Are you looking for the answers for your presentation here?

Did you try and google it?

i try to google for it, but all it gave me is the modern Japanese new year. how they spent their time on new year and what do they do in new year, but i couldn't find anything about the history of Japanese new year. when did the japanese begin putting up ShimeNawa as a welcoming for Toshigami-sama.

The Grand Shrine in Ise has long been a popular place for people to attend New Years ceremonies. You may be able to find some information by researching Ise Grand Shrine a little... At least it may be a start.

History of Japanese New Year? PCModem getting really hammered on New Year's Eve and then dragging himself out of bed, hungover, to visit relatives. hehe Bonk

Is there really much history to the Japanese new year? I mean even if you think of something like "the history of the U.S. New Year". I dont think anybody knows when or who really started it.... seems like a bad idea for a presentation.
