as "Charley" starring Cliff Robertson in the 70s. What happened to Tomoko's acting career? She was a good child actress in Kita no Kuni! |
9. | Comments by ct_subang [Rating: 4/10] a very melodramatic story abt a mentally challenged guy who eventually became a genius..yusuke's performance was marvellous!!u have 2 feel sorry for himstorywise-slow... |
10. | Comments by Ikuko [Rating: 10/10] Very good, it's excellent. I love the story. It's a very good adaptation of "Flower for Algernon" by D. Keyes in J-drama. The ending is very moving ;_; |
11. | Comments by sadacori [Rating: 8/10] An inspirational tale about a man with a low IQ who gets surgery to become smarter. Yuusuke Santa Maria was just great in this drama. |
12. | Comments by xploring [Rating: 9/10] A slow start, but great story, adaptation and acting by Santamaria Yusuke. Heartwarming ending. Highly recommended! |
13. | Comments by yeong84 [Rating: 10/10] A very well made master piece drama. Yusuke plays an awesome role (a serious one!!). Strongly recommended. |
