肪Ƃ܂I

Thank you for the recommendations! *bows* I will try to find them. BTW, does anyone have any experience of anything traditional like tea / koto / buyo / odori clips, TV-edutainment, educational programs, or DVDs on the net?

One final question: Anyone happen to know a dorama shot in Kanazawa , that is the old samurai district@ that appears on so many enka videos?

Could anyone recommend me a drama? I'm looking for a sad lovestory, not much a comedy. You can see the dramas I've already seen on My Dramas page, here: http://jdorama.com/viewprofile.26195.htm
Also, it would be the best if the main characters were kinda young (around 20) Smile Thanks in advance!

In terms of dramas, I would recommend:

1) Ima Ai ni Yukimasu. This is one of the most beautiful dramas I have ever seen.

2) Byakuyakou. This is the darkest drama I have ever seen. It's not appropriate for everyone, but it's definitely a love story, and definitely sad.

Hi there,

Can anyone recommend any silly, funny manga-based doramas with/without romance? I want to watch it with my younger sister, so nothing too heavy/deep.

I've watched these with her, so anything similar would be great. Thanks!
-GTO
-Ittazura na Kiss
-Hana Yori Dango 1 & 2
-Gokusen 1 & 2
-Densha Otoko

Nodame Cantabile, definitely.

I didn't care for the following shows too much but it would also fit the bill of what you're asking for, and many other ppl liked them:

Hotaru no Hikari
Hanayome to Papa

They are based off the same manga...but no...Meteor Garden is a Chinese version of Hana Yori Dango....whereas Hana Yori Dango starring Mao Inoue and Jun Matsumoto is an all Japanese production.

THE darkest drama that I have watched is Kono Yo no Hate. It's also somewhat of a love story, albeit, a really screwed up one. Definitely sad and depressing too.

yeah... agreed! I thought i will get depression after watching that... it is way to 'heavy' and sad...

btw... any nice drama to recommend... love story, some humor, some theme (eg: airplane, office, hotel, detective, etc) and NO high school students please (i cant stand high school drama.. i'm old already)

recently I have finished 3 dramas - Hotaru No Hikari, Galileo, Good Luck... and loved all 3....
something around such themes and story plot, any recommendation????
Applaud

Thanks Tu-triky,

I've actually watched Nodame Cantabile
(and Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, another funny manga based dorama), but forgot to put it in my list. Haha.. I'll check out the other two doramas you suggested. Thanks again!

I think you'll most likely enjoy those doramas....they are very lighthearted and funny, which fit the parameters which you are looking for.

I used to watch a lot dramas of the early 90s like 101 kaime no puropozu, and Kimi no tame ni dekiru koto. Haven't watched any doramas since that period. Looking for a series that will introduce me back to the genre. Thanks =).

Hmmm....well, if you're wanting things more recent, here's a list of ones I could recommend that kind of follow formulas of the two you liked:

- 'Dream Again': Very recent show that stole the whole 'Heaven Can Wait' storyline, yes, but it's a very touching drama starring Sorimachi Takeshi as a pro baseball player who is accidentally dies when he isn't supposed to and is put into another body, his goal is to fulfill his dream as a pro baseball player. Along the way, there's issues of hiding the fact he took over another person's body (who happens to be the president of a trade company), his girlfriend from the past, and a child who appears out of nowhere that starts bugging him (hope that doesn't spoil too much...).

- Kekkon Dekinai Otoko: A hilarious story starring Abe Hiroshi whom is an architect that doesn't like people and enjoys the finer things in life like eating steak, listening to classical music, and building model ships ( hehe ). The plot of this one is basically how a few people who fall into his life (his next door neighbor and a doctor) annoy the hell out of him (lol, not really...but it is about how he deals with trying to open up to people).

- 'Nodame Cantabile': Maybe not following your set, but definitely one I could say is a 'can't miss'. Starring Tamaki Hiroshi as Chiaki Shinichi, a prodigy pianist at a music academy who is annoyed at the lack of talent and ambition, as well as having a hidden desire to be a conductor (combined with a huge fear of flying), when he starts interacting with his next door neighbor Nodame Megumi, played by up-and-coming (at the time) Ueno Juri. She's the polar opposite of his character, and...well, watch the series to get the rest. The show itself stuck close to the anime roots, using special effects and 'stunt dolls' to pull off slapstick comedy moments, but it's done very well, and the classical music is awesome in the series. The SP just finished this past few weeks as well.

- 'Galileo': Another recent one, starring Shibasaki Kou as Utsumi Kaoru as a rookie cop who is fascinated with the paranormal and always wants to have justice done. After a murder that looks like something out of science fiction, she follows the advise of a transferring officer to speak with the science and physics genius Professor Yukawa Manabu, played by Fukuyama Masaharu, but everyone calls him 'Galileo'. To compare it US series, it's like a combination of Numb3rs and CSI, but pulled off very well. A movie is in the works as well, due to be released sometime this year.

There...I hope that gives you a direction to start off. Good luck!
