I really love this drama. So trying to bump the thread up. LOL. w00t!

Hey please watch the drama. Many thanks to S-project for subbing. Oh i wouldnt say that the show has no substance. But its definitely has nothing much to do about Love. And the whole show carries a very serious mood, especially with the music, and with the damn narrator behind telling the story. I hate narrators in movies and dramas. cant they let the characters drive and tell the story? Thats probably the only pitfall i see from the show. Though i probably do not have any solution for that. This is the only show i "dropped 2 drops of tears" after watching 1 litre tear episode 8. Lol. Im also not sure why i decided to drop that "2 drops of tears". Maybe its just that i hate to see people fall from greatness and that my favorite character actually went for such a solution in the end (spoiler, so dun say...) I seriously disapproved of such an action, but what to do, its drama, meant to be dramatic.

Oh, i would like to add that i do not think that there are purely good or evil people in the show. Everybody is kind of driven by their own emotions and dreams. Somehow the dreams are always for the good of the some others. it just that when trying to achieve the goal, things somehow got out of hand and people somehow lose touch of their goals and also forgot about other others. lol. Hence, people are kind of humanly in the show. Even Kimura Takuya's character, which was kind of supposed to be flawless, had his own pitfalls hence drove the story to such an ending.

I love kimura drama's ...heard this is a serious drama but oh well gave it a try and guess what I really cannot stop watching it !!! Every episode probably ends like a cliff hanger and you would want to know what happen next !!!! Finish it in 2 days

There's a few parts that literally that can make you cry not because of sadness but because you can see how teppei manpyo goes to great length for his workers and his company

and the soundtrack desperado - it will never ever be the same again to me ! Everytime this song plays those touching scenes will come back to me . The one that stood out when teppei heard footsteps sound of workers .... that scene was a blast !!!!!!!! ( I mean you really have to see the drama to understand what I am saying )

Great drama !

2 days. It took me 1 whole day to get through the first 3episodes (which is oh-so-boring-with-sucky-subs-ohwhy-did-I-buy-it feeling). However because of this one line of naration by Teppei in the 1st episode that was intriguing enough for me to continue watching the next day WITHOUT SKIPPING (although I kept talking to the cd cover asking Takuya "WHY WON'T YOU LET ME ?').
All in all its a good story. Heavy, dramatic, serious, twisted & frustrating. Definately not a drama to watch when you are trying to relax. Unlike Sora Kara(which is deliciously twisted as well with a sumwhat similar ending), Karei didn't give me good closure. I'm not a satisfied audience.
Giving it a 7 out of 10.

Kimura-san will win the best actor award again...although I have to say, I'm bored with the same charismatic characters that he kept playing. Even when he's is playing this damned character he..

Which I guess was the whole point of the story. Not that I didn't get it from a mile away.
He totally swallowed his character whole.

Surprisingly, I was more interested in the other characters esp. the father. I felt his pain of hating his own son, his love for his wife while his twisted dark side was scary & disturbing.

isn't the book from which this drama is adapted written by the author of Shiroi Kyoto ? It's so intense that i forgot how to breathe.

Kimura-san tried hard to be absorbed in his character. Except for one scene in Ep8, I don't think it wasn't intense enough....maybe because he looks younger than his age and carries a more modern persona (rebellious) onscreen ? His hairstyle needs more brycream and the suit isn't suitable for the era. Not his fault.

I love the women in the cast. Teppei's wife (ahhh!! so much better than playing oda yuji's wife) and Aiko - her height and screen presence is so strong. Applaud Applaud

I'm on episode 4 of this drama... I was gonna turn it off halfway through the first ep but I held off because I always finish the first ep of doramas, anyway somwhere near the end (think it may have been that cool fish scene XD that and the one of Teppei sitting under the painting of his Grandpa in the exact same pose... I knew who Teppei was "really" gonna be when I saw that scene)
Anyway now I'm enjoying it... I saw some things in this thread though that I feel I shouldn't have... like how it ends *Twitches* I didn't highlight the spoiler boxes I just kinda saw waaaaaah T_T anyway I'm still watchin!

Ok so now I've finished the drama I wanted to leave my thoughts.
I finished it on Tuesday Evening... with very sore eyes (I soaked my pig pillow XDDD and well my nose was streaming like a waterfall XDDDD Beaten no seriously... it was actually pretty gross I'm so glad I was watching it alone ROFL)

Ok so *takes a deep breath*

First of all I wanna say how impressed I am with Kimu for taking up this kind of role, he's been on his hero-lover-type streak for sometime XD (not that I mind that he does that type well) but this was something different and it felt refreshing for me to see him in this role.
I don't know what others thought, but I felt he did a pretty fantastic job, one of my personal favourites of his performances.

