I watched Get Smart yesterday.

The story was so lame, but there were some funny moments.

I haven't seen it yet... it's out on DVD now.

I saw Indiana Skull and the Kingdom of the Crystal Jones on the weekend. Ridiculous story even for an Indy movie, but it was fun. Karen Allen is still cute Smile

Spielberg and Smith Collaborate Together for 'Old Boy' Remake

Steven Spielberg and Will Smith are planning to collaborate on a remake of Park Chan-wook's Oldboy, according to Variety. The pair, who have been looking for a project to work on together for some time, are said to be in early discussions about reworking the acclaimed Korean thriller, which centres on a man who is kidnapped and held in a dirty cell for 15 years without explanation.

Smith would play the imprisoned man - Choi Min-sik in the 2003 original - who is freed just as he is about to put an escape plan into practice. He is given money, clothes and a mobile phone and sets out to discover who stole his life from him in order to take revenge.

A direct remake would seem to be particularly dark territory for both Spielberg and Smith, as the original contains a number of family-unfriendly themes and sequences, such as the famous live octopus sushi scene. Spielberg is currently said to be searching for a writer.

The original Oldboy was a huge favourite of Quentin Tarantino, who tried to persuade his fellow Cannes jurists to award it the Palme d'Or in 2004. In the end they plumped for the safer territory of Fahrenheit 9/11. It remains to be seen whether Smith and Spielberg will end up making a similar decision.

I foresee doom in this. For real, is it really necessary to do a remake of this movie? I loved the original version and to think that they're going to make it into a 'family friendly' movie is just...scary.

Speaking of remakes:

From Japanzone

Fuji TV and 20th Century Fox are teaming up on a Japanese remake of the Oscar-winning movie "Sideways" (2004). The comedy drama set in California's wine country was nominated for four Oscars and won the screenplay award. Kohinata Fumiyo (54) will take on the lead role originally played by Paul Giamatti (41), but he and Namase Katsuhisa (48), Suzuki Kyoka (40) and Oscar nominee Kikuchi Rinko (27) are the only Japanese cast members. The movie marks the directorial debut of Cellin Gluck, who has bridged the U.S.-Japan divide for many years in marketing and TV commercials. Shot in California, it is scheduled for release in the autumn of 2009.

Sadacori should be interested seeing as how Kohinata Fumiyo is in it.
