LOL! No really. I sat through SOS without falling asleep, and that crap was boring as gray.
I'm on Atsu-Hime epi 15 now. _________________

ep 3 for me. It is a lighter than usual Taiga but no complaints so far.

I was cut off from watching Kita Kuni by my BF after ep 16. It kept making me depressed. I cant slough things off after.

No wonder!
I'm continually amazed by the acting in this series... it's so effortless, like they aren't acting at all.

Wakui Emi was cute |
She didn't affect me at all when I watched Naguru Onna, but she was uber kawaii in Aoi Tori. It's amazing how a character changes the visual of the actor/tress. _________________

She was in Aoi Tori? I didn't notice at all, but only watched the first few episodes of that series though.
I only started to like her recently in Hanayome to Papa and Ai no Uta.
I have been really slow with Kita no Kuni Kara. I can see that it's a great series, but it's pretty sad most of the time.

O! my bad, I meant Ai no Uta. I didn't realize she was in Hanayome to Papa... but then I didn't know about her when I watched that drama. _________________

I found her quite charming in Pure.
Watching ep 1 The Bad Dad / Otoko No Kosodate I have a soft spot for Asunori Takashi since I saw him first in Tainted Love Song. He's kind of a n'er do well in this and Im liking it so far. _________________

I'm not sure about the director, but the chap who wrote Kita no Kuni Kara (Kuramoto Sou) also wrote:

Thanx, Geez.
It makes sense that he did Yasashii Jikan also. What a beautiful drama.
Wish I could manage watching Kita without falling apart.
Haikeo Chichiue is probably sad too, Im guessing. _________________

It's a bit sad, in a good nostalgic way. Makes we want to check out Kita no Kuni Kara.
I'll be catching up with Voice episode 7 and Love Shuffle episode 7 tonight.

From what I could decipher from his Japanese Wiki page, Sugita Shigemichi directed and co-produced the whole Kita no Kuni Kara series which spanned over two decades. He also directed these TV dramas:
Raisukare (1986)
Kimi wa Umi wo Mita ka (1982)
Bokutachi no Seishun (1991)
Namiki Uchi no Ninnin (1993)
Ushinawareta Toki no Nagare wo (?)
Shounen H (?)
Kaikyou wo Wataru Violin (2004)
He also made a couple of movies: Fine Horse Oracion (1988) and Last Song (1993)
As for Kita no Kuni Kara, I pulled the plug around episode 18 or 19. I too found the drama a bit too depressing. It carries this constant undercurrent of loneliness and sadness where everyone seems to be running away from or longing for something or someone. The sadness and loneliness started to be infectious, and I found myself running away from it and longing for something more cheerful. _________________

I just buzzed through Bokura Ni Ai Wo
http://www.jdorama.com/drama.43.htm
Hmmm. There's Over Acting. There's Bad Acting. And then there's childish pretending.
This show was a triple threat.
About the only thing interesting in this show was getting to see a very young Kyono Kotomi ( Tsukahara of "Shomuni" - Momo of "Kuitan") playing a silent, sullen, depressed Junior High School student. Getting to see her when she was that young kept me interested for all of one episode.
I've just started "Monster Parent". _________________ Manga is to Literature

How are you going to go with the eps (7-8) that don't have subs? Or do you have a Chinese bootleg for this too?