The rest of the cast did a fantastic job also. I was worried when I saw Kyoko would be the leading lady because after seeing her in Oishii Proposal I didn't really like her a great deal. But in this she really suprised me I really, REALLY liked her character. She had great chemistry with Kimu. She was such a loyal and trusting wife, she was really sweet.
It was great to see a drama where even though the evil step mother tried to break up Teppei (Kimu) and Sanae (Kyoko) and she tried so hard but she never came close to actually succeeding. Usually when someone pulls the "other woman" card you get this whole annoying cliche, but Teppei didn't have another woman and Sanae had complete faith in him.
They supported each other and stood by each other, I really enjoyed that aspect of the show, it was one of the lighter sides of the show.

My absolute favourite aspect (and his wife and kid were a close second) was the whole Father-Son-Grandfather triangle.
It fascinated me. After the flash back Teppei's mother had in episode 1 when she saw Teppei sitting in the exact same pose as his Grandfather was in the painting above him. I knew then that at some point it would be revealled that
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

And it was in episode 8 in a very well acted scene!
I knew that
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

Because I accidentally came her and accidentally *Cough* read spoilers Shameful Cry
But I did NOT see the twist coming that happened at the very end
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

Anyway I can imagine this drama wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea... hey I wasn't expecting it to be mine. It's not cute and fluffy, it's not a RomCom. This is serious, deep and to do with politics and economy. Normally this would bore me to hell but because of the relationships and twists this really sucked in me in.
The end may have upset me more than any drama/ movie ever has before but that aside I can't deny that to me this is one of the best dramas I have ever seen.

Which is *phew* why I had to leave a post XD (a long one at that!!! Gomenasai Beaten )

Well said! I really enjoyed reading that, there are very few dramas out there that can evoke that kind of emotion out of people. Hopefully with this show and "Love and Honor" Kimura will start gaining some more respect from the seasoned drama viewers.

Thanks ^_^ (I've just realised though that I can't spell the word Son Beaten maybe it's some kinda deffect I have but I always end up putting a freaking e on the end for some reason *pulls hair*)

I haven't seen Love and Honor so it's good? I should?

This show deserves a lot more love than it gets, I guess people are put off by the whole politics thing... I guess it's understandable, I was put off initially but suprised myself be enjoying it so much ^_^

just gotten my vcd and finished watching 2 episodes. Though i know the ending and could somehow guessed what happened between the father-mother-son r/s from episodes 1 & 2, still the show intrigued me. Firstly I like their behaviour and its very different from modern times. Perhaps they're of higher social status so they're diginified and must pay particular attention to the behaviour, attire etc and they treat the elders and bosses with due respect. the ladies look gracious in their movements, very ladylike.. the settings too, are something different as I see another history of Japan culture, generation, norms etc. Goodness me, the houses are like palaces! feel like they are a kingdom by themselves.. Watching it also for the development of the characters.

I will certainly continue to watch it Smile

the numbers refer to the resolution of the video file...some videos have a high definition resolution of 1280x720 while others have a lower resolution of 704x396...

Fantastic show! it gets more intriguing and suspense. The actors and actresses played really well. I felt so sorry for the father and son at the end. Towards the end, I really pity the son on his luck, fate and injustice. One of the best drama I've seen, as its very dramatic, with twists and unexpected. While watching the show and even at the end, there were so many "If only.." Recommended!

Anyone knows the title of the background music played on the end of Episode 2?? On the Teppei-Daisuke telephone scene where Daisuke cuts off the budget 10% and told Teppei, "You're the one who said not to mix in family relationships in business,".

That BGM was really saikou!!! But, I couldn't find it in the OST. So, is it a BGM taken from another movie? A western movie, perhaps? Anyone knows?

By the way, who is everyone's favorite villain in the drama??^^ For me, its a tie between the mistress, Takasu Aiko and the son-in-law, Mima Ataru Mr Green

Heheh, on the contrary with me. For me, Karei-naru is a 9 out of 10. Sorakara is 7 out of 10. The first 6 eps bored me. Though, the last 4 eps were enticing. But I didn't like Ryo character that much.

Bushi no Ichibun (Love & Honor) IS GOOD!! If you liked Yamada Yoji's previous 2 movies, Twilight Samurai (Sanada Hiroyuki, Miyazawa Rie) and The Hidden Blade (Matsu Takako), you'll like Bushi^^
