^ That news has been around since 2005. It was originally slated to be released in 2007, but later 2008, now 2009.

I don't see how it can possibly get any better, but you never know hehe

I know it's no guarantee, but you would think with leads like that it would have to be OK Smile

Because I'm a loon about the "Odoru Daisousasen" TV series, I was really looking forward to seeing two of the movie spin offs from the show.

Yougisha Muroi Shinji "Suspect: Shinji Muroi"

&

Koshonin Mashita Masayoshi "Negotiator: Masayoshi Mashita.

For the most part, just getting to see Yanagiba Toshiro and Santamaria Yusuke repirse their roles from the TV show made the movies worth watching for me.

But both movies shared the same serious flaw. Neither had a third act.

In both cases, the solution, the climax, to the mystery/suspense story was about as anti-climactic as anything I've ever seen.

Both films ended with sort of a puzzling thud, rather than an Ah-ha!!.

I found myself rewinding the movies, just to see if I'd missed something important. But no... those really were the endings.

If you don't already love these characters... don't waste your time with these movies. They'll annoy you.

If you do like the characters remember... it's all about seeing those characters again. As to the solution to the problem at the end... there's no "there" there.

Hello People!
I finally managed to create an acount here on Jdorama.

I have just recently begun watching Japanese movies and I was scouting for some Japanese romance movies from the year 2000 and onward, but it seems like every movie i stumble upon is a sad movie, where the main protagonist has some kind of rare illness.

If it isn't too much to ask about, could anyone please recommend a good romance movie, with a happy ending for once??

(Im really sorry if this isn't the right place to post this.....)

Love Kram In love

I haven't seen it but an online friend said it's really good. He's a Takeuchi Yuko's fan and wrote that she was great in it.

Read online that it's going to be remade into a drama next season.

A.D.

Sorry. That's an old quote from Gertrude Stein.

Quote:
there is no there there
is how she described her home town of Oakland Ca.

Since I live next to Oakland I know what she meant... and because I'm simple I assume everyone else shares my opinion.

Just saw Always: Sunset On Third Street. I keep remembering that scene with the ice man just after they got the new refrigerator... that, and Hiromi's ring... Puppy Dog Eyes

Quaint and delightful...

Yeah that's quite true...certainly an oddity of the film that makes it bit unusual. Smile

I just finished watching Yoji Yamada's latest film, Kabei Our Mother (2008). This film is absolutely amazing. It is a masterpiece from one of Japan's living treasures. An emotional tour de force with acting that is truly sublime. I give this film a recommendation of the highest order. A must see film.

Set in Tokyo in 1940, the peaceful life of the Nogami Family suddenly changes when the father, Shigeru, is arrested and accused of being a Communist. His wife Kayo works frantically from morning to night to maintain the household and bring up her two daughters with the support of Shigerufs sister Hisako and Shigerufs ex-student Yamazaki, but her husband does not return. WWII breaks out and casts dark shadows on the entire country, but Kayo still tries to keep her cheerful determination, and sustain the family with her love. This is an emotional drama of a mother and an eternal message for peace.

^ That movie gets a strong push from me too. Really nice story, and acting was top notch.
