ehemm....sorry..back to our topic..

yes this drama is based on a true story and the pictures of the girl at the ending credits is the real Aya. They've also inserted the girl's own words based on her diary at the end of each episode (which is truly inspiring and it's the part that had me bawling each time i read it... ..wish i had that much courage & strength)

and fyi...Asou kun character is fictional... If i'm not mistaken (from what i've read from this forum earlier on) the real Aya's mother gave her blessing for adding the love interest in the story to fulfil her daughter's wish to experience love..

i guess, for some of you who have watched the series might feel unfulfilled with Asou+Aya relationship because its somewhat incomplete, but for me its justifed. It gave the audience a chance to ponder upon the real Aya plight & misgivings

CAN SOMEONE please ANSWER THIS QUESTION? It have been bothering me since i finished the drama a few days ago. I tried to read more about this but no one talked about it, even in this thread.

Okay, here's the question. You know at the final episode when Ayu told Asou-kun to live on. ANd she fell asleep right? Then what happened after? Was she in a coma until she died? Because it shows that dreamt about her old days, playing basketball and such. My sisters all think she had fallen in a coma and died in her sleep 5 years later. So that was the last time she spoke to Asou kun? Thanks for any replies!

I luv dis drama its soooo sad and encouraging!....after watching it made me want to do better in life !

I cried sooo much i can't believe it hahaha...dis drama has the usual storyline but dis 1 was based on a true story and the characters are played sooo well so its not your average story when you watch it! Erika plays Aya soo well for a newcomer aswell she really made me believe in the character and whenever she cried tears would start flooding from my eyes! the scene of Asou and Aya on the bridge was realli touchin and the letter part!...dis is a must watch!

BTW!....has any1 got any sheet music for this drama??? in particular K-only human or the song Konayuki....if not any from this drama will do thanks!

omg i just finished watching episode 10 and it's heartbreaking especially at the end when Aya wants to give up already. i cried alot at the end.

btw, which episode made you cry the most? so far it's episode 8. I'm going to finish with the last episode on ahem ahem MARCH 9 <--- lol

i dont think she fell into a coma...in real life Aya was alive and wasn't in a coma...i know this because in the endings of one of the episodes they showed a picture of Aya in her early 20's.

as far as last time talking with Asou-kun..that's for you to decide and that's how i think it was meant to be portrayed as (ambiguously). personally i think it WAS the last time because it very much felt like a farewell and Asou understood it.

and if u didnt know, Asou-kun is a fictional character added into the story...other members discussed this in earlier pages

Wow. I've been obsessing over Hana Yori Dango and Nobuta so much lately that I've overlooked this awesome J-drama. Well, I've just recently watched it, not having high hopes at first. However, I must say that more than one litre of tears must've cascaded down my cheeks as I watched this.

Anyway, I don't want to spoil so much, but this is just so wonderfully sad. Everything is subtle, and so realistic. What I find extraordinary about this drama was the fact that not even one second of it was overdone or cheesy. Every episode flowed beautifully. Although I do feel saddened by Ichi Ritoru no Namida, hope is a feeling that overpowers the sorrow that comes from watching this show.

I thought that both Erika and Ryo did a MARVELOUS job of portraying Aya and Haruto. I felt that Aya and Haruto's romance was represented very well also. My heart was breaking as I watched them together.

I do believe that she fell into a coma. I mean, it would be weird if Haruto never visited her again in those five years. The reason she told Haruto to live on was because she knew that was probably the last time she would ever speak to him, meaning that she believed her death was near. The way the scene was done, I felt like she fell into a coma. That's just my opinion, though.

I love this drama!!! every episode made me cry!!

Even if Aya didn't fall into a coma, I imagine that there would've been no practical way for her to communicate for those last couple of years. At the final scene between Aya and Asou, Aya could barely point to the board... and if her disease kept progressing like it did, she wouldn't even be able to open her eyes or look around (let alone her arms or head). So I guess even if she didn't actually fall into a coma, either way, she soon ended up in a coma-like state because of her disease. Sad to think about... That probably was the last meeting between Aya and Asou. Asou was about to head off for medical school, right? So he probably couldn't go all the way back to visit in the middle of the year... Oh -- another thought just popped in my head (sorry for all the rambling). Remember Aya's "love letter" to Asou? The one where she said that seeing him was painful for her? Whether that Aya actually meant what she said or that she wrote it just so that Asou could forget about her and move on with life, either way Asou really must have taken it to heart. Therefore he chose to see her one final time and end it there, so as not to hurt her anymore.
